    Something I made before my surgery that I'm excited to have post-surgery: boiled butter Beans (otherwise known as mature Lima beans), with a little bit of salt, olive oil, and fresh lime zest. Mash those beauties up and you've got yourself a treat!

    I'm 2 weeks out and just had a tuna avocado Naruto roll - wrapped in cucumber instead of rice. Chewed to a mush, of course. It seems to be doing just fine! Hooray! ????

    The only time I've puked post-surgery was caused by sugar free gum. That said, Protein Shakes and other sugar free foods have gone down fine.

    Yes, at first I was nauseated just thinking about eating. I also vomited very few days from eating 3 tablespoons of food intend of 2. It's getting better now.
    The nurse told me that I can eat something that irritates my stomach and cause it to swell a bit creating less room for food. A couple of times I've had to go back on all liquids to quiet things down. She also told me it's pretty hard and pretty unlikely to be get malnutrition.
    I have also found that one day I feel hungry and then the next few I'm not.
    Best wishes to you!

    Yes, I find myself eating because I *have* to eat, not because I'm hungry. I had my surgery on 1/13, so I'm a little ahead of you. I'm hoping that by keeping up with the Vitamins, Calcium, etc and trying to get my Protein close to 80g each day will keep me from becoming malnourished.

    SLOW-COOKER SALSA CHICKEN!
    This is low fat and Low Carb
    Ingredients
    2 lbs. (32 oz.) chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
    1 cup salsa, homemade or purchased
    1 cup petite diced canned tomatoes (choose low-sodium)
    2 tbsp. taco seasoning
    1 cup onions, diced fine
    1/2 cup celery diced fine
    1/2 cup carrots, shredded (you can leave these out if you are concerned about the carbs)
    3 tbsp. sour cream, reduced fat (can use regular sour cream if you like)
    Directions
    Place the chicken in a slow cooker. Sprinkle the taco seasoning over the meat then layer the vegetables and salsa on top. Pour a half cup Water over the mixture, set on low and cook for 6-8 hours. The meat is cooked when it shreds or reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. When ready to serve, break up the chicken with two forks then stir in the sour cream.
    Makes eight 1 cup servings.

    Fat: 2.5g;
    Carbohydrates: 7.3g;
    Protein: 27.6g
    I omitted the carrots and celery and added one can of pinto Beans and 2 cans of black Beans (both drained and rinsed)
    It does add carbs, but it also adds Fiber and tastes amazing! I would add a bit more seasoning in if you do the beans or it may seem a bit bland. It also tastes GREAT without the sour cream!

    Fat: 3 g
    Carbs: 32
    Dietary Fiber: 8 g
    Protein: 32
    Granted I cannot eat a whole cup in one sitting to get the 32 grams Protein.. but I eat 1/2 a cup a few hours apart...

    I was starting to get worried that my stomach was too big, or that I'd never even HAD the surgery! (I know, super silly thoughts.) I've been able to get down liquids and soft cheeses and even little rice crackers, no prob! Yesterday I had a single serving microwaveable bowl of mac and cheese, and even a tiny piece of chicken (all well-chewed, of course, and I stayed within my calories and hit my protein). No problems at all. BUT! I just made myself a cup of turkey chili, and I couldn't even get through a third of it. It's weirdly comforting to feel that full. ????

    I've been having some crazy cravings! Sushi and chicken Parm, pizza, and a hamburger from McDonalds would be the biggest things on my list. BUT more than that, I keep having dreams where I eat things (two nights ago it was pizza and cake, last night it was jelly beans) to excess and then I wake up with a stomachache! It goes away after my brain realizes I didn't eat them, but still!

    I have been listening to Dr. Duc Vuong's podcast about successful wls patients. He has one of the highest success rates with wls patients in the country. What he says about the one thing that a patient can do to insure success at weight loss and keeping the weight off is to let the overweight food addicted person you once were die. Just let her die. So tonight I lit the candles all over my house....I brought the last alcohol I will drink in a while. I toasted all the coping mechanisms that kept me safe from harm...the fat that kept me unattractive to the men who would abuse me.....the food that made me feel better on cold lonely nights. The thick layer of distance I put between me and the cruelty of the world. And I said goodbye. It is sad, it is hard, I'm not sure how I am going to cope without that protective false self to keep me safe. But she's dead and I am going to let her die. I hope you will all join me in saying "Thank you fat self for all the years of keeping me safe and invisible from the world. But now I'm old enough, strong enough and experienced enough to take care of myself without you."
    Ashes to ashes
    Dust to dust
    Goodbye.

    @@greatestnameever funny that you mention dreams! I had a dream where I was floating down a river in a plastic tub and there were decorated sheet cakes floating down the river, too...and I would grab one after the other and just go to town- like pie-eating contest style. I woke up feeling a sugar high and queasy. Tried to look up the meaning to that dream and...yeah...I think that one was too weird for the dream dictionary. LOL

    You've done great! Having a little treat on a fun vacation is fine. Also, crab has plenty of protein! If I couldn't have a drink once in a while post surgery I wouldn't have done it.
