Only 5 days post op and I'm over this

Had surgery 12/1 and got to go home the next day. I've had no problem getting liquids down, can even tolerate the Protein. Problem is the pain. I've had several abdominal surgeries before but this one takes the cake. I used the hydrocodone Acetaminophen elixir as often as I could until yesterday. My tongue got sore and swollen. Read that was a side effect so I stopped it. Today my throat is very sore and it hurts to swallow. Even Water. Abdominal pain is maybe a 3 out of 10 until I move, then probably a 5-6.

Top that off with my abdomen being SO swollen that sweat pants I wore for a surgery 4 years ago (at my largest size) are so snug I don't have to even tie them.

Not yet. I see lots of people on here who are/were experiencing pain and swelling. I'm not running a fever, pulse is normal, no change in the incisions. Didn't seem necessary.

I had surgery on 12/1 my swelling has went down considerably (it was bad) I've released a lot of gas in my opinion but keep releasing. I don't have a liquid form of a painkiller tho, I have pills. That's why I was wondering if you called and if they could give you something else. Maybe try some gas X strips?

I may call tomorrow. Thanks.

Gas x worked great for me as well. Also heating pads and lots of walking.

I've been experiencing the same issue with pain. I have the Loratabs Acetemetiphen also and took those at 2am sat morning and have has to take every 6 hours. I think they are making me constipated. I had surgery wed dec 3 and came home Friday after I had a small bowel movement in hospital. I have been walking like dr and everyone says to do and tried heating pad. I , too, have not called my dr bc I've read things people wrote on here about pain and figured it was just suppose to be this way. In my opinion, I haven't passed a lot of Gas so I'm trying the GasX strip now. Tell me, is it suppose to hurt a little in your ribs and chest when you take deep breaths?? I have pain there and just keep thinking it's gas?? Is this normal people?? I don't want to go to ER bc I'm being a big baby about pain but also don't want to ignore signs. Help!! Advice please!!

I remember the pain when I took a breath, in fact I complained about that most. I thought this was normal given the gas in my belly. I think it will pass but if u are worried you should call your doctors office.
