Well I am back home, I cannot believe that it has finally come and I got approved, have an excellent surgeon and I feel a lot better than yesterday. I am having a very hard time getting my liquids in. They make me nauseous but I am trying. Hopefully tomorrow it will be easier.

Your "stomach being mad" sounds more like acid than true hunger. Are you on a PPI?
If you are concerned about how much you are eating, then eat less. Stop the "eat until I am full" mindset. Plan how much you are going to eat, measure or weigh your portion, and stick to that.
To be honest, the choice to eat eggplant lasagna worries me more than the amount you can eat. Why are you eating carb-heavy foods rather than protein-rich foods?
Your weight loss sounds awesome to me. Try to ditch any preconceived notions you have of how fast you will lose weight. You will frequently surprise yourself with how your body loses weight -- sometimes more than you expect, sometimes less than you expect. But it seems like, from what I see here, people start to freak and stress at the "less than I expected" parts and it really gets them down. So just focus on following your plan as best you can and let the weight come off at the rate it wants to. That said, I think you've lost an amazing amount of weight and expecting something different is completely unfair to the surgery as well as to yourself. Be good to yourself

Sorry, I don't get on here much anymore so I never saw this question. Flax seed should be fine once you're back to a normal diet, but I'd avoid anything like it (including chia seeds) for a while after surgery until your staple line has a chance to heal. Check with your doc though, he/she may have a different opinon.
You're quite welcome! "Onderland" is the magical place that only existed in fairytales pre-sleeve. It's that onderful amazing point at which the number on your scale starts with a "1" - hence the term "One-derland"

Hi guys just wondering if anyone else kept their surgery a 'secret'? I'm getting sleeved in 4 weeks and have so far only told my parents, my two brothers (and their partners) and one friend. I know I'm going to get a lot of questions from all other friends and family, so wondering if I should just make it something I tell everyone or keep to original plan of a secret.
Anyone else have any opinions on this or experienced this themselves?

    Interesting! I'll try that soon.
    Day 24 Post Op
Constant nausea continues. The vomiting has stopped. She's barely able to drink anything at all but I force her to take small sips as much as I can. She hasn't eaten. She had one bite of something but couldn't tolerate it. She's also having diarrhea but I can't see how. She's barely taking anything in.
I hate seeing my daughter in this much suffering and I feel so helpless. Nothing has worked. The surgeon says it will just take time but he can't say how much time.
I'm not a nurse, I don't know at what point dehydration becomes serious.

Today is the day!! I have struggled for 13 years, I have prayed and prayed for God to help me and I believe that the sleeve has been His answer. Thank you everyone for all of your vulnerability on this site. I have learned more from you than from anyone. What an answer to prayer this has been. No nerves yet, just pure excitement. Talk to you on the other side! ????????????????????????

I couldn't find anywhere that sold it here in Regina, so I ordered it from their website. Their Protein powders are really nice tasting. I have tried the chocolate Splendor and the chicken Soup flavors so far. I have heard others say they really like the Orange flavor, but I haven't tried it. I always use the little thermometer they sent along with the chicken Soup flavor to make sure that my Water is not over 140 degrees. Apparently it will curdle like cooked egg whites if you put it into Water that's too hot. Their site also has some recipe ideas for the Protein shakes. They also sell some protein Snacks which I plan to order next. They are pretty expensive - works out to about $2 per bar. I have to keep reminding myself that my favorite chips are around $3 per bag, so it's not such a bad choice. Will let you know how they taste.

I think the stats say that people on the average lose about 65% of their excess weight. But being an average, there is bound to be a wide range of what people lose. I'm now 3.5 lbs from goal so I've lost about 95% of my excess weight. It only takes 1 person who loses no weight to give the two of us an average of 50% lost. (That was a bit convoluted, but I hope you see what I mean.) Also, if someone gets the sleeve with 200 lbs to lose, it's possible they might not lose the entire 200 lbs, so that messes with the averages as well.
I'm praying that I can maintain this loss---that seems like the bigger battle to me.

Okay so I'm on day 10 and everything is going great. Most of the pain is gone. And I have been steadily losing! I an now 11.5 lbs lighter. I love it! I can even feel my clothes fitting better. My belly Is starting to look flat-ish. I can't wait to lose more!
Anyway I started biking to the park and I might be working out a little too hard that way. But it feels great. I noticed that the days I go to the park and bike about 2 or more miles I get more hungry cause I burn more calories. So it's a give/take. I'm used to working out cause it makes me feel great. It's like my drug, puts me in a great mood and releases all the good hormones. But....I gotta remind myself "you just had major surgery! Calm down" .
My incisions, which I was worried about, seem to be healing pretty well. I don't think I will have scarring or anything noticeable once they close up and the bruises around them heal.
Pooping! Is another subject. I seem to be pooping every other day or so. Now forget I talked about pooping right before talking about girly stuff
And on the girly side...It might just be a confidence boost, but I'm getting a little more attention from the guys. A British boy kissed me and said "you are gorgeous," in the sexiest British accent and a guy at the film photography asked me for my number "you and me Foosball at X bar".
So yes, do I recommend surgery? Hell yes.

First and foremost let me congratulate you on accomplishing a 5k, which I have never tried to do nor think of doing. Although you attempted and accomplished it and had to deal with the pain afterwards you did what so many of us thought of doing but wasn't strong nor brave enough to do. Kudos to you!
Second I was so moved by your personal testimony of your trials and testimony, I think this is the first time I have read and cried by one. That being said I truly believe that you are a woman who can accomplish anything that she sets out to do ergo 5k, 10,000 steps and attempting this new journey. Your already a winner to improve on the person you have always been. I wish you much success. Continue to post as I would like to know your outcome.

My last straw? I went to step up onto my deck and I slipped, skinned my shin, grabbed for the post to steady myself, and did a full body slam backwards, landing in the grass about 3" away from a pile of river rock. That's what did it. Scared the hubs something fierce! Not even being able to step up 12" onto the deck cause I couldn't haul my body weight. Terrible. Not going to happen again. This Gramma is getting her act together!!!

I had several but outside of high blood pressure, knee problems on and on...the "final" was...my husband said he wanted me around with him in retirement. Our daughter had the band and lost 70 lbs, it was the first time he was open to surgery as an option, and I was no longer afraid. He was tired of seeing me lose weight only to regain year after year and my struggles with hurt and failure.
Someone said to me "How many morbidly obese senior citizens do you see?"
