  1. Stuck, stuck and still stuck. 1lb! That's all I am asking for. 1lb so I can be in a normal weight range. Not sure why this is so important to me but it is. Just when I get close, I hop on the scale and wham I gain a pound. I know that it is simply a fluctuation but it doesn't make it any less frustrating. I am trying to tell myself that it really doesn't matter so why do I get so pissed when I have been stuck for so long?!?!

      jane13

I agree with @Pinkgirl1234 - 1 pound? I am a scale junkie. Have you thought about cutting your hair? manicure? pedicure? wrapping yourself in aluminum foil and going into a sauna? @Djmohr you have done an awesome job and that little... itty... bittty.... 16ounces is nothing.... YOU GOT THIS WHIPPED!

      Djmohr

Trust me, I know that I have done great and I do feel great. I also look fantastic in clothes. I also know that if I had surgery to remove all my loose skin, I would be near the bottom of the range for my height.

For some reason, I simply want that 1 stinking pound. If I never get to the 165 goal I don't care but I want that 1 pound. And I know I will get it, it is only a matter of time. I will hunt it down and I will get rid of it. LOL! I have declared war, as of 8am central standard time today, me and that pound are at war.

    3. jane13

      jane13

I totally "get it" about the one pound. My "one pound" is 6lbs (179). I have also declared a 6lb war starting yesterday I got on the scale (GRRrrrrrr!) and I have another apt on the 19th....gonna make it. going back to pre-op diet if scale doesn't move by Sat/Sun.

  3. My 1 year labs are in and I am one healthy gal! I am most excited that my stage 3 kidney disease is still in remission! The only abnormal lab I had was my b12 which is actually too high at greater than 2000. I might want to back off of that one.

  4. What a great feeling! My oldest son was here last night , he is 6'2" tall. He looks good for his height except he has that tell tale sign of a ver small beer belly. He does like to indulge once in a while. I have always been the heaviest in our family. Last night he tells me he need to drop a few pounds because he is at his heaviest. I asked him what his weight is and he told me 225. For the first time in my life I weigh less than him. I am currently 205 headed for onederland. I am 5'10". Although I felt bad for him, I have to say I was so very proud of me for losing 105 lbs

  5. Gah! Don't know if is because I am healing but the last two days I am a bottomless pit! I never ever feel this way. It might just be the need for comfort food. Ugh!

    1. Djmohr

      Djmohr

Today I have been headed back to basics and doing ok so far. Protein shake for breakfast, cottage cheese and a fresh peach for lunch. I am making some kind of taco concoction for dinner tonight. I might go with impossible taco pie because it has a lot of eggs in it and it is the only way I seem to be able to eat them. I think my body is simply starving for way more protein than what I am used to and it has to be because I am trying to heal these burning hot arms. It's all I can figure.

    2. MrsSugarbabe

      MrsSugarbabe

That's great, @Djmohr. We can't go wrong with the basics.

    3. VSGAnn2014

      VSGAnn2014

I second the protein approach, since I'd hypothesize your body that's focused so much on healing itself now needs all the protein you can give it!

  7. Ugh! I just got scheduled for a 3 level cervical spine fusion surgery for June 3rd. Having had spinal fusion before I am very nervous. That kind of surgery can be very painful. Hopefully it will solve my neck and shoulder issues.

Its a couple of weeks later and I'm just seeing this, Djmohr. How are you doing? I hope things are back on track, it must be so frustrating. I'm still loosing, but much slower now, and I get scared when I don't see the scale go down. I know you can do it. Sounds like you are facing it and moving in a positive direction now.

    3. Djmohr

      Djmohr

I am doing much better with weight management at the moment. I stopped two medications that were impacting my hunger and literally within a week I dropped from 168 to 161.4 so now I am at my lowest weight since before I had children.

I have some other stuff going on that is causing my appetite to literally be gone so I am sure that is helping but it is temporary so I am still trying to figure out maintenance. Lol, I think this is the hardest part.

    2. ShelterDog64

      ShelterDog64

How do you make your broccoli/cauliflower casserole?

    3. Djmohr

      Djmohr

I use frozen brocoli/cauliflower mix. Sometimes I add brussel sprouts if I have them. A can of Healthy request cream of mushroom soup, Shredded cheddar cheese and french fried onions. I used to put minute rice, butter and cheez wiz in there but I stopped doing that 2 years ago. It still is delicious and of course has the fat from the cheese in there. I use about a cup of shredded cheddar.

I just started my own business this week and have been hired to do a 6 week project. I can do 95% of the work from home but the first week will be in Austin Texas and I will be traveling alone. I sure hope things calm down.

  12. So last night I didn't get to go to the packer game but hubby brought me a present. It was a tiny little packer jacket that has tiny little arm holes. 4 weeks ago there is no way I would have gotten my big arms into that thing. Today, I slid my new beautiful arms in and there was even room. Hubby said, I knew you would have no problem with this! He got a big hug and kiss from me. What a nice surprise.

    1. WLSResources/ClothingExch

      WLSResources/ClothingExch

That's a triumph....I knew better upon reading your first line, but confess that it brought to mind the old, dopey joke: "My parents went to Las Vegas and all they brought me was this lousy T-shirt." tsm

    2. Djmohr

      Djmohr

LOL! I am obsessed with trying things on that I once couldn't because of my heavy arms. Now I look for stuff that is tiny in the arms. It's like a game of challenge. So far I have not found anything in my size that won't fit because of it. Before I was lucky if I fit in my size at all because of my arms. Yay ME!!!!!

  13. Getting ready for shoulder surgery tomorrow morning. I made lasagne soup with ricotta topping, cucumbers & sour cream, beef barley soup and grilled up some chicken breasts. Hubby cannot cook so it's either that or have him run out for food I don't even like. Everything is done and I can relax the rest of today.

  14. Well, so last week Friday i had that epidural and i had 2 full days without pain for the first time in 1.5 years. Bad news is, the pain is back in full force. Good news is, I talked with the doc and they said that because i went too full days without pain they know they have the right area. So now we are going to give it a couple of weeks and we may go back and do a second epidural. I am still very hopeful after talking with him.

  15. I am feeling excited today. I signed up at the pro health center in Pewaukee, Wi. Having such severe arthritis in my back, neck and shoulders makes it very difficult to exercise enough to burn calories. This center has a warm water therapy pool , warm water lap pool, whirlpools, saunas, full service spa, full service gym and even an acupuncture therapist. I am scheduled to have my first ever acupuncture session. I am a little scared but very hopeful that it will improve my pain. :)

Sounds like a great idea! Will be interested to know your thoughts following your acupuncture treatment. I, too, have a lot of arthritis and assorted other issues causing chronic pain. Meds and staying mobile and exercising is what keeps me going. Here's to hoping you get the relief you need!!

    3. Djmohr

      Djmohr

@MrsSugarbabe. I will definately keep you posted. I have been through pure hell with my current back and spine team. Apparently when you have severe throracic pain you are simply full of sh@t. All they have done is through hard core drugs at me and I am been in PT since December sometimes 3 times a week.

Yesterday I told them they couldn't diagnose a hangnail. LOL. They immediately decided now, after all this time that they should do an epidural steroid injection in the nerve root that is compromised. We scheduled it yesterday then today I get a call from their nurse, they thought that would be too agreesive and so they would like to cancel that appt. they thought continuing with pt would be the way to do. I was livid pissed and basically told them I was nervous about letting them touch me in the first place given their lack of ability to diagnose what is going on with me.

I told them to cancel every appt that I have because they are just collecting insurance money. I am tempted to report them to my insurance.

The only good news in this is I researched and found a highly respected orthopedic surgeon who reviewed my records and wants to see me. Called me himself. I see him on the 21st and I am looking forward to it. In the meantime I am using water exercise and acupuncture and hoping it will really help.

I did try a crispy caramel peanut bar tonight. I was scared but let me tell you, it was like eating a real candy bar. I hate most real candy now because it is too sweet but this bar was delicious and had 15 grams of protein!
