@gorainyhotmailcom Wow! That's great that you were that committed. I had no idea you could hire a Medical Escort...that's good to know! Truthfully, I am right there now....I must have this surgery. Prayerfully my husband will get past all of his negative views about surgery, once he see's it working. Thanks for sharing! God bless!

@@lisaannedp I'm so glad you found it too! I read, and read, and read. I've been lurking for about 8 months, just reading...too scared to post, because I was afraid I'd be denied. I was right at the border with weight and my sleep apnea. But, praise God...I was approved! Btw, I had to wait 3 months for my surgery. I was bummed, but I made up my mind to accept it, and live my life until the . I needed to have a total hysterectomy. So, I had that surgery 18 days ago, and am recovering now. I just made the best of the time before Feb. 23rd. I say all this to say, you may have to wait for scheduling the surgery, but focus on te blessing of even being able to have it. We are so fortunate! ???? Have a blessed day!

@@lisaannedp I'm glad you're getting encouragement here ???? I am not on a special diet before the surgery because my bmi is on the lower end. There are many people who have done the pre-op diet on the forum. I think it's normal to have some nerves. I Sure do. I've just prayed, and really utilized this board. ???? Keep us posted!

Hi @christina-abdo. I too have a husband who is not supportive of my desicion to have surgery. We have/had horrible arguments about it. My husband is extremely natually fit, does not have the problem of obesity, and is very handsome. I have gained weight since we were married last year....he met me three years ago, and I'm 75 lbs heavier. To him it was new, to me...it was another time of gaining and losing weight. I have struggled for 25 years. He has insulted me, made jokes, gave me dirty looks for eating, and basically told me...I should just have self-control. He has even said he does not want a fat wife. It truly broke my heart. BUT, he does not agree with the surgery...he feels if I follow "his plan", I will lose the weight and keep it off. My expereince for 25 years shows me, I may lose it...but I will alwys put back on more. That is Why I need surgery. Once I finally got insurance and had this opportunity, I jumped on it. I started the journey 8 months ago, classs, tests, Drs appointments....and got approved last month. I wa ecstatic! I'm scheduled for surgery on Feb. 23rd. My husband was happy for me, because could see how happy I was, but he told me...he does not appove of my desicion. I am still going forward. This descion is for me and my health. I don't want to spend any more time ashamed, embarrassed, tired, and obsessed with being heavy. There is too much life to be lived. I'm praying to God, and getting support here. I hope you search your own heart, and educate yourself for what is best for your health and your life. This is definitely not an easy desicion. God bless you

@@Licia2210 I just wanted to tell you, you're not alone. I am having surgery on Feb. 23rd...you'll be one day older than me! ???? I too have many of the same fears. After failing so many times on our own, who wouldn't. It helps for me to pray, knowing that God has me, helps to bring me peace. I will be praying for you too. ???? God Bless!

@@Yadie2006 I'm so glad I found your post! I'm having surgery the same day! I too am unsupported in my desicion to have surgery by somenone who is very important to me, my husband. He is also the same person who has insulted me about my weight, and made it plain...he doesn't want a fat wife. He also feels I should be able to do it on my own. I am nervous about the surgery too. I also know I have battled my weight for 20 years, losing, and then gaining even more...over and over again. I am sure that I need major help to lose it and keep it off. To stay obese is really an open invitation to so many health problems, and I feel so ashamed and hopeless about it. I'm sharing this with you...to let you know that you're not alone. I plan on going to my first suport, God....and also here to the forums. Since we're having it the same day, we can encourage one another. ???? I'm praying for your family to come around. Hi Glitterpockets, Just checking in to see if you were approved? I've been thinking about you since your last post. I was approved through United Health Care Community plan on the first try (I Switched from UPMC for you because my BMI and sleenapnea were really close to the lowest I could be). I am Sooo relieved. Hope al is well, and praying for an approval for you!

Hi Tom, Thank you for sharing your experience so far. Congratulations on the weigh loss and recovery. I am in Pitt and scheduled for Feb. 23rd for the sleeve at Magee with Dr. Corculous. So, I was really grateful to see your post. Incidentally I just got back from Magee yesterday for a total laprasocpic Hysterectomy. So I kind of had a sneek peak of the place. Thanks again for the updates!
