It always amazes me how people have so many opinions about other people's lives, and how desperate they are to share them.
Here's the thing, life does not come with a user's manual. It's all about on the job training. Tell them you're thrilled that they've got your life all figured out, and you'll get back to them next week with suggestions on how they can improve theirs.
You started this post full of wonder and joy, feeling better, looking better. That's a bonafide life rush. Don't let them spoil your buzz.
You're perfect! And I bet there will be a lot less nit picking from the peanut gallery as they continue to watch you shrink right in front of their eyes. ????

Good luck to all of you guys! That pre op diet will set you up for success and although it is hard, it is so worth it in the end. After a couple of days you won't even be able to finish all the Protein shakes you are allowed to have.
I hope you all have a safe and speedy recovery!

I can say it was the same thing so many people mention...and it is, but I hit an all time low. I guess my rock bottom.
My mother died..I spent the next 6 months of my life buried up to my neck in food...in all her recipes, trying to recreate each one over, and over, and over. Eating my way through the grief until I gained 40 more lbs, and then my heart started to not work right. I am in Grade 1 heart failure, blood pressure sky high, working my heart too much, all this excess weight....I graduate from a cane to walker, and then my blood sugars are out of control, Dr. put me on 2 oral diabetes meds, then 2 different kinds of insulin. I was giving myself 4 injections minimum, and taking over 20 pills, every day.
On an office visit to try to slap a band-aid on knees that need replacement, (which won't happen until I lose a considerable amount of weight), my Dr. looked me in the eyes, and told me if I didn't stop, I was going to die.
I knew then....I had to make some major life changes, but not just a surgery to make my stomach tiny.
I needed to work through all the many reasons why I used food, what it meant to me, what it had become to me and and why I was so addicted to it.
Those were the demons that were/are harder to deal with than the 8 month program, and the 4.5 hours I spent on that operating table.
I haven't had to take 3 of 4 diabetes medications in days......
They stopped 2 of my heart medications last night......
Already my health is improving. I did it for the right purposes, and I dug deeper than I thought I would, so I could also do it for the best purposes, because it was time for me to let go of my protection I had used for so many years. My fat.
I am taking this day by day. I can't even predict what the results will be.
I only know I am motivated, at 49, to change my life, and become the person I was meant to be.

Caseylynn reacted to Djmohr in Drinking too much?
As long as you are sipping and not gulping you cannot overdo you Water. The best thing your body needs right now is fluids to stay hydrated. They DO NOT stretch your pouch, Water runs right through.
In the beginning the only way I could get 64 ounces in was to contastly hold my water bottle in my hand and sip like crazy.
If you drink to fast, you will feel pain from it, I still feel that at 7.5 months post op.
Don't worry it is fantastic that you are able to drink so much. It may be that you are healing quickly and the swelling has gone down for you.
    Congratulations!

For me it was the fact that I lost 80lbs once and gained it all back. My Dr always thought I could do it again myself but it just never happened. I have Gerd, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and am now diabetic. Lately my knees have been aching and I seem to have lost all the energy I once had even though I have always been heavy and was always active. I am 50 and have a great husband, job, and a good life. I wake up every day and the first thing I think of is "yup I am fat, yes I am achey' and let's take all those pills!! One month until surgery. I am 95% sure I am going through with it. Just scared.

I would do it one hundred times again my only regret is that I did not do it early. The things that I can do now with my family as well as for myself is great. My doctor is so proud of me, I was off all of my meds before leaving the hospital but as of Friday it is official all of my comorbidity are gone which included a Type 2 diabetic, high blood pressure, and high chloysterial. My A1C level is a 4 . I am Loving Life agin and I am a gym buff and go to the gym five times per week and work out for 2 hours . I would have never even walk into a gym before this surgery , I have confidence and I am the now envy by others . I am only 9 months post opt but I know that I will reach my goal. This process and preparation has taught me a lot about myself as well as a lot about what is really important in life. As well as I learned that some of your so called friends are really not your friends . This is a new lifestyle changed that is very important for you. I wish your look on your journey. You got this,

I am 66 years old. I had diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure and several other conditions. I am 20 months post-op from RNY surgery. All those conditions went into remission shortly after the operation. Most were gone by the time I left the hospital two days after the operation.
