I DID have food funerals, and I regretted it. It didn't make me feel any better, and it just pushed me further from my goals. food isn't going anywhere. We are breaking the old thoughts of food and reshaping a new view that doesn't center on celebrating food. it's so dang hard. But we can do it. I'm 3 weeks post op today.

Define "hate"? Do you consider "hate" telling you the truth of the situation? The opposite of wanting to be coddled and patted on the head and told everything will be just fine and everyone makes mistakes?
'Stretching' your sleeve is the least of your worries. You've given yourself a higher chance of developing a leak or other life threatening issues by not following your surgeons PRESCRIPTION diet. Please call their office and let them know what happened to get yourself checked out. For your peace of mind and ours! Keep us posted!

OKCPirate reacted to Ruth1ess in You know you lost weight when
When you don't automatically scout out the handicap stall in the bathroom, but find the normal stalls to have adequate and even more than enough room for your needs!
When people ask you to join them on the couch that is already near-full, you look at the space and realize there's no possible way you will fit comfortably, but you do.. with room to spare.
When there is enough room in the airport seats for not only yourself, but your bag as well..
When you get on the plane and there are two inches of seat space on either side of you in coach. What the heck??
Normal bath towels... that's a biggie!
When you just 'fit' into the world without constantly feeling like you stick out.
When you find yourself jogging during your workout for several minutes non-stop -- and it's not easy, but you don't quit, either.
When tight pants don't cut across your belly painfully, but instead dig into your protruding hip bones painfully.
When you don't have to dig to the bottom of the pile of sizes while shopping anymore, but dig from somewhere in the middle.
Shopping literally anywhere I want to and finding clothes that fit every time!
When you don't look up at a long flight of stairs with dread anymore, but excitement.. and no huffing and puffing at the top!
When your skinny friend says she has some pants that doesn't fit her, maybe they will fit you? They're too small for her. And they FIT!
When you walk into Lane Bryant and you get shunned by the same employees that used to faun over you at the entrance every time you walked in.
    Two words: Victoria's Secret!
When you walk out of your work shoes on a daily basis.. darn feet getting smaller!
When your boyfriend uses any excuse and every opportunity to pick you up just because he can now.. and to hear me squeal!
When you pray that your clothes shrink while putting them in the dryer, instead of the other way around!
When your knees hurt from constantly having your legs crossed because it feels so glamorous and feminine that you don't want to stop!
When you don't have to take 12 selfies to find a flattering angle.., one and done!
When you realize you never had bad balance, your excess weight just threw you off.

Yes, it is a killer workout, lots of fun, practical and develops agility. Give yourself some grace as you relearn balance, it's tougher than you might think. Spend time learning to wrap your hands and wrists. It will prevent an injury (not that I'm bitter)

Kickboxing is one of the best things you can do for weight loss, muscle building and strength. I've done it for a long time (before weight gain) and I loved it. I can't wait to get back to it!

OKCPirate reacted to grandmaofone in 1 1/2 years out and had a reality check
I had my surgery on June 15, 2015, before surgery I weighed in at 265, I would tell myself it was all good until I had a grand child and I was raising him because my daughter was 17. I started not to be able to keep up with him and it was hard to get off the floor. That is when I decided it was time to do something. So I went to seminar and first doctors appt was in January of 2015, the six month waiting period was very fast and smooth, got a call after my classes were finished saying insurance approved my surgery and was scheduled for surgery less than two weeks later. Surgery went well, after surgery I found out I was allergic to morphine and got sick from the time I woke up from surgery until the next day. Then after that recovery went well. I lost more weight at my one year check up than my doctor thought I would loss, he said that I was in the overweight category and didn't need to see me except for blood work once a year and just to keep the weight off.
Well the last few months has been crazy with my daughter signing over rights to us for our grandchild and all of the sudden the dad, after two and half years, came to court and wanted to see grandson. I say all this because I have been stressed and it is the holidays and I have not been watching what I have been eating and started only working out twice a week. My husband had the sleeve surgery in October, so I was taking care of him, talking to attorney about grandson and running my daycare and taking care of grandson.
While my weight pretty much stayed between 160-165, this month while waiting for grandson's court date, I was not eating a lot. I have actually lost another 5 pounds and am still losing. I have hit my long term goal which is to be in the 150's. I am so excited and I now have a winter wardrobe to fit and look nice in!!! I am happier, healthier, and finally am not letting people walk all over me because I have some of my confidence back also!!!
2016 was not such a good year for our family but we are going to rock 2017. Hopefully this next year my hubby will reach his goal, we will be the best grandparents we can be to our little man and God will bless us with many adventures and memories with family!!!!
I am also going horse back riding now that hubby is under the weight limit to go!!!! Here is a before and this month picture-I am still on my journey!!!

Last minute concerns? Uhh, yeah. If you didn't have them about permanently modifying your body, then you have not been paying attention. But I knew why I was doing it. After it was done and I was up and walking around the floor of the hospital I have not looked back with regret once. I am fairly certain this would not be the case if I had that tattoo.

You do it when you can do it. I had mine on the one day I could for 18 months. My schedule was just that fixed. Stick to your surgeons plan. The idea isn't so much the weight loss but to shrink your liver. I did it so well my surgeon was done in half of his normal time which made recovery easier.

10 days from now when you finally poop and you go through your final round of second-guessing yourself, you will start getting excited. BTW, DON'T weigh yourself for a few weeks. You have gained a bunch of IV Water weight. And your body is not going to start letting go of it's fat cells for a little while longer.

@@Christopher James - I don't know where you have been, but as for me, I've been to heights I've never imagined me doing (well maybe when I was 19 in the Army). The nice thing about hiking is you can nibble on nuts and things which would normally be a problem, but do really well when you are moving under a load constantly. Be very aware of your Water intake and enjoy the air, the views and new found mobility.

Hiking part of the Virginia section of the Appalachian trail with my dog is on my bucket list! So far I can only do day hikes. As soon as the snow is gone and I am down 24 more pounds I will start training for longer and with a weighted pack! I don't really have any tips to pass on because I am learning, just wanted to wish you many great adventures!
