  1. I'm a pisces, hence the 315 in my name.
  2. Hi sweetmo: How much research have you done on this doctor? If he's just concentrating on the cosmetic aspects of weight loss, he might be one of the "weekend seminar" doctors who are only in it for a quick buck. Try posting a request on the Doctors and Hospitals forum http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f11/ to see if anyone else has had any experience with you doctor. Good luck.
  3. Highest BMI 44.8 Current BMI 41.2 Had my psych eval 11/20, first consult with Dr Edwards is on 12/4.
  4. I haven't had surgery yet, and while I find the rapid weight loss from GB tempting, I'm leaning towards the lap band due to a point the doctor brought up at the WLS seminar. He mentioned that if you should get cancer some time after WLS, the band can be unfilled so your body can get more nutrition while you fight the cancer. With GB, there's no going back. We have a history of colon cancer in my family and I've already had one biopsy showing precancerous cells, so lap band may the the safest option for me in the future. Karen
  5. I'm just starting to jump thru the hoops to get insurance approval. My first visit with Dr Edwards is on 12/4 and I had my psych eval this morning with Katy Waldron. (She's very nice.) I didn't leave in a straight jacket, so I guess I passed. :-) I'm not sure if I'll go with Lap Band or bypass and will decide that after the consult with Dr Edwards. I'm assuming some of you also considered bypass. What were some of the factors that made you choose Lap Band? Enquiring minds want to know. KJL
  6. Try Dr Christopher Edwards at St John's in Springfield. 417-820-3800. KJL
