  1. I haven't been on here in years, but I just wanted to make a quick comment. I was banded Sept 2005, got pregnant Aug 2006 & had a complete unfill at OB's request. Got re-filled when baby was about 4 months old (2.0 cc) and got pregnant again Sept 2008. I am currently 29 weeks pregnant and have not had an unfill. I can't afford to b/c my employer changed insurance companies, and my band doctor does not take the insurance that I have now. My OB hasn't said anything about getting unfilled. I have to go to a high risk OB in addition to my regular OB, and the high risk dr does ultrasounds to measure the baby once a month. The baby is growing just fine, and my regular OB is happy about that. I have only gained 8 pounds so far, but as long as the baby is growng normally, everybody is happy.

    Soft Stop Anyone???

My soft stop is a burp. I'm also battling tremendously with head hunger.
  3. I was banded two years ago and just had a baby. I had PCOS before getting banded, so of course, I couldn't get pregnant. When I lost a little over 50 lbs, I stopped taking my birth control pills and got pregnant almost immediately. I didn't have any issues throughout the pregnancy except for high blood pressure, and low platelet count (symptom of anemia). Both my OB and my band dr told me to get unfilled early in the pregnancy for the extra nutrition. Within about two months of having the baby, I was back down to my pre-pregnancy weight, but I have gained back about 11 lbs since. I got my band refilled a couple of days ago and now I'm getting back on the bandwagon to lose the rest of the weight and hopefully in the near future try for another baby.
  4. I have 2.0cc in a 4cc band. I have been banded for almost 2 years. Highest amount fluid I had was 2.8cc. Unfilled last year due to getting pregnant.
  5. Hi all! I haven't been on LBT in a very long time. I was banded in 2005 and lost about 50 lbs, got pregnant & had a baby, and now I'm about to get back on the lap-bandwagon. I'm scheduled for a fill this week and I don't know why but I'm nervous about it. I let my good eating habits fall to the wayside when I got my band unfilled, and I know I will need help getting back into the groove. The good thing is, at least I haven't put ALL my weight back on, but it has been creeping up there since I had the baby so that's why I decided to go ahead and nip this thing in the bud.
  6. Were any of you told by your OB that you had/have complications directly related to banding? I just returned from an appt and my dr said that my low platelet count was due to malabsorption of Vitamins from the band, and in addition to the prenatal vitamins, I have to take a multi-vitamin and have Vitamin K shots. I also have to have fetal non-stress tests and biophysical profiles done every other week. Thanks for any replies.
  7. Thanks for your responses. My OB actually contacted a high risk OB about my case because my platelet count was too low. It wasn't anemia or lupus. I don't know... it could be that the baby is absorbing all the vitamins first, and just not leaving enough for me. The baby is doing great. She is very active and is growing right on target. The only thing is that I have to those pesky non stress tests, and the baby doesn't stay still long enough for them to get a continuous reading of her heartbeat. We'll see how all of this pans out.
  8. I haven't been around in a while because I've been pre-occupied with my pregnancy. I called my band surgeon's office as soon as I found out I was pregnant and they suggested that I have an un-fill as soon as possible, due to the potential for slippage with morning sickness. (which, by the way I still have morning sickness, evening sickness...) My OB also wanted me to have an un-fill because she was concerned about getting proper nutrition. And of course, due to me having an un-fill at 6 weeks pregnant, I have now gained 12 lbs in only 10 weeks (I'm 16 weeks now).
  9. I haven't been around in a few months, but I wanted to give you all an update. After battling with PCOS and obesity, I just recently found out that I'm finally pregnant. :preggers: This is child #2... 12, yes TWELVE years apart (same daddy).

    Pregnant

It was pure luck for me. I continued to take birth control pills because I wanted to lose a significant amount of weight before trying to get pregnant (lost 52 lbs total but gained back about 8-- the 52lb weight loss put me at 194). I stopped the pill in mid-July, got my period in July right after stopping the pill, and then got my period again in August (I would assume my cycle regulated itself by then- 28 days). I looked up one of those online ovulation calendars and it said I should ovulate between Aug 28 & Sept 2, so DH & I did the deed every single day that week. The rest, as they say, is history. I had a feeling that I was already pregnant around Sept 11, but my period was still a few days away. So I waited until I was 2 days late to take a home pregnancy test. Came out positive with a faint line. Took test again the next day- positive with a dark line. Went to my gyno on the 19th (Tuesday) and she confirmed the pregnancy. My first OB visit isn't until Nov 1 when I'm right around 11 weeks.

    Bad Bread....Baaaaaaad Bread.....

Ooh, P'Nut I'm going to try this. I had depended on chicken as a good source of protein for a long time after being banded and now I can't even tolerate it.

    Thirtysomething's

Hi everyone! I'm Christi, 32 yrs old, married 8 yrs, 11 yr old daughter. Diagnosed w/ PCOS in 2001, gained weight steadily ever since. With the help of one of my girlfriends, I have recently discovered that I had body dismorphic disorder back in high school when I weighed 130 lbs and still thought I was a porker. Banded Sept. 14, 2005 and have lost 52 lbs to date. Weight has stalled since April, but it's my own fault (eating junk more often than I should). I have made a resolve to lose at least another 8-10 lbs (for a total of 60 lbs) by my bandiversary in 3 months.
  15. I'm almost 8 months post-band, and I have been able to tolerate chicken very well until recently. I have PB'd TWICE in two weeks on chicken. What's up with that? The 2nd time happened last night while I was at the mall with DD in the food court. You know how some of the restaurants have bite-sized pieces on a toothpick for you to sample? Well, I sampled 3 different varieties of chicken back to back. BAD IDEA!!! I knew one piece was kinda dry, but I figured, hey, I'll just wash it down with some Water. Ouch, ouch, ouch!!!! Then it happened... eyes started tearing up, heart began pounding, chest hurt. I had to make a mad dash for the parking lot and out it came. I don't understand why I have been able to eat chicken before, but now all of a sudden I can't! Oh well,,, I guess I'll have to add this to my list of foods to avoid.

    What's the deal with chicken?

I don't eat pasta very often, but when I do I usually don't have a problem with it, as long as there is plenty of sauce on it to help it go down.
  17. cissy

    what's the difference?

by all means, do not drink anything. Leatha made a wonderful point to me regarding drinking with a PB. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=18343&highlight=what%27s+the+deal+with+chicken
  18. I can not tolerate bread, tortillas, chicken, french fries, haven't tried steak, but I can do ground beef or sirloin. Sometimes tuna gives me problems if I don't have enough wetness to it (ie mayo). Afraid to try roast beef, even though I LOVED it before being banded. Oh, and I tried cake a couple of weeks ago for the first time since being banded and could not tolerate it.

    Sept 2005 bandsters post here!!

I had originally expected to be closer to goal by now but I have been at a plateau since April. On the other hand, I have dropped another size since April, so I guess my body is just catching up with the weight loss. I really would like to see the scales move again though... I wanted to be FINE by summer
  20. I agree- I would like to have Toccara's body. Thick & curves in the right places.
  21. cissy

    Loose Skin?

I'm over halfway to my goal and have stretch marks all over my belly. After I had my daughter, my stomach drooped over and has only gotten worse since gaining & losing weight. I would like to have TT as I get closer to my goal because that area of my stomach just looks deflated. I also have "batwings" but I don't plan to do surgically anything about that. I've started lifting weights as part of my exercise regime so hopefully that will help a little.
  22. cissy

    Be honest....

If it was just slime/golf ball, no. If it's a full-blown PB, just liquids. I don't eat anything until the next day.

    NSV for me!

    OK- I started exercising with Turbo Jam a little over a month ago. (and I am totally addicted) I have not lost a single pound since April 14th (still at 195) but I have lost a total of 10" in this period of time. 10 inches! That brings my total inches lost since surgery date to 30 1/2 inches. Two and a half feet of volume gone forever! I'm pumped. Measurements 9/14/05 vs. 4/18/06 vs. 5/24/06 bust: 47 1/2 ---> 43 ---> 42 (-5 1/2) chest: didn't measure in the beginning ---> 40 1/2 ---> 38 (-2 1/2 with turbo jam) waist: 48 ---> 39 ---> 35 (-13) hips: 51 ---> 45 1/2 ---> 43 (-8) thigh: 28 ---> 25 ---> 25 (-3) arm: 15 ---> 14 1/2 ---> 14 (-1) I started out a size 22W, and I have gone from a size 16 to a 14 in just the last month.

    NSV for me!

Turbo Jam is a series of workouts in the Beach Body line. It's a combination of kicks, punches, and dancing. Once I got the hang of the steps, it was easy to follow, not so easy on getting out of breath. It's fun to me! The music gets you going. You go girl! It was the opposite for me. I hardly broke a sweat in the beginning, but I figured out it was because I wasn't working as hard as I could have been. Now I sweat a pretty good deal on the 20-minute workout, but on the 45-minute workout I get soaked!
  25. totally normal. I was so hungry between meals until I got my first fill at 5 1/2 weeks post op. Then no more hunger.
