This seems pretty rude and uncalled for. The op has been a member for a while now, why would you even say something like this?

Tamster01 reacted to iamjamilyn in 4 months out "HAIR THINNING" OMG
I am happy to hear that I am not the only one...and it can grow back! I will be 6 months post surgery on the 8th and have had a lot of Hair loss, but I also started taking a thyroid med after my surgery and thought it was more because of that. I take Biotin but I have not seen a great change in the past 4 months. I will gladly exchange some hair for the 84 lbs weight loss so far! I hope it grows back but if I have thin hair, I can live with that. I would rather have my health any day.

    Hey all,
Excited to post in this section of the forum for the first time! I thought it would be nice to share my ever-evolving journey with you all
To make a long story short:
My name is Mark - I am a few months shy of 23 years old and live in New York City.
I am a proud Bandster, having had lap band surgery with Dr. George Fielding of NYU Langone Medical Center on May 6, 2013.
My highest weight ever was 357 lbs. As of February 21, 2015, I am 201 lbs, giving a total loss of 156 lbs! I have attached some pictures that are pretty recent.
I am overwhelmed with joy to say that my next chapter in getting to my body goal is super near - I will be undergoing a body lift (tummy tuck + muscle repair, thigh and butt lift) as well an arm lift this coming Friday, February 27th at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey.
My plastic surgeon is Dr. Joseph F. Capella who specializes in bariatric patients and was recommended to me by fellow member Cheryl, also known as My Bariatric Life! I am eternally grateful to her for this.
I am excited to document this part of my journey with you all and become more active on this forum again! I'm super nervous for the recovery but have zero doubts that it is what I need for myself.
Thanks for listening please feel free to add me here, Twitter and/or Instagram.

When the guys at work started noticing my weight loss and asked how I did it. I told them the truth. I said, "I have drastically cut back on the amount of food I eat and I do a lot of walking." And left it at that.

Tamster01 reacted to alese-inFL in I was Sleeved at 70 yo!
    Hello....
My name is Alese...I live in sunny southeast Florida outside of Fort Lauderdale. I am actually 71 yo now and at my goal of 130 lbs.
I did go down to 125 lbs and was very happy there but my husband, family and friends thought I was too thin. I love hearing those words-"too thin". I do fluctuate between 130-135 lbs with a BMI in the "normal" range. Hallaluyah! I am also 5'4.5" but not always at that height. With osteoporosis I dropped from 5'7" to what I am now. Aging is the PITS!
I started out at 235 lbs before seeing my gastric surgeon, Dr. Michael Perez in Fort Lauderdale. At the time I was seriously considering WLS-I only knew of two procedures. The gastric by-pass and the band. I had a pancreas-kidney transplant 11 yrs before due to Kidney failure from Diabetes...I was on dialysis for alittle over one year and a half so I knew the gastric by-pass was not for me due to the absorption issue of my anti-rejection medications. I was resolved to have the lapband. I had my first appt. with my surgeon who introduced me to the 'sleeve' that it was the procedure for me. My insurance (Medicare) had not heard of the sleeve, at least in Florida so actually only had to wait a couple of months before the sleeve made its way down to FL and was approved within a week or so by Medicare.
On July 30, 2013, I had the surgery, no issues....then I found I couldn't get the large vitamins/minerals down, hardly was hungry and the biggest problem for me was the 'water' intake b/c as a transplant, Water is vital.....I was dehydrated alot and had to have IV fluids sometimes for 7-10 days and would gain 10 lbs off the bat! YIKES! Frustrating....After about 7 months and showing great weight loss I was able to drink more water but still had bouts of dehydration but not as often....
I am 1.5 yrs post transplant and feel wonderful. My health issues that were damaged from the complications of diabetes are still with me, but I DO NOT have diabetes, am not on insulin nor dialysis, naturally from the txp. However, I do still have severe back pain that may have lessened (but not enough for me!) I am visually impaired and had to give up my career as a Realtor and cannot pass a driver's sight exam! So am dependent on my husband...
In Summary: The sleeve is the best procedure out there, for me! I would suggest it to anyone who is not certain which procedure to go through. The band has some side issues that were not good for my new organs as it could 'come loose', float around and worse. I used the website Obesity Help when I was questioning which procedure to use--the band people exploded with why I should not have that one..as mentioned above. I am happy for their advice and I know I did the right procedure.
I am new to this site and am happy I found you.
    Take care and Be Well.

Well he said i will take u...(13 years this is a FIRST) well we shopped in Reg sizes!! Not plus sizes and OMG sz 16 petite skinny jeans fit meeee!!! I'm only down 38 pounds. But it's coming off in good places! He then took me to a shoe store and bought me some knee boots!! My calves have always been too big for them. Considering I wear a size 6. Even "wide calf" wouldn't come close. It was a great day for a little confidence boost. Hope everyone is doing great!!!!!

I told my sister. I wasn't going to, but she was trying to convince me to buy a new bread machine (that makes homemade noodles! OH BOY! I really need more bread and noodles!) I told her, don't need it, doubt I'll be making any bread or noodles for a long time, if ever again. She said..."WHAT?! ANOTHER DIET?!!" "HOW long will this one last???". I told her about my decision to have gastric sleeve surgery. THEN out of her mouth came........."EWWWWW!! Have you thought that through??" um, yeah, I didn't just wake up this morning and say...hmmm I think I'll have major surgery to remove 85% of my stomach sometime after the first of the year. Note to self. Don't tell anyone else.

My advice keep it to yourself. The only people you need to tell at your work place is HR and your boss. simple I'm having surgery. There are rules employers has to abide by and the shouldn't ask what kind of surgery.

Yeah, no one's business. It's actually illegal for an employer to ask. It's a surgery. Period.

I'm not a very good liar so I just told everyone I was having "surgery." It was none if their business what kind. If anyone had the nerve to ask for details, I just said that I preferred not to discuss it.
