I was very open about my surgery with friends and co workers. A lot of people who did not know we're afraid to ask. People Are now getting used to seeing me. I am always glad to talk with those who have questions I am proud of my continued success
People will notice the more you see them and lose the pounds. Keep up the great work!

I was freaked out when I saw the YouTube videos on loose skin. But I powered through it and am glad I had the surgery. I lost 51 pounds before surgery and am down another 40 lbs since surgery. Sure I have saggy skin. My husband doesn't care. He Is just happy I am healthy. You can do it too!

I've been thinking about WLS since I was 16, and for me, one of the big things always holding me back was the loose skin. I kept saying "I'd rather be fat than have a big thing of loose skin" and I couldn't even imagine it. Then, at the end of last year, I knew I was ready for WLS because I got to the point where I was thinking, "I honestly don't care, I just want to be healthier, I can't be like this anymore. Anything's better than being like this." Once I got to the point where something as benign as loose skin (yes, it's hurtful for self esteem and confidence, but it won't kill you) didn't matter to me anymore, I knew I needed to pursue it.

My insurance covered the breast reduction because of my backaches. And it's a good thing they did, because since the breast reduction, my back has been just fine, and I had really suffered before.

I don't know how old you are, but age makes a big difference in outcomes after weight loss. I was 60 when I lost most of my weight and my loose skin is prodigious. My breasts really did resemble tube socks with rocks. Younger women probably fare much better.

I worked out the entire time that I was losing weight. In terms of toning, I'm on a boxing and jiu jitsu team, which tends to do a lot of toning work on your arms. All I ended up with were really ripped arms covered by a whole lot of loose skin. I had a brachioplasty done and now my arms look fabulous. I've always had the big batwing arms (someone called me a "flying squirrel" in college ) so this is partly genetic. I have seen several women on here who ended up with fantastic arms and didn't need surgery.
My calves were really toned, but I ended up having a thigh lift and full body lift (abdominoplasty and posterior body lift with auto augment) as well as a breast lift and augment. Ultimately, no matter how much I had worked out I looked like a big bag of loose skin. My thighs are still not anything I'm crazy about and you can pull skin on parts of my back, but after plastics and before plastics I look like a totally different person.
I'm sure this was not the optimistic news you wanted, so I'm sorry. Again though, genetics play a big part. I was fat when I was a kid, and I yo-yo'd between the 130's and 200's as an adult. It was only when I topped out at 237 that I had the sleeve procedure, so I'm sure all the years of being skinny, then fat, then skinny, then fat, did nothing good for my skin.

I am 10 days pre-op and I am getting nervous-you would not be human if you were not. Think of all of the work you have done in preparation pre-op and for the post op life-that is what is keeping me calm. I have worked too hard to give up now! Hang in there! Keep up the great work!

Going in tomorrow at 6:00am, surgery at 7:30am. I'm excited and nervous. My prayers are with all those who will be having their surgery tomorrow and the next coming days/months. May God guide our surgeons hands for a successful operation and may we heal and recover quickly, with as little pain as possible.

April 29th is my big day! I get sleeved on that day also. How is everyone doing with the liquid diet? I began mine 3 days ago while on a cruise. It's been tough few days but I feel it'll get easier once I get home into a routine.

Thursday!! Today is Sunday. OMG! It has been a long, hard road with many hoops to jump through, and now, "suddenly", it's here! I am nearly there. I am nearly sleeved. I'm nearly having a difficult time with pain from a drain, and not able to drink a bottle of Water at one sitting. I'm nearly barely able to eat a tablespoon of greek yogurt at a sitting. My life is nearly changed for the better. One day soon I will be searching my closets for smaller clothes which I saved back from when I was smaller. I'm so excited to begin this journey to health and happiness, I am nearly able to polish my own toenails, to lace up my shoes. Nearly able to run up a flight of stairs and not be winded and keep up with my grand kids. It's Sunday...I'm nearly there!

    hey tex
don't over think/worry about the psych test
"they" just want to make sure you are "mentally" prepared for WLS
that you are aware WLS is not an easy fix in solving all your problems
don't say your life will be perfect after having surgery
everything in the world will all of a sudden be peaches and cream
you are aware you will always have to work hard post op
    need to eat healthy forever!!
    basic stuff like that
don't say things like little kids, bugs, flowers, or listening to me drive you crazy
don't tell them you've been eating pickles all day for the last week or two
they might think you are preggo!
don't worry your pretty little head
    good luck
