My doctor didn't lets eat Jello till 5 days after. Is it maybe because your throat is sore from the surgery?

I'm 15 days banded and I'm doing really well. My cycle is about to start and that's when I indulge in sweets. Are there there any suggested "treats" besides Jello? I need something to pack for work!

Well here I am on the other side. The pain isn't and wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be, except when I cough UGHH but holding a pillow on my tummy really helps. I haven't had any trouble swallowing at all and I really thought I would, I had not been able to feel the band but when I coughed I felt something in the general area and it was a bit uncomfortable, tight.
Narced up on liquid hydrocodone this morning so very comfortable and woozy. Emptied the sink of a small amount of dishes and silverware my husband left, top shelf so it was easy. Managed to feed the dogs. Put on a pot of coffee and drank a Protein shake for Breakfast.
Really feeling good and looking forward to losing more weight!

I do love a good debate.
What if it was HIV or if you needed surgery for urinary incontinence? Would you be quick to share this information with everyone you work with? I've known lots of people that are private about their health.
I did not share my surgery information with the world. I also do not share details about any of my other surgeries or past health issues other than a random cold. I'm just not big on sharing.
I also don't tell people how much money I make or how much I spent on my house. Not everyone is an open book.

Hello everyone! I'm finally banded and I couldn't be happier! It felt like forever waiting for insurance approval but after 4 months of nutritional visits I was approved. I was told my surgery took only 20 mins and everything went perfectly. I was incredibly sore after surgery and just wanted to sleep. Today I still feel sore and I'm not sure how to explain it but it feels like I have something (band) wrapped around my stomach. It's not painful just uncomfortable. Sometimes if I move to quickly I feel queezy so I'm taking it slow. My first fill will be 11/07 so that should be interesting. I'm not hungry but mentally I want a cheeseburger! I can barely take a sip of Water lol and want a cheeseburger, just crazy. So initially I started at 247 then got down to 235 on the preop diet, as of today I'm down to 230, which is pretty crazy to me. -5 in 2 days.

I was banded on June 4th, 2014. I started at 265, dropped weight before the surgery, and dropped over ten pounds the two weeks post op. I was so happy, so excited to see such a change so immediately. No one, not even my doctor, warned me about the months that follow surgery. I went in to the surgery with the idea that it would work from the get-go, and that my restriction combined with the will from pre-surgery would create an unstoppable momentum.
    I was grossly misinformed.
I was allowed to eat more than creams and liquids around the end of June/beginning of July. With the lack of a fill, I was able to eat and drink any and everything. It was disheartening. I thought over and over again that I was one of the % of people who wouldn't see success with the LB. The emotional toll that it took was the hardest.
I had fill in June, July, and August. I was at 7 cc's and wasn't seeing any difference at all. My lifestyle, while I had been hopeful, had become even more sedentary and unhealthy the longer I went without seeing any change. I felt that the surgery was for naught. The TR ladies were helpful, but with gaining one to two pounds with every check-in, I went from 265, to 247, to 253 by September 26th.
I had my last fill the 26th, up to 7.5 cc's. I had liquids the first 24 hours, then went to regular foods. Immediately I felt a difference.I had gotten too used to eating too fast, too much, too quickly. Within minutes I was full--and could see that 7.5 cc's was the absolute perfect setting for me at the moment.
I'm down to 244 and at my lowest weight in two years. Bandster hell is real. It's hard. It's depressing. It's also something I wish friends and doctors would have told me about to prepare for. Here's to making it through the toughest 4 months, and being confident that things are going to work out

Thank you for the apology and no hard feelings. I planned on calling my doctor on Monday but wanted to know if something could tie me over the weekend. I ended up having Tomato Soup and YUM!! No problems whatsoever. Thanks everyone for the help. It's appreciated.

I'm 11 days post op and started with blended Soups at 4 days post op. i quickly moved on to purees and soft foods as I haven't had any problems tolerating anything. I'm not saying its right for everyone, but it is working for me. I'd be happy to never see another Protein shake as long as I live.
    Good luck.

You really need to follow your doctor's orders. My surgeon allowed me to advance past the liquid stage within several days. In fact, his orders were Clear Liquids on days 1 & 2. May advance to full liquids on day 2 if tolerated. Days 3 & 4 were full liquids and on day 5 I was allowed soft foods. Having said that, you need to understand that your doctor knows your situation better than anyone else and has reasons for the orders he has given you. If you're really uncomfortable, give him a call and tell him. Perhaps he will give you the ok to advance sooner or at least help you understand why he doesn't feel that's safe for you, if that's the case.

I started eating liquid Soup ( cheesy broccoli) 5 days post op, I was also starving, when I went for my post op check at 11 days I told him, all about it, he asked if I had thrown up, and I said no at all, and he said, then your stomach is healed enough to handle it, he also said, I was gonna be able to eat sense I haven't had a fill yet, and stay with soft foods, so I have had Mac n cheese, refried Beans, mashed potatoes ect, anything I could chew into liquid form and swallow. I'm not saying it's ok for you to do what I did, I am in no way a doctor, I'm just letting you know what I did/ am doing???????????? you could always call your Drs office and tell them what's going on and see if they will give you any ideas as to what you can eat, good luck

I'm there with you. Got insurance approval on 10/08/14. Going through True Results in Houston. When I went for consultation appt on 9/17/2014. They set surgery goal for end of October, but despite less than a week to get approval from insurance company, still waiting for the medical director at True Results to release my records to the Surgeon so that I can have Preop visit and schedule procedure. I need preop appt for 10/21/14 to have any hope on getting procedure done during my surgical goal date window. I've done everything ahead of time based on there pre surgical map plan, but still major stall. Praying to hear from someone today. (Fingers, toes and eyes crossed). Good luck! We are probably just super anxious. Like kids waiting on Christmas Day. Lol

So I got approved on Friday and was so excited. Today I called my surgeon's office and my excitement quickly fizzed. Why is the earliest surgery date available on 11/26... the day before Thanksgiving? The next date after that is December 8th. What the heck? Are that many people having the bariatric surgery?
They are putting me on a wait list. Is it wrong for me to pray that someone else gets cancelled? When will this be over? OMG!

It's been almost six years now . Was important decision I made back then and I am so happy I did. I was rough in the beginning getting sick allot adjusting to a new way of eating . Which I did and I didn't . I am
Still the same person . I still like my sweets and eat a piece if hoagie / sandwich etc!
Growing up I was a very thin person and could eat anything but as I got older things changed
Kids hormones women issues etc I ended up putting on 86 lbs. Did the whole thing weight watchers diet pills, diets etc for years Then I was introduced to the Lapband. And now I'm back to myself again
I went through allot with getting sick and adjusting. I did gain back like 20 lbs and I'm in a great place!! Working out doing Zumba and power classes walking has all been now part of my normal life! I feel awesome and happy
Being between a size 6 and 8 well that makes my day! Very happier with my choice of the Lapband!!

Get that spray stuff to make your throat numb. Mine was all torn up from the tube they put in there during the surgery.
My favorite thing post-op was REAL chicken broth with dill and stuff in it.

I must chime in on this one. I went to Disney last sat., dinner ate Rain Forest , had Kabob , Steak and veggies. I was going to be good, well that didn't end the way I wanted to. I have been stuck before, and have learned finger down food out. well this time I slimmed about 10 times .yes I mean threw up , I could not get it unstuck. this was first time I got nervous. It pasted after 2 hours and I was sore, For you newbies out there, Chew and Chew , also when you get this stuck , go on a liquid diet for 24 hours ,this gives you time to heal. My wife told me I can never have Steak again.
