    Hoo boy!
Why are some of you newbies going all drama llama because you've lost *only* 10 pounds your first month post-op? That's exactly how much I lost my first month post-op -- and what I lost Month 2, Month 3 and Month 4.
And you're breast-beating yourself because a few other patients are eating more than you and still losing weight? There are multiple reasons why this could happen -- but none of them are because you're a potential WLS failure or a special snowflake.
And you're whining that (based on your vast bariatrics medical training) you could possibly know more than your surgeon and bariatric team about WLS and what will help you be successful long-term? Gimme a break.
Why don't you guys just do today what you're supposed to do today. And do tomorrow what you're supposed to do tomorrow. That's how you'll lose all your excess weight and then maintain your loss.
That's how I lost all my excess weight and then a little more. I've been maintaining at 7 pounds below my weight loss goal for 4 months now.
Unless that's too boring for you. In which case, be my guest and pig out to learn how much food it'll take to bust your tiny, swollen, not-yet-healed stomach wide open.

    Not "faults". CHOICES.
As long as your choices aren't endangering your health, share away. We've all been there. But if you're drinking multiple alcoholic beverages weeks out from surgery, prepare to get your ass handed to you. By most of us AND your doctor.
And if you feel that drinking and eating things you shouldn't be just weeks out from surgery is justifiable, then I SMH at YOU.

I would definitely think twice before taking "adda boys!" and "go for it!" type of advice from anyone whose posting history clearly shows self destructive behavior.

(Yup. I said it. Take your best shot at me now.)

That is a lot of sugar between the apple juice, the carnation instant breakfast and the yogurt. Why not have all Protein Shake? The rest of that is basically devoid of Protein and full or carbs/sugar.

Today marks two weeks since my VSG and I feel wonderful! I feel no pain, I feel no hunger and have even forgotten to eat several times which I need to work on. I lose more weight when I get all my Protein in. Since surgery I have lost 16 lbs and since starting my preop diet I've lost 34 lbs! My clothes are starting to get baggy, but I'm ready! I've got plenty to keep me nicely clothed until size 12/14. Yep, I've kept clothing because I knew I'd need them again someday. (I kept only the most fashionable, of course!????). Once I go through those 12/14s, I'm going on a clothes shopping spree! The sad news: I have to go back to work next week. I've really enjoyed my time off except the first few days. Oh, and I started on puréed foods yesterday!! That made me HAPPY!

I posted this in the "sixties" forum but wanted to be wedged in between all these young beauties! Everyone looks amazing! I still have a long way to go, but I'm working this sleeve for all its worth. I started at 276 and was sleeved on May 20. Two and a half months later I'm at 225 so I'm 51 lbs down (after an infuriating 3 week stall). I'm 64 and now I don't feel a day over 61. ????

Hi my name is Melissa live in Ny
Sleeve Surgery on May 12th. Recently hit 3 months
Lost 52lbs so far. Feeling great
I eat a lot of baked chicken and baked fish
For breakfast I love my omelettes with cheese eggs and a little ham or bacon. (This covers my protein)
I met a girl in the hospital who was having the same surgery turns out we don't live far from each other and had the
    Same surgeon.
We have become good friends and each other support person thru this. We talk regularly about different
Foods and the ups and downs. I'm super grateful for that

Yep, I made that first goal in a long line of goals I've made for myself! I've lost 50 pounds!  I'm not quite halfway there, but I already feel amazing and I'm so happy that I finally did this. I had my sleeve on May 20th and it's been all downhill since then. ????

I laugh when people don't recognize me. A few weeks ago I walked up behind a long-time customer and she said she never would have recognized me if I hadn't opened my mouth and greeted her first. ☺️

    I'm almost 70 years old and a 5'5" woman.
I was sleeved 8/18/2014. Highest weight was 235 (lost 20 pounds pre-op), weighed 216 day of surgery, then lost another 65 pounds post-op to reach goal (150 pounds) at 8.5 months post-op. I've since lost another 7 pounds and have been floating for several months at 143-144.
My maintenance calorie budget is 1750 calories, and I usually hit 100 grams of Protein each day.
Honestly, I thought the whole thing was easy-peasy. I move, move, move. I walk, go to the gym, yoga class, and clean the house like a new bride. During the weight loss phases, I ate pretty clean (protein, veggies, fruits, whole grains). Now, I'm allowed a few treats, but do not go hogwild.
I plan and track all my food / drink on My Fitness Pal. I wear a Fitbit, which is quite motivating to keep moving.
Frankly, I think, on average, older folks have an easier time of it with WLS than younger folks. We have more discipline, more patience, and are motivated by health goals, not dress size goals. Although that bit's nice, too.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I was a 44/46 DDD. 2.5 months later I'm a 40DD and I'm hoping to lose even more boobage. Blouses fit so much better and my chronic back pain is gone!

I love Fairlife milk and that's the only kind I buy now. You get extra Protein and a longer shelf life. It tastes great (I buy non-fat). What's not to like?

I bought some different flavors of Quest bars a couple of weeks ago. I haven't been able to get past the first bite of any of them. That was my first and last time I'll bother with Protein bars.
