It was tough. I got through it using sugar free popsicles, sugar free Jello, and broth. The broth was nice because it was not sweet. I had a lot of support from family and spent a lot of time in prayer. I am now post-op 12 days. This is hard. Your resolve to change your life needs to be your focus. It will not always be hard. Each stage will get better. I tried to think of it as a strange short term diet. We all have tried those. Make your life as easy as you can and be good to yourself. One of the biggest help was and is Bariatric Pal. It has given me help from so many who have been down this road and understand what I am facing. Enjoy your vacation!

Has anyone experienced a feeling of being sad and pissy all at the same time while going through the pre op diet? Is this normal? I have spent most of the day secluded away in my bedroom, avoiding my kid and husband.

I like GNC Total Lean. I have the ready made drinks as well as the powders. I mix my powders with Water or almond milk. I have figured out if one flavor is too prominent then I mix vanilla and chocolate. Or strawberry and vanilla. I always drink them over ice. There are lots of flavors to choose from.

From reading the forums, there is a wide variety on should and should nots. I agree with the elimination of old habits but I also recognize we are human beings. I have had pizza two bites or so... do I have it daily? Noooo. I want to be successful. I definitely don't do carbonation. I make sure to aim for the Protein and Water requirements. My biggest lag now is really getting exercise. I am at week 10 and just now getting energy levels up. We all have to find what works for us... and yet not make us miserable. For me, that means occasionally two bites of "eliminated". I log it on my fitness pal and I stay under calorie goals. We still have to support each other in spite of our differences. We got this!

pizza isn't what made me fat.....Eating a whole large pizza(s) in the past, was one of the reasons I was over 300 pounds. I'm 6 years post op now and I eat pizza occasionally. Matter of fact we had some this past Saturday evening from a local place that makes them in a wood fired oven, super thin crust...with a nice cold beer. YUM! Things that would make a dieter cringe! But I'm way past all that.... My lapband has helped change my life
PS. My "skinny" friends eat pizza, they drink a beer, have some wine, eat ice cream, etc. It's all about the VOLUME of calories I used to eat...day in and day out. Many, many more than I was burning.

@@JohnT and @@Nyelaah what you both are feeling I think happens to a lot of us. I had a couple of bites of Mexican food last night. I have skinless wings about 1-2x a month I can only eat 2 or 3 but I do eat them. I had a bite off my sons ice dream sandwich about 2 weeks ago (it was o.k. but I really didn't anymore). Point is I am still eating (tasting) some things that a lot of people say you will never have again. I just don't eat them in the qty or amount that I did pre-surgery. I have had a couple of sips of wine. I haven't had some things (carbonated drinks, beer, Fireball whiskey, Tequila etc). I also haven't missed them. I did get a couple of bites of pizza about 3 weeks out and thought to myself, "I really don't want it".
No regrets, I am slowly (in my 3rd stall) losing the weight. I am trying to get more Water in daily and I feel so much better.

Hello all, So yesterday morning I awoke, got on the scale and hit the 212 pound mark. which puts my weight loss at 150 pounds down. I was stunned to say the least. It really makes for a great day. The weight loss numbers are wonderful, but i also just bought some new shorts and fit into a size 36 , or a mens medium, now instead of the 56 and a 4xl last summer. Now that really makes for a great day.
This morning i logged into Facebook and the folks over at Si03.com aka the makers of Syntrax Protein products, sent me a wonderful message. They are starting a new social media campaign, called Transformation Tuesdays. They asked me to be their first subject, and would like before and after pictures of me and the link to my blog to be featured on their Facebook site and twitter feed.
I almost came to tears just reading their message. So tomorrow, if you would like, feel free to check out the syntrax facebook page and see me there lol. just kidding you don't have to go, But I wanted to share this bit of a success with so many here who have helped me along the way. And to show anyone who hasn't got to where they want to be yet, that we can do this.

Hi! My surgery is July 17. I am on similar preop diet. I also started my diet on Monday. I feel anxious and even slightly questioning my decision. I was confident and just going though the motions for he past few months but I remind myself each day it's for the best.

I started my journey on May 19. At which time I attended a free seminar that tells you all about the surgery options and just general information. It was very helpful in assisting me with what type of bariatric surgery that was best for me. So I will be sleeved! I had my first appointment with my surgeon back in June. My insurance requires that I take 6 months of nutrition classes. So my first class was in June. Next class takes place July 20. Then it's a busy month August with appointments to cardiologist and pulmonary. Then 3rd nutrition class plus my egd test. Every thing I go to creates excitement and nervousness at the same time. I just wanted to let everyone know that this is by no means the easy way out! Don't be discouraged! You can do this! More to follow......

I have been thinking of this for awhile and finally tried it! Salsa is hard but bachata is fun! It is too bad so few men like to dance but I hear that the"salsa scene" is less like that. I have also found a place to practice my very limited swing dancing skills so planning on those social dances too.
I am really looking forward to getting a bit more confident and brushing up the few dance skills i do have!

I am not in a relationship right now, trying to avoid diving into one..just taking it slow. It is a great time to work on stuff I want to do/get better at.
