    Starting Over

Stephanie; We are in t he same boat. I had my lap band a year ago May - lost 65 lbs - had some life interfere and the old habits started coming back - I want so badly to start over - not sure I know how - please keep in touch - maybe together we can do it. I have joined a wellness center with a pool and am trying to go every morning - I have so much arthritis (two knees, one hip, I am fused from T-10 all the way down) so the Water is so good in many ways - but it is also exercise - I'll be watching for you CraftLady 77

    Fixated on the scale

When that happened to me my counselor suggested that I not worry about the scale but start measuring myself - sure enough I was loosing inches - start a graph for yourself and see if that isn't the case.

    Band too tight?

Hi Christine Z: When I have a fill I have to have liquids and soft foods for 48 hours afterward - of course small sips are important - I just keep it trickling most of the time - If you don't chew enough or eat too fast it will hurt and you may lose it all toghether. Craftlady77
  6. Good Morning Magic Mojo: I agree with you about the eggs - I am 11 months post surgery and I have trouble with scrambled eggs every morning that I have them - I've been told that part of the reason is that the stomach is relaxed during the night and that is the first food in hours thus difficult - I have learned to start my day with the Protein shake - then around 10 or so I have something solid - it seems to work. I also find that if I drink ice Water and sip it constantly (just small sips) that I don't have any trouble - I am finding that the ice water is a treat. Craftlady
  7. Hi Mojo: We sound enough alike that we could be sisters - I am 77 years old - I've been heavy all my life I weighed 267 and this was my gift to myself - last May 30, 2014 I had Lap Band surgery - I did very well losing 65 lbs by September - then my husband and I moved into an assisted living facility - it was a big mistake for many reasons - the worst was the food - all fried including the vegetables - there were hardly no vegetables - Protein was scarce - we went back to our apartment hungry - then I started getting in food for us to eat in the apartment - not what I needed - but the old habits started coming back - I started putting on a pound or two - We have moved away from that situation back into an apartment where I am the captain of the kitchen - I'm beginning to be able to get back on the good foods (protein) again - you are right - lap band is just a tool - it is not the magic answer - but I haven't come this far not to keep on plugging - it is so hard!! - I need a buddy to share with - get ideas from - just to hang with - My husband is a retired United Methodist Minister - we had 44 years of service - we have two married daughters and three grandsons - two are 29 and one is 27 - two of them are married now - third one is still looking - I hope we can be friends - good luck to you.

My story 1yr and 3 months later

Congratulations - that is great - I had my lap-band on May 30, 2014 - 9 months ago - I did very well at first and lost 65 lbs - I started at 267 - Then we moved into an assisted living situation where we have three meals a day - I am no longer "captain of my own ship" and try as I may - I have started to gain a little. We are changing our living conditions and again moving back into our own apartment and I will be doing all our cooking again - I can't wait - I am just hoping that I can get back into the motivated groove again - I so want to lose the rest of the weight!! Did you hit bad spots like this?

    Finally banded!

I am new to this website - don't know where to tell my story - will do it here to start. I had my lap band last May at a weight of 267 and did very well for 4 months. Then my husband and I moved to an Assisted Living facility where we have among other things 3 meals a day - when I was captain of my own ship I had no problems loosing 65 lbs. by the middle of September - then we moved and it has been down hill ever since to the place that we are going to move out of here and back into our own apartment again - meanwhile I have lost the momentum and have gone back to old habits. I can't let this happen - I have come too far and have a big commitment to stick!!
