Oh gosh hope41! These ppl are getting like 4ml fills!!! What should we do? Do you think the doc's are taking advantage to get more visits out of us to make more money?

I had my first fill of 1ml, it made no difference what so ever and my doctor doesn't want me to go back for another fill for a month. I didn't like that at all! I do not want to have to wait for several months to get to the green zone.

TheProfessor you are 110% right, if I don't have a drink for 2 days instantly 2 pounds gone but then they come back as soon as I have a drink. Going to strap a set of **** and stop drinking. Have to as there is no other way to it. Like you said we paid 16k for this surgery and we are doing the same habit as before the surgery
    Thank you for reply

I have had only three fills totalling 3.5 mls and I am no where in the green zone. And to be totally honest, it sucks. I have a ten ml band, but this waiting in between fills blows. I am trying to wait patiently for the slightest feeling of restriction, but it's driving me nuts.

I have only told my husband, mother, sister, a friend from church and the friend who told me about the surgeon knows. That's it, no more. I don't need unsolicited opinions of "friends" who have interest in my well being or health.

Thank you for that info & words of encouragement. I wasn't supposed to get my first adjustment until the 26th, but I called to tell them I am having a tough time now....and they made it for next Wednesday.. hopefully that will force me to do the things I am supposed to because right now I keep wanting to eat everything after being so restricted the last few weeks.

When I was considering the surgery I only told a VERY select few. No more than 5 people. I was afraid people would judge me and also what if it didn't work and I was a failure again.
I had surgery a little over a year and a half ago and people say "You look great what are you doing?" If they are closer to me I will now tell them about the surgery and others I just say diet and exercise (even though I used to hate it when people told me that is how they lost weight!).
My boyfriend is especially critical of what I do and do not eat or how much I don't eat. He has actually said to me he misses us going to restaurants and eating big meals together. I go out of my way to spend that time talking to him so we can still have a special time together where we are out, but I am not eating what I used to eat.
I do think people pay attention to my portion sizes or at least I feel like they do. I often fill my plate and take bites here and there of this and that, but usually end up covering up my plate with a napkin. Only a few times has anyone ever made a comment about how much I ate.
I think part of the process of prepping yourself to have the surgery you start to discover your take on how to handle telling everyone or not.
    Have a Great Day!

Thank you for this info. I am 5 weeks post opp and it feels as if I have no restriction at all. I lost weight on my pre-opp diet but it has now stopped. I will have my first infill next wednesday. Looking forward to getting going with my weight loss. Have eaten to much today. need some support here. This is my first post on this forum. Hope to use this frequently.

That might be uncomfortable around the waist! But don't worry, if it does turn out to be a problem it can be replaced and re-sited. It is not uncommon for people to have them moved after the fat has gone because if you lose a lot, the port can show.

That's right on your waist isn't it? if it becomes a problem I understand the replacement of the port is very minor surgery. so don't worry.

And having a hard time with the "welcome back, where have you been?!" And the "you've lost weight haven't you?" Remarks. Mostly I just smile say thanks and scurry off. Glad I wore sweats LOL
Anybody else horrible with weight loss comments? I always have been, I feel like such a jerk but compliments legitimately make me uncomfortable haha.

Don't give up. It is really hard. I know. Ours was a 10 day liquid only diet. 4 Protein Shakes per day, juice, sugar free anything liquid except soda pop and caffeine, broth, etc. I hated it. I kept saying to myself, if I could stick to a diet, I wouldn't be doing this! But that self talk can get you in trouble. I started telling myself, "you can do anyting for 10 days" "don't want my doctor to know I couldn't even do this" "If I don't stick with it, there may be complications with the surgery, got to get that liver out of the way!" It worked, I mostly stuck with it. The doctor said everything was fine in there, except I did have a small hiatal hernia, which was repaired. Haven't had acid reflux since! I found the broth really helped. the sweet taste of everything got old fast. Tomto or V8 juice helped too. good luck, you've got this covered and can do it!

I'm ready to restrict carbs, as I sleep so much better when I do and also I want to lose a little faster and not rely so much on the cc in my band. Today, just for the heck of it I used a ketostix I had from my last Atkins fail (my fault, not the diet) and I was FLOORED when the stick showed moderate KETOSIS!!!! I wasn't expecting that, since just yesterday I had a 1/3 of a chicken roll for an early dinner. I guess because of the caloric restriction in general, the body uses fat as a primary source of fuel. Soooooo, I'm actually/not-really already on "day 4" of Atkins, according to the stick. WONDERFUL!!

Totally feel the same way, I work with a lot of people younger than I am by 10-20 years, they have no idea of my life or what I've been through but the judge anyway. I have not told anyone other than my husband, son and one co-worker after she quit. I'm down 40 pounds over the last 10 months and I also just tell people that I am just watching what I eat and leave it at that. It's none of their business. Good luck to you!!!!!
