To do surgery or not to do?
@beccaconaty87 make your decision, FOR you. You have to change because like you have read here WLS is ONLY a tool. Please think about your family's diet as well as your own while you prep for surgery. I am referring to your statement about your 8 y/o. I know I won't get any "likes" for this but the whole family needs to get on board with you and it will be beneficial to all of you. An eight y/o weighing 110 is going to be picked on - I had 2 of 5 kids who were like that and I now its not easy but help your children learn to eat right now and they hopefully won't be a WLS patient

Recovery time
I was uncomfortable the day of and on the following day - by the 3rd day the only issue really was waiting for the green light for pureed food. Stomach muscles were tight when I tried to lie back onto the bed. getting up wasn't as bad it was the s-l-o-w lying back that hurt the most. I actually moved to sitting on the side of the bed and laying down on my side, then rolling to my back, much easier!

Trying one more time
I started WLS journey last November and backed out in December. By mid Jan or so I was 282 lbs. I freaked out. I knew 300 was going to be me in a few more more months. I changed to sleeve which was my original plan in November and had surgery in early May, no regrets at all, except wished I had done it without the two month break.

@@proudgrammy Thank you. I was finishing off my fourth 25 oz bottle when I sent this from work. I am heading to bed having drank over 125 oz of water today.

where is your water? how much have you drank today?
I know a lot of us (like me) struggle with the hydrating thing and I thought I would post and ask. I am a big believer that Water with the sleeve is a dynamic duo tool for WLS. I am not a computer savvy person so I think just posting this thread will make people look for their water....

What happened in your relationship after surgery?
@@lisa0617 - do the surgery for you. but talk to your hubby, having him onboard will make a world of difference. if the marriage is not going to make it then you don't need that kind of drama along with WLS too.

Worst Restaurant Food You Ordered?
I eat out a lot because hubby likes to go out to eat. Since I began this journey I have lost about 59lbs. Hubby has been losing weight since I seriously began my journey in January 2015, when I weighed 282. I asked him shortly post-op how he felt about ordering a la carte or sharing. He is super cool about it and just Saturday night at Fridays he said you aren't suppose to drink while eating and I find that if I drink before I eat - I get full quicker. He gets a take home box as well. I finally weigh less than him after about 8 years. I couldn't imagine doing this without his support. We eat out 4-5 times a week.

Puréed Food Stage
small amounts post-op of mushy foods, like eggs, cottage cheese, strained cream of ____ soup, refried beans, yogurt with no fruit chunks (look out for seeds). I craved scrambled eggs with cheese - on Day 3 post-op they were delicious!

Feeling left out
@@need change - start cooking it, reading about it and talking about your new foods and recipes and share with your family. You may find out that they like some of the new stuff or may want to change out some of the less healthy foods for some of your ideas, recipes, etc. Don't sit off in a room and feel left out or sad. Make something you can eat and share. This is your path, own it.
