  1. I'm actually finding clothes hard to fit. I have an inner tube thing going. My chest and shoulders and thighs have gotten small but around the middle is still large and start to hang and I have handles on the sides. Shirts that fit well around the chest and shoulders are tight around the stomach so I end up with shirts to big around the shoulders.
  2. Been awhile since I updated. I started at over 470 pounds. Don't have any pics when I was that size. First pic I took was at about 425. Now at 324 so I lost 100 pounds since my last pic. Decided to take the pic in the same location. Still need to lose about 100 more pounds.

  4. I for some reason have been struggling with gout since surgery. I would get an occasionally but now I'm on a daily medication for gout. Anybody else experience this? Odd that as I lose weight my gout gets worse.
  5. I had a Breakfast burrito from McDonalds last weekend. I was only able to eat one. I was able to eat four of them before plus a hashbrown before.
  6. When did you guys start making big progress after surgery? I'm 3.5 weeks out and my weight loss is slower than before surgery. I average about 70 grams of protein, no more than 1,000 calories and at least 60 minutes on my bike. I lost 31 pounds on my two week diet and my surgeon is expecting big things. I don't expect 15 pounds a week but I have only lost about 6 pounds in the past 2.5 weeks.
  7. I started at 470 and was 380 by surgery time. Surgery was 3 weeks ago and I'm down to 369. Hoping I start picking up the pace because it's disappointing losing at a slower pace after surgery.
  8. Had the surgery this past Wednesday. My goal was to be 380 by surgery and I was 380 on the nose on my home scale (389 on the hospital scale) I was up to 383 after surgery but got a nice little drop today to 377. Hopefully the downward slide starts now.
  9. No longer a member of this club. Had a little extra time this week so I upped my exercise from 60 minutes a day to 90 minutes. Lost over 8 pounds this week. My goal was to be under 400 in time for surgery. I haven't even started the liquid diet yet and my surgery is still a month away and I'm under by the slimmest of margins.
  10. Got the insurance approval today and set a surgery date. June 7th I meet with the nutritionist. June 13th I have an endoscopy. June 22nd is the surgery. I'm currently down to 409. I've been averaging about 3 to 4 pounds a week. At this rate, I'll be easily under 400 for surgery. The liquid diet starts after the June 7th visit. I'm assuming I'll lose even more on that diet. Would be nice to be at about 380 at the time of surgery. Been getting my 60 minutes of cardio in a day. Was able to get off blood pressure pills and have noticed an improvement in my sleep apnea. That will hopefully reduce the risk of surgery. They tell I should lose 100 pounds in the first 6 months after surgery. That should take me under 300. Haven't been under 300 since around 2009. If all goes well, I could be under 250 a year from now.
  11. SGC, what surgery are you having? I had gastric bypass a year ago, but like many big guys on this site, breezed through it with minimal hassle... and a year later, am dramatically healthier... surviving morbid obesity was the issue, not surviving surgery.... I am getting the sleeve. I focused more on dieting as if I had already had surgery and exercise 60 minutes a day and the weight is coming off fast. That then makes me second guess the surgery. I wanted to lose as much weight and build my cardio endurance as much as possible for the surgery. At the end of the day, I'm still hovering around 400 pounds. I have had surgery in the past to remove my gallbladder but I was younger and weighed 250 pounds at the time.
  12. Got all my required info in and it's being submitted to insurance today. It's really hitting home and I'm getting nervous. Not really nervous about my new stomach but about surviving surgery.
  13. Losing weight hasn't been an issue for me. As recently as 2008 I weighed 250 pounds. I'm getting surgery to keep off the weight. I figured I better do it now since I'm only 31 as my risks for surgery will only increase as I get older and more obesity related illnesses develop. I had an echocardiogram done and my heart was fine so that is encouraging. Doing 60 minutes of cardio a day to try to get into the best shape possible for surgery but I will still be pushing 400 pounds when I get surgery. Hoping to be 380. Doctor says I should lose about 15 pounds on the liquid diet and I'm averaging about 3-4 pounds a week on my own.
  14. Haven't had the surgery yet. Started at 475 pounds. Down to 412. Hoping to be under 400 for surgery which I estimate will be in 4-6 weeks. I'm really nervous about getting surgery at 400 pounds. I have sleep apnea and borderline high blood pressure. Really nervous about dying.
