  1. Hello I'm a newbie here!!! I joined for the support...I had my endoscopy on 4/3/17 and was told I have a hiatal hernia and it can be repaired during my sleeve surgery. I'm so terrified that I'm thinking about cancelling everything. Can anyone give some helpful insight on what's going on or what to expect..... Help 😐

Hi- I had my surgery 18 months ago. I too almost backed out. I had a huge hernia (size of a grapefruit!) that had to be repaired too. It is surgery so that has to be thoroughly thought about before doing it. But... I went in...counted 100, 99 and the next thing I knew I was in recovery. It hurt but in the scope of things this is such a short little blip in time. I have never had any trouble with my sleeve. I don't get an upset tummy, I did not have a change in the way food tastes, I don't get hickups...nothing. I think the real thing to know is that this is a tool- not a cure-all. If you continue to eat like you always have you will continue to be overweight. You need to do an entire mind-change.

  2. How the F*** can you gain 3 pounds when eating under 700 calories a day? I sure as heck don't know but I am getting more discouraged as each days passes. I was off the scale for a week and gained 3 pounds. Am so pissed and beginning to regret what the heck I did to my body.

I am glad that you called another dietician. 41 gram does seem low. I was told we needed a minimum of 65-90 grams a day.

My surgeon had me at 600 calories. When I last went in he told me I could now start eating between 700-800 calories. Since I last went in I have not lost any weight. It gets discouraging. I have one of those scales that tells what % fat I have and I have noticed that this number has been going down and so have my inches. I guess since I am exercising I am gaining muscle...but sure wish the weight would also drop :(

  4. Another week of not losing weight. This is only the 7th week post op. Very disappointing but not much I can do about it as I am following the plan and exercised for 4 3/4 hours on the bike this week.

I did something very similar. I lost the very first 2 weeks and then stayed the same for almost 6 weeks. I think sometime your body just needs to take a break- breathe-- and then can start losing again. I'm not a fast loser like some...but figure it doesn't matter as long as I eventually make my goal. Keep up the good work and your body will catch up.

  9. What were some of the reasons why peoples surgerys may have been postponed? I want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row

My surgeon's office is the one who scheduled everything. I had the endoscopy 2 weeks before scheduled surgery and then all the other tests (chest x-ray, blood work and ekg about a week before scheduled surgery. Talk to your surgeon and find out how they do it.

My is currently postponed due to an irregular EKG. (Not really anything you can do for this except more tests.)
