  1. Glad to hear so many are doing well. I am in "stallsville" and it quite literally stinks! But it will pass and all will be fine. My hair loss has slowed down, thank God. I thought it would all fall out. Other than that, It is going great and I am happy and getting healthier! November 16, 2014
  2. Can't help there, I was self pay. I can tell you that no matter how long it takes, stay strong and be optimistic. It will happen and you won't regret it! Best of luck to you on your journey and welcome!!
  3. It is pretty common from what I have seen posted on here. I couldn't stand the taste of water for almost 2 months after my surgery and I loved drinking it before. I added little flavor enhancers to it and it helped. I also drank no sugar added juice and added water to it. Teas are also great. It does usually go away. So keep trying water by itself and one day, it tastes okay again!
  4. You can definitely tell the difference! Congrats to you! Keep up the great work
  5. Much better to find this out now and get cleared. Hopefully everything will work out fine. Best of luck to you, stay strong.
  6. Lol, mine is soooooo loud and it embarrasses me at the worst times. We nicknamed my little beast the "angry chihuahua" because it sounds like it's always growling (and it's small now!)
  7. Congrats!!! Big difference in your pictures, you look great! Keep up the good work!
  8. I have a separate gastric doc and he said I will probably be on them at least a year, possibly longer. He said our smaller tummy stills produces quite a bit of acid. I did have heartburn/GERD issues prior to surgery though.
  9. We used Skype the whole time I was there. I just connected to wifi on my phone or computer and talked to my family with Skype. And I did leave my phone on airplane mode the whole time I was in Mexico. I have Verizon and as soon as we crossed the border, I got a text saying I was roaming internationally. I turned it to airplane mode then.
  10. Welcome!!! It is a tough journey (which I'm sure your WLS friend told you) but to me, it has been worth it. Even the rougher times seem like nothing now. Just stick to your plan and keep your head up. And I definitely know what you mean about putting your weight down in writing. I would NEVER have told anyone I knew, much less didn't know, how much I weighed. It seems like this site is a "safe" zone. You can say it and know that everyone else on here won't judge you. That's what I love about BP. Best of luck to you!!
  11. Congrats! It will be here before you know it and you will go through so many emotions between now and then. Best of luck to you on your journey!
  12. @@JamieLogical You always give such great advice! It's people like you that make this sight so helpful....just saying! I will be checking with you once I get to goal and allow some time for everything to shift as it will.
  13. You are not doing anything wrong, it's completely normal! They pumped your abdomen full of gas for the surgery and you most likely had an IV. It will take a little time for that to go away. And depending on your weight lost prior to surgery, your body could be holding onto all calories. Be patient, the scale will move! Best of luck to you!
  14. Isn't it amazing....their fascination with boobs!
  15. @@Bobby46 I am in the same boat. My waist and butt are small but my thighs and calves are still big. All of my pants are tight in the legs and gaping in the waist. I feel like I am mooning the world all of the time!
  16. That was one of my first NSVs too! He is tall and athletic so I couldn't wait to weigh less than him...and now I do! Congrats on your first NSV!
  17. Instead of watching an unrealistic "reality" game show, maybe they should spend that hour on Bariatricpal. They could then see the countless number of lives that have been changed for the better by the so called irresponsible way to lose weight. And let's not forget the lives that have been saved from debilitating health conditions and possibly even death. If everyone on this site could dedicate 8 hours to exercise and even more time to preparing their meals every day, then I guess we could be considered responsible. PLEASE, who has that kind of time in their life??? And the people on the show will have to return to their jobs and lives after it is over. Is it realistic to believe they can continue with their schedule? I agree with @@Alex Brecher, we need to grow another layer of skin and speak out about WLS. We have been there and most of the posts I have read only regret "not doing it sooner" We are the voices that can tell another side of WLS. I personally, consider WLS the most RESPONSIBLE choice that I have made for the betterment of my life! And I refuse to let some TV show make me feel less for that choice!
  18. @@Vanessa G If she isn't interested, I am! I live in Brandon area, not sure how far from you.
  19. It was not bad at all. Actually, it was a wonderful experience. They do so much Medical Tourism down there that they have got it to a science. You would be amazed at the number of people showing up for WLS, plastic surgery, etc. My only other options were to have lapband (didn't want it), complete gastric bypass (was scared of being malnourished in a few years), or do nothing.
  20. You are more than welcome! You can add me as a friend or message me anytime if you have any other questions. That's why we are all here, to ask and learn
  21. @@defibvt I was sleeved with Dr. Ortiz in November and he is great! Dr. Morales assists him and he is wonderful too. ALM is a good company that cares about their patients. If you have any questions when you get home, email and they will answer you quickly. I had a very positive experience from beginning to end. Best of luck to all of you! You will be on the other side before you know it If you have any questions, please message me and I'll try to help!
