Deez416 got a reaction from mondaylady in Pre op diet starts in 3 days
The pre op diet surprisingly is not as bad. I was on a 2 weeks shakes diet, it was hard at first but tolerable it got a lot easier after the 3rd day. The shakes fill you up, so I never fought against that hungry feeling it was more of fighting against the will to snack.
    Good luck on your journey.

Until today, only my husband and doctors knew I'm perusing a band. Just told my mom on the phone. Figured it was a good time, since she was already distraught by my brother's announcement he's engaged with a March wedding date. Hehehe! She was actually very supportive and now understands why I will not be accompanying her to a popular, local weight loss center on Monday (for the third time). Phew... I feel better now!

Not sure how many other folks I'll tell. It's not necessarily a "secret," I just don't want to endure uninformed and unsolicited negative commentary. Then again, nobody has tried to derail my train yet. Maybe I will tell everyone, including the UPS man, like @2muchfun. That cracks me up!!!

Came across these two shots and had to post them. Like I said in my title, there are just no words...except that this is the result of being banded, not bypass or sleeved. Not that there's anything wrong with those surgeries. Whatever works for you is my motto. But for those morbidly obese and not sure they can go with a band, this just shows that it can be done.

Tomorrow will make four months since my life has changed, four months ago I had lap band surgery and I have lost 30 pounds. I am new to this site but just wanted to say I think it is great that a site like this makes it possible for anyone and everyone can talk about what is going on with them and their story with the lap band.

@@Jkim728 good to hear that it went well. I had mine yesterday and it also went well. Yesterday was tiering mentally and physically, I was so hungry and couldn't wait to put something other than Water in my mouth. Had a bit of Apple juice this morning.
My starting weight was 245 went down to 232.2 for surgery (pre op diet) but weird weighed myself this morning and I've gained weight I'm at 235...not sure what's happening, considering that I've only had water for the last 24 hours but won't let it bug me. Happy to be banded.

Update: I managed to get a glass of Water down with no problem. If I can keep juice and beef broth down then they will release me today. Yes 2muchfun I was on IV fluids along with some anti-inflammatories for my stomach. Time for my juice and skim milk! Wish me luck.

Hi there, congratulations both of you -- very exciting. I'm with Dahlia on the walking -- it really helped me. Any one who came over I had walk round and round the driving circle with me and whenever I got up from the recliner to pee, etc., I'd walk, walk, walk. I made it into a kind of game. I was never an enthusiastic exerciser but a switch went off in my head and today I am. Savory broth was a craving for me and I was able to have Miso with ginger, etc. (no bits) and broth. Also I enjoyed my Popsicles during this time, plus indulging in watching lots and lots of movies. Have fun and be proud of choosing yourself first and your healthy future. You are worth it!

Congratulations to Deez416 too ! If this is any help, I could'nt stand boxed or canned chicken broth. Even the low salt was way to salty for me. Instead i had Campbells chicken noodle Soup or Campbells vegetable beef soup . I would just drink the broth. Oddly, I didn't find them too salty and this helped me get something warm in my stomach, Good luck to both of you !

I was an unhealthy, diabetic, high cholesterol, BP, etc., had one heart attack which resulted in cardiac surgery, short of breath carrying groceries into the house, dizzy spells, etc. etc.
Dr. sat knee to knee with me and plainly said I did not have much time on this earth and there is nothing else he can do for me...everything was out of control.
I was seeing about 5 different Dr.'s on a regular basis for different things wrong with me....
My PCP said if I should loose 40 lbs things would start to turn around.
I said I have done every diet known to man and failed at every one....he said then WLS was my last resort, last chance,
I have lost all the excess weight I can loose, I am now living with a very low body fat %, reaching what my body considers to be it's optimum.
Go to the gym everyday. Run 3-5 miles a day. I am as active as I ever was!! Feel as though I am 30 years younger.
I play on a softball team with guys 10-20 years younger than me and I can run circles around them.....
I only see 2 Dr.'s now, not counting my Surgeon, and they are all simply amazed at the turn around....My Cardiologist refers me to Liam Neeson, the actor who is my age and does his own stunts....
He told my daughter (who also specializes in cardiology), that I am a non stoppable "Machine"
I would not trade this for anything in the world...it not only changed my life, it saved my life. Best decision I ever made...
BTW, I will be 63 years old in a few months, no more diabetes or the other ailments.

Hey there, congratulations! I had never been an overnight patient in the hospital before and it was all so much better than I thought it would be -- nothing compared to dentistry, which I hate, or bad cramps, etc. I filled my prescription for pain meds but didn't use them -- side effects seemed like they woukd be worse than the discomfort of laparoscopic healing. Walking is absolutely the best -- kicks the body into healing mode, releases any trapped gas and helps soothe the chattering mind. Good luck -- glad you're here!

I'm getting banded, surgery is scheduled for noon tomorrow.
Very nervous, more nervous for the surgery / complications / day of only Water vs life with the band.
I'm also very excited and will keep you posted on my success.
