  1. I'm in one right now, ugh. I have lost 140 lbs this year so I can't complain too much, lol. In the past, upping Protein and Water - and cutting carbs has worked for me Hopefully it will work this time too. Good luck!
  2. I am 11 months out, 140 pounds down. I freeze all of the time. We have an infrared heater that I drag with me around the house to whatever room I am in and I keep it facing me if I sit on the couch. It's a complete 180 because before surgery, I loved a cool house - now I can't stand it. I burn my husband and son up, but I am just so cold!
  3. I miss pizza! I'm too scared to eat the crust, but I have "skinned" the toppings off of a slice, which was okay - but just not the same
  4. I am pre-op (surgery on Thursday) and right now I am so scared of the general anethesia during the surgery, I am almost in tears when I sit and dwell on it. I've had a C-Section, but it's not the same. I have every faith in the fact I'll be fine after surgery, it's just the getting there that's the hard part for me. I really hope that there will be some anxiety help for me on Thursday and I'm scared of looking like an irrational drama queen, but I just can't help it. :/ My main fears for after are regain and loose skin.
  5. I had them in a restaurant sauteed with a small amount of blue cheese and bacon. Probably not WLS friendly, but it was to die for good. Hopefully I can think of a good substitution/cheat for this in the future!
  6. Puppy love/ Lust - instantly (just like I did for my husband, lol. It was the thunderbolt!) Real true love takes getting to know someone for who they really are. I am still falling in love with my husband even more all the time and we're going on 13 years this year! He still surprises me and shows me what a good man he is constantly.
  7. Feb 25th ....I'm soooo nervous!
  8. Star Talk with Neil Degrasse Tyson is awesome. I also love What Say You by Sal and Q from Impractical Jokers
  9. Netflix - I just watched a mini-series called North and South this weekend. It's a Jane Austen-like story about England in the Industrial Revolution but also a GREAT love story. I could not stop watching it. The lead guy is the same guy that plays Thorin in the Hobbit movies and he is hot, hot hot in this!! Very smoldering and intense On that same note, they have also added the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice, which is one of my favorite movies- I watch whenever I see it's on. On the not-historical-drama/romance side, I tried out Jane the Virgn and it's great! Quite funny and tongue in cheek. Oh, I also like watching New Girl re-runs just because I love the show.
  10. Feb 25, exactly one month...sh*t's getting real!, LOL
  11. I am now scheduled for Feb 25. I am very excited, but terrified at the same time. This will be my second surgery (C-Section in 2004), but my first time going under. I hope that I can keep calm and trust the doctors as they have dealt with bariatric patients many times (my hospital is a Center of Excellence for WLS) - it's the fear of the unknown that just freaks me out...
  12. I am just going for my first meeting with my surgeon this Friday, but I already have a "Likes" list made up on ModCloth. Their clothes are so cute and feminine. I have to dress like, what I feel, an old lady might wear (I'm 37) right now because choices are extremely limited to me. I love the look with leggings and boots too! I would like to get into makeup more also, this is sad, but right now, I just feel ridiculous "dolling up" because I won't look good not matter what I do. Gaining more confidence will definitely be welcome
  13. Hi Everyone! I am scheduled to have my consultation with the surgeon next Friday and was told by the person who made the appointment that it usually runs about two hours. Can anyone let me know what generally happens during this visit besides discussing surgery options with the doctor? Is it blood-work and history-taking? I hate I didn't think to ask the lady when I had her on the phone, lol! Any info is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance!
  14. I have to be honest and say that I am. I have never been put to sleep. My only surgery has been a C-Section with my son. I am not very scared to the surgery itself because I trust the doctors, but the idea of general anesthesia is terrifying to me. Everyone assures me that part is a piece of cake, but it's the fear of the unknown, I guess, that gets to me when I think of the surgery.
  15. Hi Marcy. My husband and I like to cruise also. How long ago was your surgery? We would like to go in May or June (I'm thinking my surgery may be January or February), so I don't know when is right time. I know that there will be plenty of options for food, I just want to make sure that my new routine and way of eating is well established. Will they let you bring Protein powders on board if you explain that you need it? Thanks!
  16. I am getting ready to wean off caffeine. I dread the withdrawals, but it must be done! I'm also learning to take time for me, for taking the time to walk my dog for some exercise and to unwind from the busy wife/mom daily grind. Learning to make myself a priority before surgery is something I hope will be a big key to success
  17. My doctor has always said eat fruit grown "up north", meaning apples, cherries, blueberries, strawberries, etc... It made sense to me health-wise, I suppose all the citrus and tropical fruits grown in southern climates would maybe be less healthy than the northern grown...
  18. http://www.bhg.com/recipe/chicken/kickin-chicken-chili/ I love, love, love this recipie. When I make it, I put lots of chicken stock in it so it's more like a chicken Soup instead of chili. I also add frozen corn and garnish with cilantro. Sometimes I do a dollop of fat free sour cream, but only a small one. I could eat this almost every day!
  19. I plan to donate most everything....but my biggest pair of pants are going in the fire pit - where I am going to dance my skinny booty around them while they burn!!! :)
  20. Yay, Yay, YAY!! Oh I am soooooooooo happy for you!! :)
  21. I want to travel to Arizona and go on a three day hike to all the beautiful blue-green waterfalls on the Havasupai reservation. You have to hike about 8 miles to get to them and in my current state, it's out of the question. I can't wait to swim in those beautiful waters!! Also getting through a whole Zumba class without stopping to rest and shopping, Shopping and more SHOPPING in "normal" stores
  22. I can't stand the plus size tops with gigantic neck holes. It's like you would need to wear a strapless bra with some of them because they extend so far front, back and to the sides when put on. I wear a cardigan with some shirts because of it. I just want a normal neckline please, not a huge scoop or v. My butt is huge, not my head!! Geez
  23. I am so happy for you. I am just beginning my journey (I have been to a seminar, and my first class is next week) and have a similar start weight as you. It was really inspiring to read your post! I'll have to come re-read it when I let those little doubts and fears about surgery creep into my mind as it does sometimes. I hope that sometime this coming year I can write such a happy post as you have done. Thanks!
  24. I really like Benefit and Nars (when I have extra money just laying around - not often enough, lol). The NARS blush in Orgasm is my splurge!! I like Philosophy fragrances, namely Amazing Grace and Pure Grace - they smell so clean. I moisturize with Olay Total Effects 7 (I am 37)and the foundation that I always use is Revlon Colorstay - it's wonderful! Covergirl Lash Blast mascara is a must. Soap and Glory bath items are wonderful too!
