alindsey got a reaction from foodfighter78 in Who all did you tell?
I'm only telling my mother who is going with me and having it done the same day!
It's no one business!!
People are mean nasty and judgy and I don't have time for that!!!
My BMI is on the lower side and I don't want to hear "oh you don't need it" or "just diet and exercise"
Uh clearly that's not working for me! Lol
It's really a personal choice I feel it's private. I mean do you tell everyone you meet that you are a vegetarian or don't use salt on your food etc.... or feel the need to tell them any other eating routines or health habits you have? I don't see why we would tell everyone anyway.
Hi I'm April I had the gastric sleeve..... ???? no one cares, it just opens you up for people to be negative and ugly!

I regret I told many friends. Keep it to yourself is the best way.

alindsey reacted to Bluesea71 in IBS and the sleeve?
I had horrible IBS before surgery. Totally gone now post surgery. I think over eating was 99% to blame and of course, eating the wrong foods. I am now a year out and can happily report that diarrhea explosions, excess bloating and gas are a thing of the past! ????

Mine cleared up but I also follow a strict diet..I hate to mention this and I don't know what your plan is or anyone else but I havnt had a salad since my sleeve I'm 10 months out and I am also off all processed foods, wheat etc..I suffered ibs going back and forth and its completely stopped and I eat raw pecans daily the past few months I even stopped my script for ibs..no bloating here. I also don't drink cow or soy milk..the greassfed cheese and yogurt doesn't bother me..

Great question. I could have wrote your post. I had my gall bladder out 5 years ago and have had ibs since then. I wondered too how the sleeve would affect me.

alindsey got a reaction from HopeandAgony in IBS and the sleeve?
Anyone suffering from IBS have the sleeve? I have either Constipation gas and bloating or diarrhea ALL the time due to sensitive and irritable bowels. TMI I know sorry, but I wanted to see if anyone with the sleeve has the same and how their IBS is after the sleeve?

I know Clear liquids can be boring. Look in the Hispanic food section for GOYA bouillon. They have Ham (Jamon) sort of like split pea or navy bean, Tomato cilantro and chicken with tomato. Helps change up the savory side.

alindsey reacted to KSTUZ in 3 months post op pic!
Hello all!
So I had my real first OMG moment.
I went dress shopping for a wedding I'm in, left picture is 2 weeks after surgery, jan 19th and right picture was today! April 12th.
Same dress but 5 sizes smaller.
84 pounds down from
December 27th 2015.
I was blown away by the side by sides. I can't stop looking and smiling at this picture!! This is, by far, the best thing I have ever done for myself. Today...I'm very proud! ????????

alindsey reacted to All done in 47 days and counting!
I had a hard time with my husband. I never told anyone other than my best friend my manager my husband and son. My husband thinks I am crazy and it was a big problem in our house. He felt like it should have been a joint decision and I was like, its my body and its my decision. We ended up going to counselling and after quite a few hours he found out that he can't tell me what to do. So he said he would support me but he wasn't happy about it. Plus it must be hard b ecause he is sworn to secrecy. this is my private thing.
there is a Facebook page for baratric pal and Dr. Zavalza which I am part of. I really like all the info i am getting onthose pages. It sure has made me feel more comfortable and for sure way more educated on what to expect.

I haven't committed yet but it is looking like June with Dr. Zavalza in Mexico for me too! I'm so excited as well. Telling my sister today and very nervous. I know people cringe when I say Mexico but hoping she will be open minded.

I am heading down to Dr Zavalza in Mexico in June and am so excited. I believe they said a special diet for a week, and clear liquids for 3 days. I think it depends on each doctor and each individual. I am starting to do little things already to prepare to break my bad habits wishing u great success with your surgery

Preach it!!!!
This is why I've told no one except my mom who is having it done the same day!!! She also told no one! I'm happy this way. I don't want to hear everyone's negativity!

Honestly Bruce a BMI over 30 is considered obese. Unless you are a board certified bariatric surgeon I'm not sure you know what your talking about lol I've heard of BMIs as low as 28 needing surgical intervention due to obesity with comorbidities....

Yes that's why I'm not telling people I don't want to hear the your not fat speeches! I am or I wouldn't get asked if I'm pregnant all the time lol!!! I carry my weight in my boobs and tummy! I'm a classic apple with little legs and arms My face is getting big now and my head changed shape and that is my final straw!! I don't recognize myself anymore I'm 5'7 and about 205-210. I can work my butt off for months in the gym with clean eating and get down to 185 ish but can never maintain it! I have to work out 2 hours a day cardio and weights and eat 500-800 calories only a day to get there:( Which isn't realistic for anyone to keep at when I work 50 hours a week (4 12 hour shifts as a RN) The struggle is real! I can't wait to get to Tijuana get this done and begin a new way of eating and living!

alindsey reacted to CanyonBaby in BMI 32 5'7 and 1/2 210 lbs
My surgery was 12/3/14, and I am down about 55lbs. I am of the same shape as you, so my legs look great now, very slender. Not much of a butt anymore, arms still large, but smaller now, waist is smaller, as is my back, breasts a little smaller, face back to "normal"!!! Collar bones are showing (and are awesome!!!), it seems that everything is going down at the same time, not one area more than another. Most important thing is to use a measuring tape, from the start, to show the progress when the scales won't. Good luck to you!

I'm 30yo. My BMI is lower than some getting sleeved but I qualify so I'm scheduled June 8th. I have a apple shape most of my weight is in my breast stomach and back. Also my face is rounder since I got the 200 mark. Anyone else with similar stats get sleeved??? How's you weight loss and body shape been doing!? Let me know

I was on Clear Liquids for months but only because I had problems and couldn't eat. Each Dr. is
different. They gave me instructions on when and what to do.

alindsey reacted to BLERDgirl in I'm so worried about hunger!
Part of what you learn with the sleeve is to make your meals count. It may have just been a mental thing today. However part of hat you learn is how to make meals count. You'll have limited space so you finds filling foods that aren't high in calories. Don't worry unnecessarily, today may just have been an off day.

We did a lot of walking yes it's safe. About 7min walk behind the hotel is a strip mall with Walmart Starbucks and great little shops. We took in a soccer match which is next to Walmart to watch the premiere team in Tijuana play. We also walked down the street to see the small shops the other direction. Such great history and powerful paintings on the street. OXXO is exactly like 7-11 store. That where my mum went to get sandwiches which were great and cheap. They are all over the place. Sandwich costs about 1.75 U.S. There is an oxxo right beside the clinic as well. For ur mum. The ppl are so nice. Drivers are crazy. Just watch when crossing street. There are not that many walking signals. After the surgery when u r at the hotel on the 2nd day take a cab to the revolution. Cab is 100 pesos. Or 7-8$ U.S. It's where Tijuana started. Shops food for ur mum tequila shots for ur mum at all the shops it's great atmosphere. Have at least 20$ in pesos as u will tip the ppl who bring room service and stuff. It was the best hotel. Friendly efficient just a blast. Pool hottub.
