  1. you were banded a month before me, I gained 2lbs between surgery and my 1st fill I have since had another fill, how often are you seeing your Dr.? don't worry too much about a weight gain though like the person above said it's a marathon not a race, and there are days when I can retain as much as 5 or 6lbs of Water. Don't give up.
  2. He gave me one before my surgery which is 125, I do better though by setting small goals for myself, I'm 8lbs from losing my 1st 100lbs and that's my goal right now 8lbs, my next goal will be to get to 199, and so forth and so on.
  3. I see your point, I think everyone comes to wls for different reasons, my particular problem is not in losing weight, I can lose weight but at some point in the process usually during a platuea I get bored, then I get upset watching people of a normal weight being able to eat whatever they want, and that's when I lose my resolve. I am actually hoping to get to a point in my restriction where the hard work I have already done is maintained by my band, I do want it to be there to remind me not to go back to my old self. I want my band to say "Hey stupid, not another bite, mind me now" lol but to get to this point I'm exercising self control til the band starts working for me, right now I am doing most of the work and the bi-weekly visits to my Dr. is what is keeping me accountable, cause he does expect me to try. Congratulations with your continued success I do look at you veterans and hope I get to where you are real soon.
  4. So I was watching my 600lb life last night, I often watch it happy that I hadn't gained that much weight, but I also root for those people too. I couldn't sleep so I wound up watching another show called My weight is killing me, There was a fellow on there he was tall and weighed around 525lb, The Dr. was talking about his BMI which was 61, and how they don't like to operate on people with extremely high BMI that he needs to lose weight before surgery to make it less risky. BOOM MIND BLOWN.... MY BMI at 321 was 67.9 and here I am thinking I hadn't let myself get that far, but because I am so short statured I had let myself get that far, My insurance wanted me to lose only 5% but I did get my BMI down to 52 before surgery, the Dr. didn't even say that's what he wanted. I knew I had a high BMI but I didn't realize really how serious it was, until this show. I really was in denial, comforting myself with the fact that I didn't weigh 600lbs wasn't I, I wouldn't have lived to reach 600lbs.
  5. oops old post I suppose insurance has changed over the past year.
  6. @@Alex Brecher I live in KY and have Coventry Cares of KY mine was covered and approved within 2 weeks of finishing a 6 month of Dr. Supervised weight loss. It will cover it if you have 2 co morbidities and a BMI of 35, it will cover a BMI over 40 almost automatically.
  7. So glad things are finally working for you. It doesn't make sense to me a surgeon wouldn't want to take a stray patient, I mean money is money, but I'm glad you found a nice one willing to help you.
  8. Whoop! Whoop! that's awesome!! so glad to hear it.
  9. It took 2months for me to lose weight and it still isn't the band its exercise doing right now I'll be glad when they are both in sync
  10. I was approved 2 wks after my 6 month program was over
  11. Depression sucks!! I suffer from clinical depression I have to take my meds, and stay on top of taking care of myself, are you on meds for it, have you thought about a change of meds if you are, or have you considered talking with your Dr. about taking them, that's totally up to you, sometimes counseling can help but with clinical depression you sometimes need more help. Whatever you decide to do, please post when your feeling low. We're here to help.
  12. @@lisacaron You know slow and steady wins the race. Quick and sassy fall on their face. This is going on my face book wall LOL
  13. @@blondiebabs someone in the group reminded her of my height when I finished the 1st lap, the lady that did that actually stood and waited for me to finish she isn't unusually tall she's 5'3 but that's still 5 inches taller than me, and add to it she has over developed leg muscles from all the hill walking she does and she doesn't weigh much either not scrawny but she's not carrying extra weight, if she thought I was slow down there sunday, she should have seen me before when I started walking weighing 321 it took me an hour to walk half a mile now it takes me 45 minutes to walk 2.
  14. I chose the band, because it seemed to be the best option for me personally, I did look at the other procedures and I decided that if something does happen to the band I can go with the sleeve later but let's try not cutting my stomach 1st. I am fully supportive though of anyone's weight loss choice.
  15. wow I'm just starting out seeing that you've been able to keep the majority of your weight off gives me hope. I wish I had some advice for you, the only thing I can think of is look at your calories or bump up your exercise, but you might have done that already.
  16. I have no experience with this, so I'm not sure if I can be helpful or not, as I am in the beginning of my journey. Your self worth is not your waist line or in the scales, I'm not telling you to accept this new weight gain though, you have worked hard and I'd be feeling the same way. Your keeping your exercise routine up and that's good, baby steps with that and you'll have to work you way back up. Hang in there!! and don't give up.
  17. In an effort not to get bored with my workout I'm going to Zumba today, going to drink my water eat my protein and veggies and be happy about it.
  18. @@James Marusek yeah that's what I was saying she's used to hill walking so this course is a breeze for her, it's not real hard for me, I just can't walk at a real fast pace even on a treadmill I only go 2mph and I feel like I'm running I'm only 4'10 so I have a child's stride when I get lighter I might be able to go faster right now I walking real fast just isn't something I can do.
  19. @@anaxila LOL I couldn't catch her,

  21. Goodluck to you the shoulder pain surprised me, I have the added burden of having a dog, that now sits in my lap and constantly sniffs my incision site, I had my surgery Nov 21 and he still does it.
  22. Walked 3 miles today, have had chicken, a small turkey salad, and some carrots and cream cheese (not all at once over the course of the day), also have had 80oz of Water, and on my walk today I found 10 dollars whoop whoop,
