I have tried fried foods once or twice, but they sit like a rock in my stomach and make me regret that choice for the next 1-2 hours. I've learned my lesson and don't even bother anymore!

I was told by my surgeon not to let my BMI drop below 40 until I was approved for surgery. Since I started with a BMI of 41, this means I only lost 5 lbs during my 6 month supervised diet. After I was approved I lost 16 during my 2 week preop diet. Everyone's insurance is different. Mine had said it would be based on my initial weight--but I didn't trust them enough to risk it!

Breakfast: Greek yogurt with triple berry mixture (buy it frozen at Costco) over top. 145 calories
Snack: reduced fat Colby jack cheese string
Lunch: 1 oz almonds, 1 oz diced deli meat
    Snack: premier Protein shake
Dinner: 2-3 oz meat of some type
    Snack: another cheese string.
Still trying to work on getting my calories up, typically get around 800/day

I bought size 14 pants today! I haven't been below a 16 for over 15 years. Started at a 20-22W in June. I thought the size was wrong so I tried other 14s on and they fit too!

Today at the gym a woman I've never met approached me and said "I've seen you in a class we take together over the last couple of years, and I just wanted to let you know you look amazing". Seriously made my day! I'm 5 months out.

I've lost 100 lbs and have dropped from a 40 or 42 DD to a 36 C. Unfortunately, they're mostly just skin with a little bit of fat left in them. There's probably plastics in my future once I hit maintenance!

My eyes are still much bigger than my stomach, and I still catch myself picking out clothes in larger sizes only to have to make multiple trips to the fitting room when they are too big!

I ignore the message and typically don't "complete" my days. I'm basically just using it to log my foods and track my Protein grams.

rnsamantha got a reaction from OKCPirate in Amino acid supplements?
I had surgery in June 2015, and I'm down 97 lbs so far. I'm working out 5 days a week (30 mins cardio plus 30 minutes weights 4 of the five days). I have a trainer 2 days per week and she recommended an amino acid supplement to preserve/promote lean muscle despite rapid weight loss as well as promote energy. I am getting at least 75 g Protein per day. Anyone using additional supplements to Protein Powder? If you're using an amino acid supplement do you have any recommendations??

rnsamantha got a reaction from jane13 in Have You Convinced Anyone Else To Have The Surgery?
I have encouraged my sister to consider it (we've always been the two obese ones in our family). She's two years younger than me and now that I've lost 90+ lbs and am no longer obese, I think it's making her sad that she's sort of "alone". Our financial situations are different and we live in different countries (I'm in the U.S. And she's in Canada) so her process may be very different than mine ones. That being said, when she comments about my weight loss, or that maybe she should look into surgery, I encourage it, but don't pester or push her. I think making the decision to pursue surgery is very personal, and to be successful you have to make that commitment yourself.

rnsamantha got a reaction from jenkbacon in The fear of regain is REAL!
I am realizing this fear too. I'm almost 6 months out and over the last few weeks my eating habits have started to slide. I haven't been tracking food as diligently, and I've been snacking on carbs (a tootsie roll here, a handful of chips there, a cookie). I gained 1.2 lbs last week. There hasn't been any all out binges, but the grazing and "I will just have a little" mentality has sabotaged my weight loss this week. I love the fact that I'm no longer a plus size now that I've lost 90 lbs. I'm still 13 lbs from my goal though, and even that is at the upper limits of my BMI. This week has been a reality check, and makes me afraid that if I can revert back to this habits and gain so quickly in my "honeymoon" period maintenance is going to be another beast altogether. Time to get refocused!
