  1. at my appointment in Liverpool this week I got talking to a young woman from Blackpool who had her op on the NHS.
  2. I`m 64 and got banded last september at the Abbey Sefton in Liverpool and I live near Wigan. I am still waiting for my 1st fill after all this time but go on Tuesday for a barium xray and fill. I go every week day to the gym for the treadmill and bike and cross trainer and love it. I am losing weight by sheer will power and can`t wait for restriction to lose weight quicker.
  3. My op was done on the NHS at the Abbey Sefton BUPA hospital. The follow up comes from the Aintree Hospital.
  4. when I left the Abbey Sefton I was told I would be able to contact the dietician anytime and the 1st fill would be 6 weeks. But as they have lost the contract this isn`t so. I believe I`m not the only one in this position but this is little comfort when I feel unable to get advice from them. Its a good thing I can come on here but what about those who don`t have a computer.
  5. I am from Wigan and had my op in Sept 07 at the Abbey Sefton Liverpool by Mr Javed. Still waiting for my first fill 5 months on.
  6. I joined the site but cannot reply to any postings. It just says it is waiting for verification and I cannot contact the site as my user name and password are not accepted.
  7. I went to a Consultant about having my gall bladder removed and it was he who suggested the gastric band. He referred me to Mr Kerrigan at the Abbey Sefton Liverpool were I had my op 9 months later. Unfortunately he had left so I had the lovely Mr Javed but 4 months on and I haven`t had my 1st fill.
  8. I didn`t know where my port was until I went for my 1st fill. It should have been situated immediately in the centre under my breast but the dr couldn`t manipulate it back in place. Now I am waiting to have a fill by a Xray. Luckily I am under NHS and it won`t be costing me anything.
  9. Had my band 21 Sept 07 and still waiting for 1st fill 1 Jan 08. Their excuse is the senior Consultant has left the hospital. I have been so good since eating healthy going to the gym 5 days a week and drinking 2 lt water. But have got so depressed not having the fill that for the last 2 weeks I have eaten rubbish and feel fat and miserable. I have rung PALS who deal with hospital complaints and will what they can do after the holidays.
  10. I was banded 21 September and still not had my 1st fill. I went on 17 December but my Consultant had been called away and a registrar tried to do a fill but couldn`t find the port which he thinks has flipped. Now I am waiting for xray before I see the doctor again but they couldn`t give me a date. I`m so depressed and have stuffed myself over xmas and now so mad with myself.
  11. This week when I went for my 1st fill after months of waiting and was disappointed the doctor couldn`t find my port he thinks its flipped. Now I have to wait until the New Year for a Xray and then see the doctor again. I`m feeling this band has been a waste of time.
  12. My band was fitted in September and I should have had my 1st fill last Monday the 17th but unfortunately the port has flipped and will have to wait until I have a Xray in the New Year and after that get a fill. I have no restriction and feel the op has been a waste of time. The Consultant says I should look at as a 2 year plan but I just feel I have already lost 4 months.
  13. I went for my first fill today and was told my port had flipped. I had my band fitted 4 weeks after they removed my gall bladder. I am just wondering if this is the cause. Now I have to have a Xray in the New Year and then have my fill. So very disappointed as I was supposed to have the band in June and they cancelled hours before op. Then in August I was meant to have my gall bladder removed and the band fitted. But because my gb was infected I had to have another op later.
  14. I am 64 and go to the gym 5 times a week otherwise I would be a lot bigger than I am now. I get my 1st fill on Monday and hope this gives me a restriction. I am changing gyms in the New Year to where they have a pool. Now that I have lost some weight I am daring to get a costume on.
  15. I was 63 when banded on the suggestion of the surgeon I saw about gall bladder removal. At the moment I am 12 weeks after the op and still not had my 1st fill. The after care at the Liverpool hospital needs sorting out. I have lost 19lb but that is due to willpower and gym each weekday.
  16. 12 weeks and still not had first fill. Only through constant ringing and writing I would have had to wait until 3 March 08 but now going on the 17 Dec. I bit scared as I can`t feel my port although I have lost 19 lbs with willpower and gym. I can eat anything and started to comfort eat being so disappointed.
  17. Can`t wait for my first fill on the 17th after a 3 month wait. Just hope it works as I don`t want to wait a further 3 months for a second.
  18. I`m in England and after having my band in Sept 07 I still haven`t had my 1st fill. I can eat anything and only losing weight by going to the gym each day. Feel like the band has let me down.
