  1. I think it's better to focus on Protein but aim for lean choices. Tuna, chicken, Roast beef, eggs, low fat cottage cheese.
  2. I read something in my big lapband book the Doc gave me that a lot of people who have the band have trouble with steak.
  3. I couldn't be hungrier reading throught these, lol but I thought of another grape jelly on sausage and biscuits maple syrup is also good.
  4. I don't know the reason, but I am thinking of the food steak being rather tough pie being mushy and going on through. Makes me wonder if something is wrong or your not chewing thouroughly?
  5. my Dr. suggested mine, if you notice the BMI for my goal weight is slightly overweight but my Dr. said I had to fatcor in extra skin.
  6. As far as what to say because of your business, I would just tell people "yes I've lost weight, I decided to be healthier." If they say "How you doing it, give them the diet your on." lots of people who don't have WLS try high Protein and low carb and have success.
  7. I also am 38 and been overweight for a while. I didn't start telling most people until after I had the surgery, only My Mom and closest friends knew, I had incidents where one or 2 people I told tried to talk me out of it, and decided I would keep it to myself until it was over. I also am not crazy about the attention I get when Im losing weight some people are genuine but then there are those that never talked to me before who will start gushing over the fact I've lot weight and it makes me feel that is the only reason they like me.
  8. Have you ever shopped at Aldi's or do you have one real close, they are cheaper than Save a lot eating a lot of Ramen wouldn't be good. What about eggs? They have more Protein and really aren't that much more expenive than ramen. Also find a food bank I have found high end Protein Bars at food banks for .25 cents a piece. Hope your luck changes I am on the low income side of things as well. Hoping to lose enough to be able to return to work.
  9. Nothing is wrong with you, I wouldn't like someone invading my personal space like that either, perhaps meeting guys in a different scene than a bar would be better. Like a church group, or something like that. I'm so sorry you had this experience.
  10. I am feeling a bit better after getting out, and @stephtosteph yes I will practice I'm a food inhaler as well.
  11. it would be easier to name things that I did not eat. I love cheeze whiz and bacon bits on ritz crackers.
  12. Today is day 8 Post OP, yesterday was the 1st day I was able to eat on my list of acceptable things is cottage cheese, my book says I would only be able to handle 1 or 2 bites, I ate nearly half a tub, and did not get sick, not that I wanted to get sick, but the fact that I was able to eat that much worries me a bit and I feel bad for not stopping myself I knew I had, had more than I should have, but I have been on liquids Since Oct 18 and it was so stinkin good. Now I am worried that even when my band gets filled I'm not going to feel the fullness. I am also a feeling a bit depressed, I don't know if it's the weather, I haven't been able to return to my previous exercise routine, my family isn't helping with the house they are simply waiting for me to feel better...... blah blah blah and a big sigh.
  13. Thanks for the replies, as the soreness leaves, I've been able to sleep on my left side but not my right yet.
  14. Because I am heavy I usually sleep on my side, sometimes I feel like I can't breathe on my back, but I'm newly banded and it seems that either side is a bad choice because I'm sore. I only notice things feel different then so for the last few days I've been sleeping in a recliner. Anyone else having this problem?

  16. If I knew how to post a photo on here I would. Mine are 4 small incisions and one larger one about and inch long they are stiches covered in a clear tape, just a really bad bruise around it.
  17. you know any time someone says your not allowed something I think it's human nature to automatically want it. I know even with what your on you'd still feel the same way. Just keep yourself focused on our goal.
  18. Not with the lap band, but I did have that occur after a gallbladder surgery, I had the typical diarrhea.
  19. 4 weeks of all liquid high Protein slim fast. Enjoy your 4 oz of meat, I'm jealous.
  20. Have you called the Doc yet?
  21. Try asking your family to eat just 1 meal at the table someone is sure to resist you at first mine did, but it's so much nicer and great family time. Even if something simple just one meal.
  22. Your surgeon sounds very much like the one I have, he only does his surgeries on certain days, had a dietician and staff for education, and even sent me home with his personal cell number. Here's to the good ones.
