so I don't know about you ladies but my monthly cycles were really off and CRAZY heavy so I called my surgeon and he told me since I was having rapid weight loss to go see my ob/gyn and get the depo shot to hold off my periods until I was almost at goal and my body would regulate again. So I went today and I have pcos which is not uncommon but she is like hey you are just bleeding to bleed you are not able to ever get pregnant again cause your uterus is twice the normal size ect ect ect. Great, awesome, oh that explains the slow weight loss and who knows what else...good thing is I did get my shot and shouldn't get my monthly anymore. Ugh just annoying!

You know I was really stalling out and thought man what in the heck is going on? So I talk to my surgeon, my nut and my trainer and even though 90% of the time I never go over 1000 calories myself they said I need to go a little higher sometimes to break that stall. So for two days I ate 1500 calories introduced some carbs that I would not normally and took off three days from the gym and when I got back on track and broke though that stall. It was kinda torture to miss the work outs and eat some thing but it was worth it cause nothing is more annoying and disheartening then hitting a stall when you are doing so well! Good luck!

I have said to myself so many times geez did I do the right thing? I wish so many other those days that I wish I could eat a regular meal and not feel sick and then drink something during my meals so my mouth doesn't get dry then I walk by my closet and see my fat jeans staring me in the face and remember, man I definitely made the right choice. I'm healthier, stronger and so much more happy since I started. Hang in there and you too will come the the conclusion like most of us did, that it is soooo worth it! Good luck and stay strong!

Personal experience don't listen to them all the time. Its just a check up and if you do well with smaller meals then you do what is best for you. I too eat three meals a day and 2-3 Snacks. My Nut said as long as my snacks aren't carb loaded and are made with the awareness they are just a snack then it is ok. I tend to get hungry every couple of hours myself. I'm like you when someone makes a negative comment and just turn back to my old eating habits. I think it is because I'm in control of my bad eating habits and since I can't control others opinions of me I just eat. So dumb but I do it. Keep your head up and listen to your own body. Everyone is different.

I stalled for a month. So frustrating and I thought what was I doing wrong? Nothing my body just needed some time to adjust and I also realized I was eating ENOUGH for as much as I worked out. So take that into consideration. I was only eat 400-500 calories a day and worked out 6 days a week and not some light jogging or walking either. So I upped my calories and really focused on getting the right types of food in and it broke my stall. Just hand in there. our body's our mysterious things

I completely agree with you, no one understands. Stay strong! Try eatting something out of the norm to throw your body off, that always seemed to help me. I would eat triscuit n squeeze cheese and crab dip then a Breakfast burrito and steak for dinner just random things.

I made goal ???? I am now a 127 lb girl. My goal was 130 those last few lbs were hanging on forever. So here's some of my advice the scale is a liar. When I wasn't losing I really was.. I was dropping sizes, one week my body was all weird looking the next it was evening out all my saggy areas. So I believe I'm entering the body image phase. Like who am I? I look weird deflated..has my nose always been this big or was it buried under my old chubby cheeks? If one more person says wow April you've lost a whole person I'm throat punching them..It's such a mental game..anyways I rewarded myself by buying jeans you know the kind that has the measurements I'm a 26 x27 not a 17,16,15,14, etc so keep up the great work it will come off and let's try and keep our minds strong )

Thank you for the info and encouragement. I continue to eat 5 small meals where one meal might be some yogurt and cottage cheese. I am in a stall at 200 pounds. I keep wondering if my body is on hold or I'm having a mental fear of being below 200. It's the weight I've reach before and then gone back up.
In any event, I'm going going up and listening to what I need. My downfall is rice crackers---I eat a few at a meal to get some crunch. I may have to give them up. I like them to much. Not a lot of calories but I eat too many.
Best to everyone! I appreciate the support from this group! And need it.

WINNING ENTRIES TO PREMIERE AT OBESITYWEEK 2015 IN LOS Angeles IN NOVEMBER
GAINESVILLE, FL – Aug. 12, 2015 – Time is running out for members of the public to submit short films or videos about obesity, the nation’s number one public health threat. The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) is sponsoring “It Starts Now,” a national contest that will award winners up to $5,000 and a trip to Los Angeles, where winning entries will premiere during ObesityWeek 2015.

Entries must be received by October 23, 2015. Visit itstartsnow.asmbs.org for instructions on how to enter.

“Anyone 18 and older with a video camera or smartphone can submit their stories in any genre,” said John M. Morton, MD, MPH, president of the ASMBS. “We’re looking for videos or films that are inspirational or make people think differently about obesity.”

Videos or films of five minutes or less are being sought that creatively inspire, motivate and educate the country about issues related to obesity. Submissions will be judged on originality, creativity, direction, content and thoughtfulness.

A grand prize of $5,000 will be presented in Los Angeles, CA during ObesityWeek 2015 (Nov. 2 to Nov. 7, 2015), the largest international event focused on the basic science, clinical application and prevention and treatment of obesity. The second place winner will receive $3,500 and two third place winners will get $1,500 each.

It Starts Now judges include Emmy Award-winning writer and producer, Perry Rein; journalist Dan Childs, managing editor, medical coverage, ABC News; screenplay writer of Remember the Titans, Gregory Allen Howard; Jamie Dukes, NFL Network commentator and former NFL player; and Dr. Morton.

Videos or films should address the topic of obesity and can be of any genre including drama, documentary, animation, journalism, public service announcements, experimental or music videos. There is no fee for submission.

Some ideas for video and filmmakers to consider include:
What makes obesity a disease like cancer or heart disease Treating Obesity as a Disease with counseling, medications, surgery Obesity in America The Health and Economic Consequences of Obesity Obesity Affects Everyone Obesity: Balancing Prevention and Treatment Strategies Combatting weight stigma and discrimination Life transformations and personal struggles and triumphs Solutions to the obesity epidemic The ASMBS seeks to build upon its previous motivational video, It Starts Today. This motivational video tells three stories from the perspectives of a nurse, military veteran and former NFL player. Watch it at http://asmbs.org/video-it-starts-today-obesity-surgery-helps-people-reclaim-their-lives.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports more than 72 million Americans have obesity and, according to the ASMBS, about 24 million have severe obesity. Individuals with a body mass index (BMI) greater than 30 have a 50 to 100 percent increased risk of premature death compared to healthy weight individuals, as well as an increased risk of developing more than 30 obesity-related diseases and conditions including Type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain cancers. In 2013, the American Medical Association (AMA) declared obesity a disease.

    About the ASMBS
The ASMBS is the largest organization for bariatric surgeons in the nation. It is a non-profit organization that works to advance the art and science of bariatric surgery and is committed to educating medical professionals and the lay public about bariatric surgery as an option for the treatment of morbid obesity, as well as the associated risks and benefits. It encourages its members to investigate and discover new advances in obesity, while maintaining a steady exchange of experiences and ideas that may lead to improved outcomes for morbidly obese patients. It’s really tough. On the one hand, it’s his choice. Getting healthy is clearly something that you have to want for yourself and do for yourself. On the othr hand
The first thing is to try to communicate your thoughts openly with him. Do you feel comfortable explaining your thoughts; that you want him to be healthy, especially because you feel how good it feels to be healthy; that you support him; that you don’t ever want to nag him; that you want him to be healthy because you think it will make him happier?
Once you communicate with him, there’s not much more you can do besides lead by example. Your own ability to do more things, be happier in life, focus on things other than food, go out with friends, etc., could motivate him to want to follow in your footsteps (surgery or not).
You can also try to include him without making him feel threatened. Invite him to work out with you; ask if he’ll help you prepare your healthy food.< /p>
Good luck – it’s tough to watch someone not choose to be healthy once you’ve decided to!

I personally said to my spouse hey I got this surgery to be a better wife and mom to our family. I need you to do the same, I told him the benefits or eating right and instead of making him feel bad I told him how great he looked just after 5lbs, He has lost 20 so far. I just don't enable bad eating habits but cooking most of the time and trying not to bring it in the house so no one gets tempted by it. I hope you figure it out and have a healthy journey together.

The best thing a woman can do is eat 5-6 small meals a day. This means 2-4oz Protein, and whatever space you have left should be a carb (fruit, veggies, or complex carb). This lessens a risk of a drop in blood sugar, which causes cravings for the bad stuff.
    An ideal world:
Brkfst: egg white omelette with spinach and tomatoes
Snack: Greek yogurt with fruit on the bottom
    Lunch: chicken and broccoli
    Snack: handful of nuts
    Dinner: salmon and asparagus
    Dessert: flavored protein bar/shake (opt)
Basically if what you're doing is working and your blood nutrition looks good, keep it up. NUTs don't know everything. Not even close.

lol in order to "stretch" your pouch, you'd have to be consistently over eating. Once or twice is not going to do that to you. Just like the stomach you had previous before. You did not add the weight on in over a week or two it took years. Its all about Portion Control and self control. It's a hard road to take but I tell people if you had a real addiction to food no shame in getting some help. I go to OA meetings every week. I work out every day but Saturday I log everything even if its bad and I tell myself its ok to mess up but get it together and make it right tomorrow. I'm not ashamed of who I was, I'm proud to know I had the brains and logic to stop the cycle now and get better! Enjoy this experience and don't let it get your down!

Do you ever consider maybe just tweeting your diet and trying to really get back into basics to jump start some real weight loss. I too lose weight sooooo slow but I found out that with me basically carbs are just the devil with my body and I have to really work out. Which I can't say I'm that bummed about. I loathe working out but I'm kinda happy I'm not just going to be thinner but healthier. I did a lil experiment with myself. I ate how I had been and checked the scale once or twice a week for a month and realized that I did not have any weight loss. Then I decided let me cut back on some carbs and really focus on my weight loss again. In two weeks I dropped 7lbs. So I now know my issue. I hope you find your groove. Good luck!
