    I weigh too much? *cry*

Polly, I can't answer your question but wanted to let you know that if you do have to lose weight before the surgery, you can do it! Put your mind and heart to it and you can do it! Don't ever say you can't! If you want it bad enough you can and will do it! It may take you awhile to do it but don't get discouraged. Struggle through what your mind tells you! We can be our own worse enemies. Surpass that inner voice and come out on the other side a believer that you WILL do this and be successful with your journey.

3 weeks out; size of pouch?

I'm also 3 weeks post op. I'm still having to drink protein shakes as well. According to my plan I'm supposed to drink 2 8oz shakes in a day along with 3 protein meals and another snack. I will continue the protein shake until I go back in where I will be switched over to a soft diet. So that puts me at a little over a month of drinking the protein shake. It seems to me that it all depends on where you have your surgery done. I've heard people on here say that they had to drink protein shakes weeks before surgery, where I only had to be on a clear liquid diet the day before my surgery. So while this is a great place for information and insight what it comes down to is you have to follow the plan that your surgeon put you on.

    Anyone on loads of meds

Momma D, Oh yeah I have that problem. I have 7 pills in the morning to take, 2 in the afternoon and 13 at night. I always at least choke on 1. It takes me a good 15 minutes to take my night meds and go to bed uncomfortable because of all the pills and water in my stomach. So I feel your pain whole heartedly.

    No energy

I'm three weeks out and still have low energy. I usually take a 2 hour nap. I'm getting in the suggested 30 minute walk 5 days a week. As hard as that is. I'm always whipped after it but at least get it doe. As others have said you had major surgery. It takes a toll on your body. Need to give it time to heal. I'm wondering myself how I'm going to make it going back to work on Monday. I'm a certified nurses assistant so I don't have an easy laid back job. It's very physically active with not much down time, especially during the day.

    RNY P.C.O.S, & Pregnacy

This thread has given me hope. I may be getting old to be thinking about having a baby but regardless I am. My fiancé and I are getting married in August and have discussed having a child. We met each other late in life so I guess we will just be older parents. Like many of you I also have PCOS and am glad to hear it can usually be solved with GBP. Gives me hope that 2 years down the road I shouldn't have a problem getting pregnant. :-)

    1/2 Cup limit?

Brown eyed gal, I'm 23 days out and I still have problems getting in a 1/4 cup at a meal. According to my plan I'm supposed to be getting in 3 meals of pureed Protein, 2 Protein shakes and another protein snack. I only get in 2 pureed Proteins and maybe a shake and a half in a day. From what a lot of others on here have told me you just do the best that you can getting it in. Don't push yourself to get it in. Start with your Vitamins and Water and work the rest in. So that's what I've been doing. I've been overweight most of my life and I'm not going to ruin this tool that I've been lucky enough to get by trying to get in all that they want me to. Don't want to stretch out the new stomach that you have.

    Not eating enough

Tomorrow I will be 3 weeks post op and I struggle. What I've learned from everyone on here is that all you can do is the best you can. According to my pureed diet plan I'm supposed to try and get in 3 meals, a snack, 2 protein shakes and 6-8 cups of fluid besides the shakes. I'm no where near that. All I can manage is 2 meals of 1/4 cup protein 2 shakes and 1-2 cups of fluid. Do the best that you can. Just stay hydrated. I had beginning signs of dehydration and that day I felt like total crap. Drink those fluids!
  8. I had that today! I am trying to buy new scrubs before I go back to work. At the beginning of my year long journey before surgery I was in a 5x shirt and pants. Today I was able to go into Walmart and buy a size 3x in shirt and pants! Was very excited!

What is everyone elses pre-op diet?

Oh boy. Feeling for those of you who have to do days on end of shakes before surgery! Mine was just clear liquid day before surgery and NPO after midnight. But I talked with 2 others who had the same surgery one even had the same doctor as I did. They both had theirs done last year and they had to do 3 days of clear liquid. I couldn't imagine 14 days drinking the shake then also after. I'm 17 days post op and I'm so tired of these darn shakes!! Trying to patiently wait for the day before Thanksgiving to get here, I go back in to see my nutritionist and she'll switch me over to soft diet! Just in time to enjoy some un-pureed turkey!

    I'm new

Welcome BigEli. I myself am new to this site. I had my surgery on 10/21/14. I decided to look for online support when I had a bad day this past Wednesday. So far everyone has been welcoming and helpful. Good luck on your journey to wellness! Have you decided what form of surgery your having yet?
  11. Hi Jorrin! I'm 17 days post op now and totally understand what you're going through. I'm a side sleeper to begin with so it was hard for me to not sleep on my sides. In the hospital I found I could only lay on my right side to much pain laying on the left. When I got home I found if I put a pillow in front of me and hugged it I was able to stand laying on either side. Besides that I also did it to protect stomach from my fiancé accidentally bumping it in his sleep. As others said about getting Fluid in. I'm still having that problem. Just Wednesday I was beginning to get dehydrated and forced fluid down all day and was much better the next day. Energy will come. I find I can now get up and walk 30 minutes. I'm tired after but I'm getting in my 30 minutes of walking 5x's a week. I will usually go take a 2 hour nap during the day and find that really helps. I had staples and found that once they came out I was much more comfortable. We will all have our up and down days. At this point try to worry less about not losing the weight. We all know that if we're not careful we can gain the weight back but with what little bit we are eating while our stomach is healing you will lose weight. Can get frustrating I've not lost a single pound this week but I also know that I'm constipated and that with what little food and fluid I'm putting in that I've lost weight it's just not showing yet. Don't give up! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

    Movement Trackers

Ok I'm going to admit it I had to look up what you guys were talking about. I think that's a very cool idea. My question is how accurate is the fitbit flex? I know with pedometers they are very easy to mess up with keeping track of steps.

    OCTOBER 2014

Hello everyone. I had my surgery on 10/21/14. Looking for support online. Easier for me to get it this way than at the support group the center has where I had my surgery. On here I can get on anytime where the meetings are once a month and a ways for me to have to travel to attend.
  14. I had my surgery on 10/21/14. It took me many years to come to terms with the fact that I needed a little something more in the way of help to get the weight off. Now that I am on the other side of surgery I'm realizing this is harder than I could of ever imagined. I was 8 days out and was already tired of the protein shake! Now I'm on the pureed diet but am still required to drink 2 protein shakes a day. According to the plan I should be eating 3 protein meals, 2 protein shakes and a protein snack. Meals are 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup and if room is left I can add vegetables or fruit which I have absolutely no room for. On top of all this I'm supposed to be drinking 6-8 cups of water as well. I can only get in 2 protein meals, 2 shakes and maybe 2-2 1/2 cups of water. Now I find that I'm beginning to get dehydrated so today I've been forcing myself to drink more than I have been and I'm just very uncomfortable because my stomach is so full. Did anybody else have this issue? I'm on this meal plan until the day before Thanksgiving when I go back to see the nutritionist at the bariatric center. It's a whole new world mentally for me. I knew it would be hard and I keep on telling myself at the end of the meal plans that I will be back to eating the way I was when I began this journey. I had lost 50 lbs. before surgery just following the meal plan they gave me and I know I can handle that part it's just this time before I get back to that where I'm having trouble.
  15. You can cross your legs or sit on the floor criss cross apple sauce. Or it's easier to get up off the floor.
