Hi everyone, also on the 26th... We are almost there, it's so difficult especially the all liquids but we have done it this far... Just a few more days. Want to say good luck and God Bless to all of us.
    We can do this!

I have stuck to it like glue too. No cheats. Been very diligent. I went today to see the allergist and am down 21.5 pounds. YAY! I have hit a little snag and will find out in about 3 hours if my surgery is still on for Tuesday or if they have to wait for a lab to come back. I am determined to stay on pre-op until I have the surgery. The way I look at it, the more I lose now, the easier the surgery will be. Hang in there!!!!! I will say a prayer for you on Tuesday too

I'm nervous too. But I look at it this way... We spent X number of years to get us to this point. Having surgery will give us discomfort and difficulties for about 4-6 months. By then we will be back on more "normal" foods and well on our way to goal weight. Some folks have spent that amount of time just waiting for insurance to approve the procedure. We can do this and we will get through the recovery one day at a time.

My surgery is on Tuesday in MA as well! I came down with a really bad cold this week, so my surgeon said to update him on Sunday night to make sure I'm okay...I'm feeling the same anxiety too; it's so scary making a life-changing decision, especially when I'm only 23.

My surgery is the 26th as well. It is starting to feel very real now. I just want it over with. The pre-op diet is kicking my butt.... though I have not cheated once. I want there to be NO reason for the doctor to not be able to go through with it. I just found out I got a new job I had interviewed for and I will be starting it 2 weeks after surgery. It feels risky, but I am counting on it to distract me from the fact that I will STILL be on liquids. Distraction has been my friend while on the pre-op diet and it will be my friend for some time to come! Good luck to all of us!

I gave up diet soda, fried foods, potato chips, caffeine, chewing gum and drinking out of straws. It wasn't easy but boy has it made life after RNY so much easier. I don't miss any of it. OK that was a lie ... I miss my chewing gum - LOL!

I gave up pop and started exercising three times per week and and stop consuming bread, Pasta, rice and cut y sugar intake. Just making these changes were well worth it and I am so happy that I did, I also gave up all friend food and now grill or bake everything. Good luck on your pending surgery. And congrats on your choice on being healthy.

After my group meeting to get started with the weight loss program, I quit drinking pop and I started eating like I was supposed to after surgery (paying attention to Protein, sugar and fat content). I went to 1 cup of food every 3 hours and ended up losing 51lbs before my surgery!!

On my pre op as well. Completely liquids for the next 7 days, was doing shakes and one small meal for the last 2 weeks. It's not easy. I focus on the benefits and why I'm doing this. Made some friends on here and it helps a lot to have a buddy or 2.
    Good luck.????

Hi everyone, starting my pre op diet in a few days and I'm a tad nervous but excited at the same time.
I've already started eliminating most foods but Thursday is my last day for caffeine... Oh my... That's going to be hard.
I've also started to journal and want it to be a daily & continuous method to track my food, supplements and exercise. I joined myfitnesspal today, haven't done anything on there but would like to. If you want to add me, please do... It's dolphin_flygirl
Ideas for an app to chat:
    whatsapp, Skype, Kik,
    Anyone else have ideas?
I am at a very uncomfortable weight and find it difficult to do so many normal activities and honestly I just would like to walk without being out of breath.
    Think I've written too much.
Anyone who wants to join me on this journey, please message me.

dolphin_girl reacted to LipstickLady in Is it CHEATING or is it a CHOICE?
Every day I see new posts from people who feel guilty about "cheating". Some are coming clean about it or are embarrassed about it and amazingly enough, some seem to be bragging or feel empowered by it.
    But is it really cheating?
I assume that most all of us are adults here. I also assume that most of us have had, are about to have or are researching WLS. We should know the dietary plan at this point (or there would be no "cheat"), and we should also know the risks associated with eating off plan pre or post op, yet every day people ask if what they are doing is OK and/or look for justification for their actions.

What in the world? It truly makes me scratch my head.
To me (and this is just MY opinion), there is no CHEAT. It's a CHOICE. I chose to have this surgery. I chose my surgeon because I trusted his skills and his knowledge. I chose to have sleeve over bypass or band. I chose to limit the amount that I can eat and drink by drastically altering my body. I chose to eat right 100% of the time on my pre-op (yup! not lying!) and I chose to eat right 90% of the time post op until my doctor said I was free to do otherwise.
I think it's FINE to ask your surgeon/NP/NUT questions if you think you are ready to do anything other than prescribed. I think it's OK to question their answers. I do NOT think it's OK to ask a bunch of strangers on an internet forum to justify choices that aren't good ones-- especially internet strangers who are or were in the same boat as you.
If you want to eat and drink at the same time, more power to you. If you want chocolate and bread and shakes and fries, have at it! If you lick a dorito or chew it up and spit it out, good for you (not really, but...)
I love the "coming clean", I love asking for support, I love asking for coping ideas. I just ask that you take a moment to ask yourself if you are truly cheating or if you are making a CHOICE to do something you should not.

Hi, my op is May 26th. I have only told my parents. I have had abdominal issues before and also removed my gall bladder, so people can think what they want. I've had to tell my financial advisor coz he sorts my medical insurance out and I did not get approved for the op and I'm pleading my case again this week. If not I will have to pay for it by myself.
I want to tell my best friend but not sure when. I'm nervous. I want to stay in my pumped up, positive zone because I know that this will be life changing for me.
    Good luck.

dolphin_girl reacted to liannatx in 5 days post op can't do all liquid diet. Anyone else do okay on soft foods?
I had one week on Clear Liquids, and 2 weeks of full liquids. You are right, it was miserable and it sucked. I followed it to the letter. I was more afraid of complications than I was of being hungry.
I think you just have to reach from within, and really pull every ounce of willpower for this stage, but you DO need to follow you surgeons recommendations. This stage is not about comfort or weightloss, it is about healing properly with no complications.
