    Stall one week out?

I know it can be discouraging but you are still losing plenty of weight! When's the last time you dropped 27 lbs in a month? That's almost 1 lb a day!! Stalls are all over the place and for all different reasons. Did you have RNY? The body is still healing and adjusting to the significant detour and construction it just underwent. The weight will drop off again because you seem to be doing all the right stuff! Go girl! ST

Why pink girl? Have you lost any weight at all? What complications have you had re: directly linked to lap band fail. Can you not get it removed? S

Thank you for your 2 cents Daisee.. Very helpful for sure. I did read the entire thread, hence the reaction. I'm not entirely sure I understand your "moaning about following the rules" bit but either way she seems like a very smart and very capable woman who will disseminate the suggestions and pick healthy choices to get on track. It's just a rule of thumb to not really listen to everyone on the internet because typically, the suggestions are false and could cause more harm. She has already stated that she is back on track and very motivated. I doubt it was my comment and I doubt it was this comment to me that got her going in the right direction. It was scary to me how blindly some people go into this. I know now that the Egyptian health care system does not fully prepare people at all for this type of surgery. Aggressive or not, it was my opinion and that's all really. Just as you have a strong opinion about my opinion, everyone's entitled to one. Cheers for now and Merry Christmas! Me

While I agree it wasn't the most "kid gloves" approach post, it did work on some level! Lol. Perhaps just enough to make you stop and get angry and find an approach that works for you. Encouragement, tough love, support, anger.. All great motivators. And look at you go now woman!! 8 lbs down and totally motivated. I'm sorry if it offended you, I can totally understand how it could come across as cold and unsupportive but it was meant to be just the opposite! It isn't the sweetest post I've ever written (by faaaar) but in fact a harsh reminder of the seriousness of the procedure we underwent. I'm so glad you're doing great! That's the important thing and that you know I was trying to come from a good place! Cheers and good luck on your journey!

I don't want to sound abrupt and rude but You need to seriously just stop and go back to the diet from day one. You went as far as to surgically rearrange your digestive tract system to lose weight, so just stop! Start with slow eating, get all your liquids, vitamins and protein in and you need to slow down and stop making poor choices. You can eat sugar this soon and not be sick? Even cold cuts make me sick sometimes over 1 year post op.. I would suggest seeing a therapist as well. Start back at the start, hit the reset button and listen to your body! You have a very small stomach, 1/2 cup of good is all we need to fill it with good choices (protein protein protein) good luck and I would seek professional help as opposed to relying on this forum. It would be such a shame to fail after such a serious surgical tool. It is a tool but you have to make the right choices. I wish you an amazing journey and I hope you choose to fight and continue on your weight loss path.

    Pregnancy after surgery

Congrats!! That's so amazing. I definitely would not rely to heavily on advice from this site for your pregnancy.. (Not that people aren't knowledgable) As someone mentioned, you are automatically considered high risk and you need to advise your doctor right away and get a professional to monitor and care for you. This is so wonderful, enjoy it and find a great, well versed in wls OB!!
  8. Even though I had a medically challenging and difficult year post-op (4 additional emergency surgeries later) I wish to proudly brag that I am 180+ lbs down and am so much healthier! Medically speaking, my blood pressure is better than normal, my sleep apnea is completely gone, my asthma is much better, my feet don't hurt, my knee is aching less constantly, I have so much more energy and my body is grateful for what I have done to try and maintain a heathy lifestyle. NSV's; I can climb stairs and walk without wanting to die, I can keep up with my nieces and nephews, I can fit in booths in restaurants without having a panic attack before hand anticipating what kind of seating the place will have, I feel so good about myself, I eat to fuel my body and not as a coping mechanism, I can cross my legs, I am more confident and less self conscious, I will be able to sit in a plane, I'm getting noticed, I smile constantly (ok well, almost all the time - lol) I can shop in almost any store and people are much kinder and when I get staring it's usually because I look good! Lol. I'm super proud of how far I've come and look forward to continuing my success to get to my goal weight and the will, stamina and strength to maintain it for life. Now.. Just to quit ????.. Last vice, I'm getting ready!

I think I'm going to write a letter

What a great idea!! Letters to myself for a future anniversary (like you mentioned) and one when I'm struggling, partially off the wagon or have lost focus and what's important to me.. I love it! Totally nabbing this idea too! Thanks, great idea lady!

    Alcoholic drinks after surgery

I was really looking forward to becoming a cheap date so I was a little bummed out when my tolerance didn't really change. I find the way alcohol affects me different now???? and you should be careful re: driving. You likely would blow over after a drink or two. I like vodka and water with added flavours.. Crystal light or dasani, yum!

    Period is late? Help!

It's pretty common on the liquid diet part.. It's a pretty drastic change to your system... That being said, if you're thinking you might be pregnant, go get a blood test. Also very common post op to have crazy cycles. It's a shock to the body for sure!
  12. My parents have a good friend from Canada who has heart health issues. He actually travels to the US to see a cardiologist because the wait in Canada is so long when he has problems. He'd be dead by the time he got in to his regular doctor. But get used to it folks....that's where we are headed with our national healthcare system. And that's just for the procedures the insurance companies will actually approve. If some pencil pushing bureaucrat doesn't think you need an MRI or myelogram CT to diagnose neurologic deficits in your neck or a fecal transplant to cure a C. diff infection or WLS surgery to cure obesity, then you aren't getting them. Unless you pay for everything yourself and prove they were necessary and successful, but then what's the point of insurance? Oh, yea, so the pencil pushing bureaucrat can get a paycheck! I'm not sure about the health care system in the USA but I can say that I'm pretty proud to be Canadian and the healthcare system that we have. I come from a larger town in Canada with many choices of hospitals, all of which give excellent care. The 7-10 year weight thing is absurd and is even embarrassing just to read. I'm sure if you travelled to a bigger town, you may see that timeframe come down to 6 months to a year, and for free! Long live Canada! Lol

Willing to mentor. 5 1/2 years post op

There's weight loss perps out there? Lol. You seem really grounded and normal. I like your style.
  14. My goodness, where in Canada is the wait that long?? Poor you!

    Help! TMI Beware

I'm having crazy trouble pooping as well. Nothing really works. I cram in protein, drink as much water as humanly possible, take 2 senekot before bed and even lactulos.. You think I'd be a machine, nope. I really want to take bran buds in the am.. Any problem with that? I'm 2.5 months out..
