Greek Yogurt - Pricey and is it worth it?
I ordered a greek yogurt at Starbucks a few weeks ago because I read so much about it here. It sounded yummy, came with coconut-almond macaroon granola., pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries. It sounded amazing, but when I got it I was very shocked to find out that it tasted exactly like SOUR CREAM. WTH? Is it supposed to taste like that? I couldn't eat it.

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Kathy, I'm so sorry to hear that. I know how much you wanted to go. I decided not to try running. My son pointed out that it would simply speed up how soon I need the surgery and then I'd simply have to quit again anyway. Some I'm now in search of an exercise that I can do at home, that gives me great cardio, but doesn't hurt my feet. Wish me luck. :-(

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Carol, great to hear from you. Good job on keeping up with the running. I'm so blue about running, but I'm not going to stop trying. Doc told me to come see him when I want the next one taken out (more surgery). I asked if I could make it a year without the surgery and he said "sure, if you wrap your feet in bubble wrap". :-( At any rate I'm going to try to do W1D1 tonight and see what the feet feel like. It's hard trying to start again, knowing I'll need more surgery again soon. Maybe I can hold out until November again and have my thrid Thanksgiving in a row on crutches. I think people think Im a surgery adict. Nothing could be further from the truth. Kathy, definitely take lots of pics!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Kathy that's fantastic! Wow, what a thrill. You deserve it and I hope you enjoy every second of it. I'm afraid I have bad news for my feet. My left foot is healing nicely after having my second Morton's Neuroma taken out in one year. I was hoping to begin running again by now, but....I can't believe I'm going to say this...I have a THIRD Morton's Neuroma in my RIGHT foot! WTH? I'm so upset about it. I'm starting to think I may never run again. I see my podiatrist this Friday. I'm going to ask him should I run on my new flegling MN or what. I'm just disgusted. You know what they say, no good deed goes unpunshied. I finally find an exercise that I love and I can't keep my feet healthy. Not to mention, I'm up 9 pounds! boo hoo.....waaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh

What are the symptoms of band erosion?
I hope your surgery went well. I've read on here where folks have said insurance will pay, even if you are AT goal, if you have complications with your band. It might be worth looking into. Search this site and see if you can find any info on it.

Way to go TFTF! Good for you! There is no way to describe how the journey effects you to someone who has never went down this path. It is profound indeed. Happy Holidays!!

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
Kathy, I feel the same way about the treadmill. It's much harder to find a reason not to run when it's right in front of you and weather doesn't count. ha ha I think it's great that you and DH can have these friendly competitions. Maybe I'll try to get mine motivated once I can run again. We're going on a cruise in Feb, so we'll both be motivated to get in shape. They aren't kidding when they say time goes by faster the older you get. This is by far the quickest year of my life, but you know what else they say "Time flies when you're having fun!!" I love this time of year, until after New Year. By far, Oct/Nov/Dec is my favorite time of year!!

What are the symptoms of band erosion?
bodybutter64, I'm so sorry to hear about your band. Have they talked to you about putting another back in or about other possible solutions, like the sleeve?

Couch to 5k.....come join me!!
I get my stitches out this Friday and will be able to put full weight on my foot. I'm hoping to be able to start running by the new year. I had to move my treadmill to make room for the Christmas tree so it should work out perfectly! Congrats of beating DH!

What does stuck feel like
I've never had pain in my back, but it seems like I remember reading about others that have. I think you are right, you are probably having a bit of a stuck feeling. Just take it slower and take smaller bites and that should help.
-
What does stuck feel like
Stuck feels like pressure in your chest, kind of like you need to burp, but can't. It's intense and painful, but for me, typically doesn't burn. You may also notice if you are stuck your nose will run and you will "slime". Burnging sounds like indigestion. Have you tried antiacids?

salt sensitive?
Hmm, I haven't heard that one before. I can eat all those things, but these bands all have a mind of their own. ha ha I still think drinking more may help, since salt is the problem, I can't help but wonder if it is indeed a hydration issue.
-
Hight questions?
Just eat chinese food the night before and drink drink drink on the way to the appt. I was denied the first time through and I did gain weight to help me with my appeal and it worked. All's well that ends well.

New to the site
A lot of people have had good luck using the 5-day pouch test. You can search for it on this forum. It should get you kick started in the right direction! Congrats on your weight loss so far!

December Banding!
I was banded Jan 4, 08, so I know what you are going through. I was on pre-op for Christmas and New Year's Eve. YIKES! ha ha Doc told me to go ahead and "cheat" for Christmas dinner, but only that ONE meal. I took him at his word and it was fine. I still lost 11 pounds in 10 days! There are many different pre-op diets out there. Mine was fairly easy. For 10 days, 2 Protein shakes a day and one lean and green meal (4 oz of lean meat and 1 cup of veggies). The first three days are tough. You go through carb withdraw, but after that, it's smooth sailing. Congrats and good luck!

First mini goal ...... check!
TCarroll, welcome to Onederland!! As for the dress, how close to wedding date could you pick one out? I don't know if you have your heart set on a certain one or not, but I went with a friend to dress shop, we went to David's Bridal and she picked her dress out and we took it home the same day. It just needed some tweaks for custom fit, but would be doable in a pinch. My advise would be to cancel that appt because you will be NOTHING like you are now by May. Just shop in April and buy a dress that is very snug, then if you have to make a last minute nip, you could get someone to do a rush job for you. Congratulations!

Artificial Sweeteners?
I have heard of it, but I think it's only for certain people. I drink artifical sweetners all the time. If he's a stickler, I wonder if he would approve Stevia (I think that's the name). It a new zero cal sweetner that is made from sugar. Wouldn't help you with Crystal Light, but you could do cool aid with it maybe.

So happy to be overweight
Way to go MIK!

salt sensitive?
What do you mean by salt sensitive? Is it possible that you are dehydrated? If you don't drink enough liquids it can cause the band to get tighter. If you are able to drink with no problem and you can eat, some stuff, then you will probably be OK. Drink warm decaf liquids and be sure the hydrate as often as you can and things may ease up for you.

Question
I hope your surgery went well. I didn't do any laxitive at all and I only did the injections while in the hospital (24 hours).

Low BMI with surgery scheduled!!!
Sub, did you appeal to your insurance company with the info you just shared with us? Maybe they would make an exception?
