Well funny your DR is speaking for ALL DR's because I had surgery in Mexico and I have a general practitioner and an orthopedic that are all giving me care. So that is why it is best to get more opinions than one. They don't want their work outsourced which I understand but I also couldn't afford 23k and I wanted to get enjoy my life pain free... And believe me I don't think anyone who goes to Mexico after one phone call I had months and months of research my care was too notch and I would recommend it in a heart beat!

Each person is different I don't think that she is losing too fast she said she is exercising and sticking to the plan. I am 5 days post op and I am trying for 129 lbs in 8 months joined the gym and I am going to get a head start on this new life. Why be negative?

Of course Rachel that would be awesome!!! Im glad that I will have extra support while going through all of this, I know we are all going to need it! How much are you hoping to lose?

I went in January, so about 5 months after surgery. I've lost 12 lbs since then. I bought a dress in size 12, which in street clothes is a size 10. I am currently wearing size 10 street clothes, so I hope it will fit! I think it will, except around the bust area, might have to get it taken OUT!
The pesky thing about wedding dresses, is they run small...the always tell you to select a size up from what you wear in normal clothes.

I lost 26lbs on my 2 week pre-op diet and the rest since. I now loose around 10-14lbs a month. I eat 3 meals and 2 healthy Snacks a day as that's what my stomach allows. I get in 60g of Protein most the time but obviously days it can be hard and I'm drinking plenty especially when I'm working out.. I think everyone is different and my nutritionist said I'm doing great so I don't think it'll cause a weight re-gain in the future as I had countless classes years leading up to the operation and I've done well learning how my body is reacting to everything. This may not have been a negative comment but I just thought I'd be clear that I done my research way before the operation and I'm still learning so it's all good oh and I'm the same with sweet things, can't tolerate it at all! Worth it though.

I'm getting married next year June 18 2016 and I was wondering if anyone else that has had surgery is getting married soon or planning a wedding for the near future. My sleeve surgery is May 14 and I would really like to have some buddies going through the weight loss process with me while also trying to plan a wedding

The hardest is going to family functions and watching everyone eat and knowing I can't eat anything since I'm still on liquids but I can't wait until this becomes a distant memory ☺️

You will feel better. You have to realize you have had a major surgery- it is hard to remember that with just a few band aids on your stomach. I am 6 mo post and it is a faint memory now

My experience was excellent 1 week post op today. .. love the new hospital. ... Vazquez doesn't speak English and is very shy and even though I speak Spanish he had Dra. Valascao translate for him ... I feel well the nurses were amazing and I go back to work tomorrow. .. so I will let you know how that goes!

I'm scheduled end of may for a sleeve with David Vasquez. I'm anxious and exited i would love to hear more about people's experiences

People ... I need ideas.... I had sx Monday March 9th in TJ Mx.... love dr. Vazquez and gang... only pain was PCOS related... tonight I sit in my hotel room unable to sleep because I can't stop weezing and coughing... my hubby, bless him walked to the pharmacia and bought an albuterol inhaler... no I am not asthmatic... then we called the dra. And she had a Mexican musenex delivered to the room ... it has helped me to breath better but I can't lay down and sleep ... hot green tea soothes it for a min... so does ice chips ... but with the sleeve i can only drink so much... this girl needs sleep AND has an 8 hour + flight home on Friday. ... any ideas?

Dr Garcia is operating in a new hospital. It's called hospital cer. Brand spanking new. It's beautiful. I just had my surgery there on March 3rd. I've had 3 surgeries here in the states and I have to say that the care with Dr garcia and his entire team was impeccable.

I had my surgery in the states, but went with a friend to TJ and he had his surgery with Dr Garcia. Overall it was very positive experience. Dr Garcia is very soft-spoken, speaks ok english, and seems like a very competent surgeon. There is a female doctor that is on his staff who was excellent. She had a gastric bypass done a few years ago and has done very well. She speaks excellent english and is very good at explaining what you need to know. There were also 2 doctors, one of which was always there, who spoke excellent english and helped out with any questions/issues.
I was also very impressed with the plan they give you regarding post-op diet, procedures, etc. The hospital is a bit older and some of their equipment is older - for example the EKG machine. Sanitation and medical protocols were ok, but definitely behind American standards. They are definitely focused on bariatric surgery. The day my friend had surgery, there were a total of 6 gastric sleeves being done - 3 by Garcia and 3 by 2 other doctors. The hospital does other types of surgery, but they said 75%+ of their patients were gastric sleeves. Hospital only has about 15 rooms, all of which are private. Very laid back.
As the guest, the accommodations were nice. Fairly comfy bed in the room for you to use. Walmart - 5 minute walk. Excellent mexican food that delivers to the hospital. Starbucks, KFC, Dairy Queen, Carls Jr all within 5 minute walk. Beach 2 blocks away although the staff member did caution about being very careful if I went down there. TV with maybe a dozen english channels.
Package deal with hotel makes that part very easy as well. Staff at hotel has lots of bariatric patients and has necessary accommodations. We walked down to the shopping center/Cinepolis and saw a movie. Nice walk and good distraction.
Overall I thought it was a well-run operation. I'd think twice if I was a higher-risk patient. I'm not sure they'd be able to handle complications as well as other hospitals.
