Stress test :(
I was told that if anything was really wrong with my stress test they would not have allowed me to leave following it. I would go with the no news is good news theory.

Surgeon forgot to attached esophagus to stomach
Oh my! I certainly hope you are on the road to recovery. I would make sure you share that doctors name. I understand mistakes happen but it certainly should NOT happen in the medical field.

Waking up from surgery
I have never heard of the feeding tube either. I had only a drainage tube and it was removed prior to leaving the hospital. I was on oral pain meds within 24 hours post surgery and honestly they are more trouble than what they are worth. I took nothing for pain after leaving the hospital. Most of the pain is from the gas they use to inflate your tummy during surgery. Pain meds don't help that gas. The only thing that works is: walking, heating pads, Gas X and drinking liquids. Good luck and don't fret. It will all be ok.

When was the last time
I was very thin until I had my children which I was done by the time I was 19. I was a very young Mom which was hard but I am happy about it now as I have two very amazing grown sons and two absolutely beautiful granddaughters that I am in love with. Lucky me! Anyway, I was 5' 10" and only weighed 135 prior to that. Then post kids I weighed 170 until I was about 22. I quit smoking at 22 and gained 70lbs and started the diet yo yo that went on until I was 51 and 310. I had a lot of health issues all related to my weight. Now, I am on my way back down to a weight I will feel comfortable with. I hope to end between 165 and 175. My doctor has said based on my current progress I should be able to meet that goal. That is about the right weight for someone my height and age. My current weight is 220, I have lost an amazing 90lbs in just 6 months. I have worked very hard at it and continue to do so. I feel so lucky and blessed that we have medicine like this to help us acheive our goals. My husband has been struggling with his weight his whole life and is in the diet yo yo process as well. He is just about to hit his heaviest at 300. He is frightened of having this surgery after two heart related surgeries in the last 12 months but he is not losing either. I hipe he comes to term with it soon before it is too late.

Feeling doomed, the $ in RNY pills/protein budget unknown. HELP!
Hi there, you mentioned you were on a lot of prescriptions already. Depending on what those are for you may be off of a lot of them either right after or shortly after surgery. The list of my prescriptions was very very long pre surgery. Now I take two prescriptions, that is all! I was able to get off of all reflux/heart burn medication, cholesterol medication, high blood pressure medication, diabetes medication and even one of my two migraine prevention medications. I am actually ahead now in terms of costs as it relates to prescriptions. I buy my Vitamins from costco for the most part and on some I wait for the buy one get one deals at Walgreens. I do the same with my Protein drinks which are ready made. They are called Premier Protein and you can get them at Costco 2 cases for the price of 1. You just have to watch for them to go on sale and then stock up. Also my food bill went down drastically so it all evens out in the end. Take a deep breath and try to to let anxiety get the best of you. Good luck and keep us posted on your journey!

3 Weeks Out - No Appetite / Not Eating
If you are not eating aNd not getting your fluids in, it explains why you feel like crap. No matter how hard it is, you must work at getting your fluids in first followed by protein at this stage. I promise you will feel better.

Baldness is in my future .... :/
Great topic! I have been losing my hair since the first month when my weight loss was very rapid. I am now six months post op and yes my hair is still falling out at an alarming rate. Thank goodness I was blessed with a very thick head of hair. I have probably lost 2/3 of my volume. Yesterday I had my six month check in yesterday and asked the doctor about this. He shared with me that there is nothing you can do to stop the hair loss and it will continue until you stop losing weight and your body normalizes. The Biotin will aid in regrowth only so it is a good idea to take that supplement. I have lots of little short hairs growing in. The good news, your hair should only be thinning and there should be no bald Patches. If you have that going on, you should go to the doctor. I am going to look at it this way, if my hair were to completely come out, and I had to wear a wig (which I have been assured that this should not happen), I would still be happier losing my excess weight. I can always wear a wig for a short period, I could never hide how heavy and miserable I was. I certainly could not hide all of my horrible health issues. I have never felt better and it has all been worth it!

Exhaustion & hard to drink liquids
Almost everyone has trouble getting in the 64 oz. of fluids daily. You must try to at least get 48 in at first and then as the swelling goes down it will definately get easier for you. I remember being very weak until I could start drinking Protein and eating pureed foods. As soon as I could get going on that stuff I starteD feeling better. It then got better and better every day. Keep your head up and eye on the prize it absolutely gets better. Good luck!

Bowel movement
@@foodfighter78, it won't be for the rest of your life but depending on how much liquid you are getting in, it could be for a while. In the beginning I had a hard time getting close to 48 oz a day and wAs constipated for the first few months. As soon as I was able to get 64 oz. regularly I have no problems any longer. The other thing that helps is when you are finally on normal food. Fiber and good carbs and some good fats will help as well. I will tell you it still happens to me when I travel and cannot focus on 64 oz If liquid daily.

Weight gain
You gain Water weight in the hospital from all the fluids they pump into you. I promise it will drop off very rapidly. I think I gained 8 lbs while in. GiVe it a week and you will lose that and then some. It is normal and happens to all of us.

Is it normal to stop losing weight at 6 months out
It is hard to answer this question without knowing what you are eating drinking and your activity level. I am 6 months post op and still losing 2 to 3lbs per week. I sure hope that does not happen at 6 months. I still have 55 to go. I have been told by my surgeon that you will get the most benefit in the first year. After that it all depends how hard you work for it.

E A T I N G ...
I was on pureed foods until week 4 post op. Not my favorite stage. I could not tolerate the texture of pureed meats si I lived on cottage cheese, yogurt, soFt cooked and mashed carrots and protein shakes. I was so excited when I got to transition to soft foods although it really did take some getting used to. I could eat three or four bites and I would be very full

It's so WEIRD not looking fat.

Despite my best effort...Ugh!
Protein shakes instead of snacIs on top of meals could be why you are bouncing up and down. The best thing you can do to lose some weight quickly is use them to replace your Breakfast and lunch and then have a very light meal for dinner consisting Of 4/6 oz. of healthy protein , salad with light dressing and vegetables. Steer clear of Pasta, bread, rice, potatoes and sweets. If you get hungry in between meals drink 8 oz. of fat free or 1 percent milk. Or have a Light yogurt. If you stick to a plan like this you will absolutely lose weight. Also Make sure you are drinking between 48 and 64 oz. of Water. Steer clear of liquids that have sugar or caffeine, the sugar will hurt your progress and the caffeine will make yOu hungry. After surgery you would be following a similiar way of life, this will help u get ready for it.

Finally told someone & OMG, smh! :(
I am so sorry that this happened. At one point or more we have all received this kind of treatment from someone in our lives. It comes from uneducated people who do not understand that obesity is a disease and that bariatric surgery can and will give you your life back literally! You do what you need to to feel safe with your decision. Leverage local support groups, leverage the folks on this site to help you in your journey. Once your weight starts coming off and your health improves you can have a face to face discussion with your friend about it. She is just worried for you and does not understand how you are currently feeling about your health. I wish you all the best! Feel free to reach out to me anytime!

Bypass vs sleeve
And by the way, malabsorption is nothing to be afraid of. In fact it aids tremendously in weight loss. You just need to make sure you take your supplements which you would have to take with the sleeve as well. As for dumping syndrome there are many people who do not have that situation with the bypass including me. I have yet to get sick and I am six months post op and down 83 lbs. Incidentally I have seen folks with the sleeve on this site mention that they do get a version of dumping.

Bypass vs sleeve
You need to do some research on each of these before making a decision. Everything depends on your specific health issues. The reason to think about bypass vs. sleeve is whether or not you struggle with Gerd/reflux. The sleeve can make this worse, the bypass can make it go away for good. There are a ton of posts on this exact topic on this site. It is a very common question, I might suggest doing a search on this topic. Also there is a ton of information on line and I am sure your doctors with give you the pros and cons of each. I was planning on sleeve only to find out that it could make my situation worse based on my health issues. I had RNY bypass and every single one of my comorbities are gone now. I could not be happier. It is very difficult to answer your question when we don't know your health history. Good luck to you! Keep us posted on your decision.

Been a rough week
I feel for you! I had the exact same CPAP experience but I discovered one on the very first night post op while still in the hospital. I knew what it was because my CPAP caused aeroflasia ( not sure I spelled that right) for over a year an a half before we figured it out a year before surgery. That is when the pressure is too high and it causes you to cough all day every day for 1 1/2 years. The pain in my tummy after using my CPAP was so horrific that I did not use it for the first three weeks following surgery. Once I stopped using it I was fine. I was off pain meds within one day of coming home. 3 weeks later I tried my CPAP again and have been using it ever since. Sorry to hear you had this complication but glad you figured it out!

My Life, My Journey, My Transformation.... And a few tips and pics
You have done absolutely fantastic! I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine how you felt back then. If you don't mind sharing, how has the rest of your family responded to your weight loss. You are setting such a terrific example for them. I lost my Mom in 2005 to Both complications of Type 2 diabetes and believe it or not sleep apnea both complications of morbid obesity. She refused to use CPAP even after they told her she likely had weeks to live if she did not do something. She was 66 years old and my best friend. I have been angry at her for the last 5 years because she was ripped from my life, the lives of her grandchildren and her two beautiful great grandchildren which she was so excited to see come into this world. In December of 2013, I was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease and that was the last straw for me. I could literally see the end of my life following my mother. I have a very close bond with my children and grandchildren. I already had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, severe Gerd, high cholesterol, sleep apnea and now stage 3 kidney disease. I knew I could not lose this weight without surgical assistance. I went from that appointment with the nephrologist directly to an on line seminar about weight loss surgery. Immediately following I called and found the bariatric center of excellence through park Nicollet. I got myself into a live seminar and had already decided I did not want my children to be angry with me like I was with my mom. I had surgery sept. 29th, 2014 and that day, I got my life back! I am now down almost 90lbs and would like to lose another 57. All of my comorbities are gone! Including my kidney disease. My kidneys started functioing normal within 5 weeks post op! Your story is so motivating! I would love to know if it has helped others in your family. Bless you for sharing it!

Scared mindless! Please help me
I could not have said this any better! In fact I had been in the middle of a very long post stating the same things when the page reloaded on me and I lost everything. Please take some deep breaths and relax. The new life that one does get after having WLS is well worth all the anxiety. I would just tell you the anxiety is just a complete waste of your energy. It is natural for you to have some nerves but honestly you should be excited about the outcome. Every single day is a whole new day in a whole new you! Good luck and please keep us posted. Use the links that she posted to do some research. It will calm you down a bit.

Protein Powder
I personally stick to premier protein chocolate. I have not found any powders that I like or can tolerate. I do use Unjury unFlavored in some of my foods, in small amounts I can deal with it.

Any Advice
I would be shocked if someone actually said no. In the beginning there is so much change going on that it is hard to keep up with. I know I was very moody And even found myself crying over the most silly things. I do not normally cry. The good news is one you are on normal food and you get your routine down, it goes away. At least It did for me.

Stomach Bug
You definately need to go in. They can help you with hydration for sure and it will make you feel better. Good luck and take care!

need sugestiones
You will get sick very quickly if you don't start to get proper nutrition. I too cannot eat eggs. If you eat yogurt, you can buy Protein granola which will also boost the protein. It is very good. If you don't like your Protein shakes you have to find one that works for you. I use Premier Protein chocolate and it is excellent. You can get them at costco or Sam's. No matter how much you struggle you have to take your supplements. I hate to be harsh here but you should have known what you were signing up for. There are not that many to take, you just have to do it, every single day. Honestly sf Jello is pretty worthless. You should be at a point where you can eat fish, chicken, shrimp, cheese. These are the things most of us live on. I wish you the best of luck and sure hope you really focus on good nutrition.
