I had Alcohol tonight. I get so drunk so quick now. I'm glad I'm at home and well I had some bubbly so no idea but I'm sure I fell off my diet tonight... and I had a whole box of nerds.
    Happy New Year!

LOL. It was also my first carbonated beverage. I was scared. I survived.
I hate people thinking I'm going to eat 5 lbs of food, then they look at me weird when I say I'm full.

I have no idea why people feel the need to taunt their food and try to make you regret what you have done. There is no shame in ensuring your going to stay on a healthy path and actually make changes. Screw them. If its your husband I'd threaten him with a divorce, if its your kids, ground them...no internet, no car, no tv... nothing. If its your parents cut them off and teach them to behave. If its others, consider disowning them until they can be respectful. If all else fails, you could always put an ad out on craigslist to have someone rough them up. LOL. but seriously, when people do that, they think they are so much better. Focus on Water, Soup and Protein drinks. If family starts bugging you, grab your phone, headphones and go on a walk.

Yeah and dont be a dummy like me. Its over the counter and I bought the Wal mart brand and its about half the price. I thought I needed a prescription for the acid reducer. It helps big time.

That's a lot of trouble to go through to save $2.00. My advice, just pay the $2.00 or go to a different restaurant.
Restaurants are in business to make money and if it were me, I'd charge a sharing fee or more for an adult, even if they have had surgery.

I take testosterone shots each week which help with building muscle. If you don't get enough Protein your not going to gain muscle. You can most definitely gain muscle.
Look into Testosterone injections. It is a huge help. I found out that my Testosterone numbers dropped drastically after surgery. They upped my dose and I'm back to normal. The weight loss has slowed for me, but I'm still losing inches and my waist size continues to shrink.
I also need to up my calorie intake. Back to eating ice cream every night again. Last time I did that, I think I lost 9 lbs in a 7 day period.

pinkbunies reacted to GotItDoneInHarlem in Not a great Surgiversary at all
So I hit one year on last Wednesday, the 17th, and an only now bringing myself to do an update.
My surgery was a success! A major success! So much that I couldn't let go of that losing feeling. I kept telling myself that the 5-10 pound rebound (if there even is one) after one stops losing and then puts a couple on would stress me out less and be less "traumatic" is I lost just a little bit more. And that was it, I always felt I needed/wanted to lose a little more so that the rebound wouldn't hurt as much and I could.
It wasn't until I sailed long past my medical goal and my personal goal that I would see what I was doing. It wasn't until my partner told me that I looked sick and was no longer attractive or appealing on an intimate level, that I even began to think there was trouble brewing. People expressed concern at work. The people I supervise would ask vague questions to gauge when I would stop such as, "So how much more do you have to lose before your doctor's goal gets here?" My friends ignored and avoided the topic as it was easy to explain that my sense of hunger hadn't returned yet and I was struggling to get more in so I loaded up the lunch bag or ordered in for Breakfast and lunch so that people could see me eat. i carried around Protein Shakes that I'd pour into sink or toilet so I always had food on me. When they weren't looking I'd throw half or all the breakfast sandwich away and if I did eat 3/4th of one half of it, it sure as hell wasn't going to eat lunch that day so I began going "out" for lunch, but not eating.
It wasn't until my partner left me without even one bit of explanation that I took a good look at myself. I was dumped on the phone. Well, actually, my partner said "it's over" and hung up on me. I went to pack the contents of the drawer my partner kept in my home, something I had avoided doing for quite some time, and found that it was empty. Everything had been taken home the last time we saw each other. My partner saw it coming and uncereminiously dumped me because I was still so oblivious to my own role and in denial that walking away was the easier option than to continue to fight with me over the obvious. My partner knew that walking away from this issue was the only option.
My surgiversry was this past Wednesday, the 17th. I am the lowest weight I can remember as an adult. My previous memory of a low weight was 170. I'm 6' tall and currently weigh 148. I have a big frame and "carried my weight well" and look like a shadow of myself. I lost exactly 150 pounds in one year. I have lost over ONE HALF of my body weight. I am 8 pounds above being underweight, and, if I had plastics today, I bet those pounds would be gone too.
I NEVER thought this would be me.
I did it ALL right. I even read the emotional support handbook three times at different phases of my journey AND still highly recommended it to others (and still would). I'm a man and not the demographic for eating disorders at all, but I couldn't let go of the control and success. I had to keep going. Where I had man boobs I have protruding ribs. I have a flat chest for the first time in my life but my nipples hang low. For a while I looked GREAT in clothes for the SECOND time in my life, but now I look like shit naked or in clothes because you can always see my face. I look sick and I want to lose a few more still. When the number drops below me previous new low I get a rush of excitement.
That rush and exictement over a new low scares the hell out of me. I've cancelled my holiday trip home, told as many friends, family, and coworkers that I know will be around to support me no matter what, and I am spending Christmas in the hospital after being cleared for inpatient treatment of a eating disorder. I check in on Christmas Eve and I have 11 days off, until January 5th, to stay in the hospital. It's a short program designed to get a couple pounds on you, develop an outpatient plan, and get me a new psych and talk therapist. I'm presenting with a multiple diagnosis of various mental health concerns and am approaching this as agressively as possible without going into an open ended program and taking a FEMLA absence from my job.
Not to be a total bummer, I have to say I had a great experience with the sleeve. Too good. I'm glad that I'd be willing to do it all over again and again, but that's a good thing. Because now I DO have to start all over. All over to rebuild a healthy relationship with food that I missed out on last time.
Wish me luck and I thank all of you for your support this year. I don't know what I would have done without this place to come to for guidance and to draw on the experiences of others.
I'll report back again with progress in any direction.

I went today and got a new drivers license with a new picture. I compared the old with the new. I look like I'm 22 again. I have no double chin. My blue eyes just poke right out. I can't believe this. Surgery was October 22, 2014.
My other picture on my drivers license was from April of this year. I was huge.
Everyone who said it gets better was right. I still think I'm the same when I look in the mirror but wow , I know I'm changing for the better.

28 lbs in less than two months is great. Did you expect to lose 200 lbs in a month? Nothing is instant. It takes time. You will continue to lose weight. The Gastric Sleeve is a tool and will help you keep it off.
You are def. seeing results. Be patient. Its hard to get in enough Protein. I struggle with it everyday.

I'm worrying myself to death at the moment. I've followed everything I was told including no lifting over 10 lbs.
I noticed a few days after surgery that I had a small area that was some what swollen on the left side of my stomach, right below the ribs/breast on the left side.
Its not round and it doesn't hurt. There is no incision anywhere near this area. I'm wondering if this could be a hernia?
I'm planning to follow up with my doctor after Thanksgiving. Was just wondering if anyone else has had this?

I must report something new I have found. I had to go to urgent care the other day due to aches and pains... they gave me a script for Tylenol 3. I've been taking them and doing much better. Guess what? Constipation alert. So I thought Smooth Move. It didn't touch it. I used two bags in one coffee cup, let it step for 30 minutes and then drank it all and then had another cup, again with two tea bags. nothing. So , I think Tylenol 3 has stood up to smooth move for once. I've been drinking even more Water but I feel like I should be going more and I'm not. I called the doctor and asked about it and she said anything with Seena will do it. I had to laugh because that is the active ingredient in Smooth Move tea and most laxatives.

So I had the surgery in October. We're almost to the end of the year and I'm looking damn good.
This week I had the bright idea that I needed my smile to match the slimmer me. I have really nice straight teeth. I have thought they could be whiter. I broke down this week and paid the $400.00 and got my teeth whitened. It was worth it.
I was starting to think I was becoming vain, but I want to believe I'm just taking better care of myself
Have you found that after surgery, and losing the weight that you take better care of yourself and your image?

I'm inpatient and I want instant gratification. My insurance company basically told me... your fat, go on a diet, not our problem. I went to Mexico and had the surgery done for under $5k.
I'd suggest Mexico to anyone It's cheaper and they got me in quick.
