You are an inspiration. I wish I would have done this at your age and not waited till my 40s. I got the lapband 11/12/12 my weight that day was 252. I got down comfortably to 175ish but started having problems with constant vomiting of even Water. Around 3/14 I was at my sickest dropped another 10 pounds but was obviously sick. Had band opened about 1/2 way and gained 30 pounds in a month. And could only hold down creamy starchy sugary foods. Aka ice cream and lattes. So tried everything till finally a friend told me about a surgeon who wouldn't make me jump through hoops to transition. She was in the same boat and was about 6 week sleeved. I called and he happened to have a cancelation that day and also a surgery cancel for 3 weeks later. He called my bcbs and pleaded my case and here I am 10 days sleeved. We didn't even bother with the regular insurance process. I was 5'7 199 lbs and not diabetic. Is be denied. But he called and explained that I would be sick within a few months with in and regain it all with the band out and then sick. Somehow they agreed. My surgeon is quite charming. So here I am. 4 days shy of turning 46, sleeved 10 days ago. Weighted in at 189 today! 10 down! No goal weight. Pants size goal sz 8 or lower permanently. Sz 14 as of surgery. Haven't ventured our of yoga pants yet!

I am 16 months out. I never made goal I still need to lose 40 pounds . My lowest weight was 173 in August. I had gained weight and was at 187 at my dr. Visit last week. Needless to say my surgeon challenged me to lose 10 pounds in two months. Told him I thouj my sleeve was broken. Turns out I have been grazing. I kept saying few snack won't hurt me. They have killed me and Im so mad at myself. I'm going to Paris in June and want to look fab.
This week went back to basics and have lost 6 pounds since monday. I have gone back to basics as everyone on here suggested and it works. 1 Protein shake in morning , greek yogurt for lunch. Lean Protein for snack when get home from work. Additional lean protein around 7 pm. Also have gotten in all my Water something I never did before. Keeping my carbs at 20 grams and my protein at 90. I am so grateful. That I have this forum to see that I'm not alone on this journey

Ok I have a new one. Went to a event with my friend last night . A guy was talking to us. I figured he was there to flirt with her. Nope it was me. And she was ugly about it lol. I really didn't get he was flirting with me. Thought he was just friendly until he asked for my number. ????????????. I was so shocked lol

I am so glad I found this topic. Of course it wasn't too hard since I, too, had my surgery on 11-24 . I've been feeling a little discouraged lately because of my stall. I lost 30 pounds within the first 3 1/2 weeks post-op. I'm now almost 8 weeks out and I've lost nothing since that loss (fortunately no gains either). What I've read here gives me hope that my RNY wasn't in vain. Thanks to you all!!

Emsgirl and Sarina: I think 21 pounds is good! Don't be deceived by all the numbers you see that are posted by others. For instance, my ticker says I lost 56 pounds... and that is true. But, half of them were pre-op and took me 4.5 months!
Since the actual surgery my wl is 29 lbs. If you do the math, 29 divided by the 7.5 weeks since surgery = 3.8 pounds per week. I don't know about you, but, I NEVER averaged almost 4 pounds a week for this long of a period.
Another example: 21 pounds, 7 weeks = average of 3 pounds a week! That is awesome!
I think we get delusional because right after surgery we dropped fast. And, now, we keep having stalls, then a drop, then stalls, then a drop. We want to see the dial move EVERY day. It's just not going to happen that way.

Hey Gang! I went to a support group meeting and wanted to share info with you. One of the Administrators of our program did a college research project on people who had wls between 2009 and 2013 - basically, people who were over 1 year out from surgery. She categorized the group into 3 segments. 1. Those who maintained their weight. 2. Those who marginally gained weight (1 - 10 pounds from their lowest or target) 3. Those who regained (11+ pounds).
The key factors that people stressed to stay the course are:
    1. Have a solid support group - bariatric pal was mentioned as a great source, plus the ones through your physician's office, and, family/friends
    2. Continue to journal your food
    3. Exercise
    4. Even though your stomach limits your intake, make sure your intake is good stuff. (Protein bar in one hand, jelly donut in the other.... pick the Protein bar!)
    5. Keeping your appointments with the doctor and nutritionist
    6. Don't fall back into old habits
    7. Alcohol - although many of the maintainers said they do drink alcohol, they limit it to one or two drinks once a week or less
I don't have the stats with me regarding what percentage maintained, marginally gained and really gained. But, when I get them I will share with ya'll! (And, no, I am not from the south. Just felt like saying ya'll).

You don't have to smack me! Went to the YMCA yesterday and did the recumbent bike for 70'minutes! (A good show was on and I wanted to see the end) This morning I woke up to a 3 pound loss. Maybe there is something to the "shake your routine up" statement.
Knee was pretty swollen today, though. (Very old sports injury).

I have the same problem. Unfortunately the women in my family are plagued with bigger bellies then butts. No matter their size. My tiny mom suggested men's jeans. Works for her but no way I was gonna do that. Well for Christmas she bought a pair of 32 x 30 for my very skinny tall 16 year old son. Way to big and way to short for him. I said wth and slipped them on and guess what? My mother wAs right about the butt fit for us! And they don't slide off. They are just plain jeans but fit!!

Monday makes 6 weeks. While I wish I could say i have lost a ton of lbs so far but only 24. Which is fine. I know things will keep moving along as long as I do my part. The great news is if was able to resume my position in my volunteer fire department. Meaning my dr completely cleared me. I've been back to my regular job for a while. But I am a licensed emt for my local fire department. And it's very physical work. I started back on 1/1 and have been on a few calls. My strength is some what low but I feel much more nimble in my ambulance. I am so glad to be back out there. And feels good having more breathing room in my uniform. Love to hear how others are feeling

I still have a ways to go and a big stomach but I am loving my new sizes, back into boots, leggings, my old clothes ( what I can find). the biggest experiment for me, getting into leather pants and sexier duds. what fun. I discovered born boots and shoes which fit me well and am rocking ebay. I also do a lot of alterations from my favorites moving on down. since I sew a lot it is not so hard. most of the clothes I made I planned to make easy to take in and alter. It is fantastic to wear a 16 again and some mediums. also I found the lessons I learned about eating with the sleeve have really helped my elderly mother who has struggled with anorexia since she got sick. we drink our Premier Protein shakes and try to eat well. I am still looking for a few favorite outfits lost in my storage but am so happy to have fun stuff to wear. onward and downward. now it starts to get good, and I cant wait to get my cute hourglass/small waist back. love sara

I didn't know it, but turns out I love leggings! I went home for Christmas and delved into my sister's closet. She's always been thin and fashionable. After all the compliments I got on this Christmas Eve outfit I went out and bought two pairs of my own...on sale, of course!
