Shot down by my "best" friend
@@natnat919 - one of my best friends of 31 years did something about as bad. When I told her on the phone I was already post-op her first question was "what about your boobs?" Really??? We have both been big girls for years. My boobs have always been bigger than the norm. She knows that I have considered the possibility of a reduction. I told her that until I got my weight closer to what I felt was normal to me it would be a waste of money. Also if I reduced to a DD, by the time I lost 119 lbs to get to 163 (the most I can weigh to be in a normal BMI), the DDs would be dragging on the ground behind me.... We haven't spoken since -

Low pain tolerance + gastric sleeve?
@@glitter eyes @ - this was my first surgery. I have had wisdom teeth and stitches a couple of times but nothing like the VSG. I had three small holes and one in my bellybutton. I didn't really have cramps, just difficulty laying straight back in the bed. I figured out I could sit down, feet on the floor - and then, lay over to my side then roll to my back. I slept with a pillow in front of my stomach just incase the husband accidentally bumped me. I wasn't in my home during recovery so our bed wasn't something we were used to -

Poverty and Obesity: a first hand experience
@@WL WARRIOR - I worked for about 10 years at a local grocery store and we donated all kinds of stuff to quite a few local food pantries. One had usually a specific list of things they needed (ex: Peanut Butter, oatmeal, rice). We always obliged and employees also donated out of pocket. The other one I remember DID have a lot of the local farmers donate stuff and that was sometimes okay, sometimes not. We donated bananas and fruit from our produce dept but the stuff from local farmers was not something I would eat in general (ex: Collards, turnips, rutabagas...) A lot of times vendors would donate if they were there and the pantry folks were there looking for donations, they didn't want to transport it back to their warehouse. that's where the baked goods and candy primarily came from.

Heading Back Into the World
Its funny how different our "directions" are for each of us here. We get on the forum we wonder why one can eat this and the other cant. My doctor & NUT both said to eat ONLY when I get hungry. Sip some Water first and make sure its hunger (about 20min) and then if I still feel hungry, eat. go figure ;P

I'm really getting fustered
@@kaysunshine - hang in there it will be so worth it, trust me. Most of us have had struggles getting to THE day. Mine was first doctor appointment (11/11/2014) with surgeon and they had scheduled EKG and chest x-ray, it was a total FUBAR situation. I made it thru that. Then the psych & insurance coordinator basically telling me in December that I was choosing the wrong procedure because "no one does lap-band anymore", "too many post issues" and you won't lose enough... I stopped the whole process in December 2014. By mid-January I was getting back into the line-up for pre-requisite nutrition classes (of course I also hit my highest weight by then 282) - I haven't looked back. By the way - I got the sleeve, which was my original choice. I opted for the band to begin with to please my adult daughter and for the out-patient and short recovery time aspect. I am thankful I went with my "gut" and chose the sleeve - NO REGRETS!
