  1. I've been experiencing the same issue with pain. I have the Loratabs Acetemetiphen also and took those at 2am sat morning and have has to take every 6 hours. I think they are making me constipated. I had surgery wed dec 3 and came home Friday after I had a small bowel movement in hospital. I have been walking like dr and everyone says to do and tried heating pad. I , too, have not called my dr bc I've read things people wrote on here about pain and figured it was just suppose to be this way. In my opinion, I haven't passed a lot of Gas so I'm trying the GasX strip now. Tell me, is it suppose to hurt a little in your ribs and chest when you take deep breaths?? I have pain there and just keep thinking it's gas?? Is this normal people?? I don't want to go to ER bc I'm being a big baby about pain but also don't want to ignore signs. Help!! Advice please!!

    We are Rockstars

I had my RNY this past Wed. Dec 3rd. Was discharged from hospital yesterday (Friday). Today is my first full day to get in all my water and protein. Have done well with that but I'm having pain still . I guess it's kinda like the gas pains in the hospital. Does this gas stay in you this long?? Or could I have created gas today when I was drinking all day? I know I'm going to have pain bc they just rearranged my insides but I'm just concerned about still being in pain and don't just want to take pain pills-I want it to go away! Do I need to pass more gas? Only have passed gas maybe twice today. Help!! Advice please!!
  5. I was told when I had to go on clear diet - no protein shakes.

    December 18th 2014 Surgery Date

I'd love to get in on the support texting!! My surgery is Dec 3rd in Greenville, SC!! Had EGD done Friday and went well. ( Awesome drugs knocked me out and that was some of the best sleep I've have in a long time. I have a high tolerance to things like that so I was surprised I came home and slept most of day my husband said. So if you haven't had it done, just plan a long day sleeping!! I had to do a pre-op 4 week diet with a medical food brand called Optifast to shrink my liver. Our surgeons require it. It's 5 liquid meals a day plus 1 high protein 4oz protein, chicken etc and 1 cup of veggies and a fruit. I lost 15.5 lbs in the first 2 weeks-heading into my 3rd week now!! My number is 864-979-7852 so text and introduce yourself. I've got some great info on things to take with you to the hospital that your Dr probably won't tell you from my postop friends that were lifesavers!! Congrats to everyone on this journey we are beginning!!
  7. What are gas strips?? You mean Gas-x pills?

    Dec 3rd!

Hey All!! I'm Dec. 3rd too!! Woohoo!! I have to do a 4 week preop diet here in South Carolina. I'm 2 weeks in and have lost 14 lbs!! It hasn't been easy but I have stuck totally to it!! Not cheated once!! That's bc I just keep thinking how bad I want this and am just so ready!! Got a great mindset right now!! Would love to keep up with everyone along the journey!! Smile --- we are almost there!!
  9. Great advice! Thank you! It's good to know that my feelings are normal and that it will take time. Thank you!!
  10. Jonathan, Thank you for such wonderful advice. I am scheduled for rny dec 3 and had to start a 4 week liquid diet last week. I have waited a long time for this and jumped through many hoops to get to this point so I have been sticking strictly to the pre-op diet and have not cheated once. Results were an 8 lb weight loss in first week. I am happy with that weight loss but I'm starting to feel down/depressed bc I think I will miss food but not only miss food but the social aspects that surround food. I hear it is normal up maybe get depressed AFTER surgery and mourn food-but did you feel like this sometimes before surgery? Or like when you knew you were eating your last "whatever " food that was a favorite? I'm getting down thinking I'll miss food now that I'm in the point of no return if I'm going to start this journey. Well, I really started the journey the day I started this liquid and have to face the fact I no longer can eat those comfort foods. I'm just sad but want the surgery so bad that I'm just trying to tell myself I hate food. I'm just so confused . Did anyone else feel this way?? Help!

    Hello my 1st post

Welcome!! Great advice from Miss Mac. I'm in S.C. And will be having the surgery in about 4-5 weeks. My dr. Requires a 4 week liquid and high protein diet for 4 weeks and I don't know if I get to start it next week-I should be able to. My insurance company called me today and said I was approved and they had faxed it to my dr this morning so I'm just waiting to hear from my nurse in the morning to see when I can start the preop diet . Stay on this forum-lots of great info!!! Good luck!!!
  12. That's awesome!!! I'm waiting on that call to give me the go ahead!! Hoping it will come by Friday!! But once I get the call-I have a 4 week special liquid and 1 meal a day diet before surgery!! Ughhh!! So I am hopefully looking at the first week in December for surgery!! I pray!! Congrats again!!

    Pre-Op Diet Yay or Nay?

My Surgeon sets a goal for you to lose on your pre-op diet and you must make it or it will postpone your surgery. He said 95% of the clients make it bc they stick to it totally. It makes me nervous so I'm only putting in my mouth what is scheduled for preop!! Good luck!!
