  1. Yup-- this is how I feel. Can't complain about my 'fat' life. Never compensated for it, never made excuses for it, never let it hold me back from anything. The best skill I developed being fat was secluding people who made me feel like I was nothing but fat. If thats all they could see in/about me I set them on the shelf, I didn't need the baggage in my life. (My mother comes to mind for this example...) Nope don't think I'll change. Its funny how other perceive you though. I always wear make-up-- but people tend to notice it more lately, like I'm doing something new. And of course they connect it to the weight loss...just shows how little attention was being paid to me before.
  2. I'm no expert...but my basic understanding is Sugar alcohols are derivatives from sugar used in sugar free products to sweeten things. Instead of ending in -ose (like glucose) it ends in -ol. (I think Sorbitol is one). Some people dump on sugar alcohols. (I don't). I've never been told they are not allowed by my team. Other find sugar alcohols make them bloated.
  3. I hear ya on people getting tired of updates on the weight loss. I gradually stopped texting my core group of supporters daily (not about weight specifically-- anything interesting I've experienced) cause I figured they were growing wary of it. I now only update them once a month with photos. Keep evaluating where you are and how you are responding to experiences on your journey and adjust accordingly. This is what I think evolves in great maintainers.
  4. Try and find the bright side of things. Sounds like you have a great hubby who knows your beauty far beyond your skin! Yup, we've all had failed attempts at weight loss, but no one but YOU is making this happen right now! And if you don't think you are, quit doing what you are doing and see if it keeps working. I have a tendency to keloid and was concerned about it enough to ask my doctor about it prior to my surgery. 2 of my six incision sites appear to have a developed small keloids. (And I have a fairly large one on my neck thanks to a prior surgery). I call them warrior wounds. Luckily, the two biggest incision sites have healed normally. My kids said to me last night I look like I have two belly buttons due to the placement/deep nature of one of the incisions. I figure if I want to make the best of it, I can get the incision pierced since piercing my actual belly button would only ever work after a tummy tuck. That would make heads turn for sure LOL. Keep ya' head up!
  5. This year we're going to my sister's. My sons have never really done trick or treating, so I'm letting them get the experience. I've never made a big deal if this 'holiday'. They aren't big candy eaters either, so I'll probably leave most at my sister's. If we were going to be home, we'd buy candy I don't like to give out; it's what we've done in the past.
  6. Congratulations! I don't know how you got by without changing bra sizes, I'm adamant about wearing a good fitting bra. But I haven't bothered with new underwear yet. so everyone is pretty much scared to buy new panties and during their weight loss they just keep wearing the granny panties? How can you walk around with saggy undies?? I'm not afraid, just haven't had the need. My undies aren't saggy, and I had a few sizes on hand anyway.
  7. Congratulations! I don't know how you got by without changing bra sizes, I'm adamant about wearing a good fitting bra. But I haven't bothered with new underwear yet.
  8. Last night I decided to go to Victoria's Secret. I've never been able to shop there, and was intimidated, feeling like they'd laugh me out of the store. Total opposite experience. I truly felt catered to. I was whisked off to a fitting room, where they measured me, and brought me samples to try on/ recommended things based on my body type. I found two styles I loved and bought them. (I was too nervous to ask about matching panties, lol.) I was so appreciative of the attention, information and professionalism. They are too pricey to make a habit, but definitely worth a splurge. Btw, I think I'm one of the few *not* losing my boobs... Still holding steady @ DD's.
  9. I was one that said if I had less than 100 to lose I wouldn't do the surgery. But now after learning more about the procedures, I'd probably let that be the the determining factor over which procedure I'd get, not rule it out. I don't get why people test their tummies. I know in my case, I'm always curious if I will dump, but I don't seek to test it. If I spent my days testing how much I can eat like how I did before, there'd no point in doing surgery. How Will you look? I can't answer that... I won't even know how I'll look... I've never been a normal weight. Trust that your body knows when to stop losing. You may dip lower than you want to, but there is always some bounce back regain. Good luck!
  10. I LOVE his reference to lady town!! Before the lady town thing came about I called them "special kisses".
  11. I haven't made cream of wheat for a while, but will eat oatmeal. For oatmeal I buy the plain flavor, (flavored instant have to much sugar)1/4c. oatmeal to 1/2 c. milk. I add vanilla extract and nutmeg & splenda. I usually eat oatmeal with 1 boiled egg & 1 boiled egg white. a single serving of cream of wheat uses 3Tbs to one cup milk I believe.
  12. We don't have enough trick or treaters to bother with candy. Lights we'll be off at our house. My kids don't trick or treat. That being said, I have bought candy for the house and I have eaten a piece or two. For me learning to coexist around sweets is as important as avoiding them.
  13. Not one second has gone by pre or post op where I have regretted my decision. Not one moment, not one glancing thought, not one fleeting wish... The complaints I listed are absolutely nothing compared to the list of complaints I could have made while I was obese. I got my life back, and I gave my family the gift of being the absolute best possible me I could be. I am abso-freaking-lutely thrilled every moment of every day. I get it. And like you I'm absolutely loving where I am at the moment. Keep on enjoying life!
  14. Maybe it because I'm not at my goal yet, but for where *I* am right now, if I felt like you do in the 1st part of your post, I'd be feeling very upset/regretful. So I must ask.. when you were working your way towards your goal and having these issues, were you as convinced it was the right move?
  15. I don't think her husband and her want anyone watching. LOL!!
  16. Some people like adding PB2 to there chocolate shakes.
  17. How far out from surgery are you? Earlier its harder, but it gets better. At almost 6 months I can drink about 8 oz over 15 minutes. I carry a 32oz bottle with me everywhere. During my work day I make sure to finish it, sipping periodically throughout the day, then drink some more at home before/after dinner. I don't quiet get 64oz daily, but I'm close. Works for me.
  18. So I debated posting about this.. but I was in such awe over this, and I think only my fellow female WLS peeps can appreciate this. (And i'm grown, married, blah, blah, blah...). Hubby and I were having some special time. Off he went to "lady town" (Grey's Anatomy fans should get that). And I realized... I can *see him*. My stomach was not blocking my view of him. For the slightest second it seemed awkward cause, I've just never had that full view before. It was a serious, momentary, mind trip! So...NSV qualified, or too risque?
  19. I lost 14 pounds in my 2 week pre op diet. My diet was liquids only, (Some allow for 1 meal a day).
  20. I kind of do this too. If i crave a fast food, soda, etc I remind myself all of these chains/companies have been around 50+ years. I tell myself that if they ever announce going out of business or quitting production of something I like...maybe then I'll indulge. Until then there is no hurry for me to have one now, today, in this moment. I have a a goal to meet and more than likely, all this stuff will be there when I meet goal-- if I even want it by then.
  21. The only yogurt I eat ( Oikos greek vanilla) is mote sugar than my nut recommends. I eat it, but don't do so daily. I break up khasi's pumpkin spice flax granola and add to it to get my pumpkin fix.
  22. Yup, I get it 100%. After the first time, I don't care for the attention anymore. And like you, knowing I'm only halfway there, it feels premature. I quietly say thank you, I've been working at it and try to change the subject. Honestly though, far less comment on it that I'd anticipated would.
  23. Yup, juice is definitely a gateway for me. Only juice I drink occasionally is Apple, but I Water it down a lot so I don't get used to the sweetness.
  24. Hello! Where are you in your process? Tell us about yourself, your fears, anxiety and we'll do our best to support you!
  25. Looking good! Congrats on your success.
