JakeLancaster got a reaction from MarinaGirl in Dr Wilhelmy in Mexicali Bariatric Center
Right on Sthomas! I am a band to sleeve revision. I researched long and hard on where to have my surgery done. I was looking at several things for my 2nd and last surgery. I wanted a place with a good record of doing revisions without complications and in a single surgery. I wanted a real hospital and I wanted a sleeve that had proven results. I got all 3 with Dr. Wilhelmy at Mexicali Bariatric Center.
I had surgery one month ago and have lost 25 lbs already. I can eat very little and know this sleeve will take me where I need to be.
I thank Dr. Wilhelmy and staff and congratulate myself for making a better decision this 2nd time around. Live and learn I guess.

Many sleeved patients lose over 100 and even 200 lbs. Doctors give you conservative numbers or averages. If you realistically think that you can stick to the nutrition plan you are on now and exercise then there is no need to go through surgery. For most of us dieting and exercise without the help of surgery are just not enough. Do you know the stats for keeping the weight off with just dieting and exercise? Under 10%. I never was one of those 10%. Surgery was my only long term option.

JakeLancaster got a reaction from BeagleLover in Why do some folks have weight loss less success than others?
I am a revision patient, had a band now have a sleeve. The band may be great for many but it was not the right tool for me.
I think success depends on 3 things.
First. Make sure you have the right tool you need to lose weight. If the sleeve is the one you believe will be the one that can help you eat less and lose weight do that one. If not choose another surgery! Do not do this because everyone else is.
Secondly. I also believe that having the best sleeve done is important. I see many people getting resleeved because they find out their sleeves are now too big or were not done the correct way. Investigate and see who is doing sleeves that work.
Thirdly. Do our part honestly, commit to the changes. These need to permanent changes for the most part. You will only be cheating yourself if you do not.
    Good luck !

Yes, ON MY SCALE! I started to notice that I give my scale foreplay when I walk in the bathroom, my husband always says "are u really?!?!?!?" But yes, I begin to say things like, I know you're goin to love me today, please be nothing but good to me, show me nothing but love, go ahead, give it to me, I can take it, then I close my eyes and get on and OMG, let it be .5 less and I have all the sweetest accolades and pet names in the world.
So yes, after a 3 week stall, I literally picked it up and kissed it this morning, 4lbs down after I thought I pigged out a bit this weekend. I say pigged out, really means since I ate a whole half a chicken sandwich WITH cheese...SHHHH, I felt bloated all day...smh. But lo and behold, it was still Protein and it was still in my benefit, so the scale continued on it's downward spiral!!!!
WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!! P.S. That also means, "THIS CHICK" is less than 200lbs for the first time in 17 Years!!!!! GOOO meee, GOOOO uuuuuuuu!!!!!!! Weeeeee doin it together!!!!

I am having my band removed and I am switching to a sleeve. I have had problems with my band but mostly just not having the results I need. Other than my band not being eroded my surgeon says I can have the revision done in one step and the surgery I choose really. The band failed a lot of us, I can honestly say I did my best to work with it and it should have helped more. I do not minimize my part in the process on the contrary this is why I feel it failed me. I gave it my all and it worked for a while but them it stopped, the reflux, too tight, too lose, not being able to eat healthy food, etc Most people with a band know the drill. It took a while to decide on the revision because i do not want another disappointment but I talked to so many successful band to sleeve revisions that I am ready and feeling positive about my outcome once more.

Great topic, I am scheduled for my band to sleeve revision. I think the starting BMI has a lot to do with it too. I would be scared of the 44 size bougie, I really want this to be the last surgery. I get the acid problem with the band though and understand why you choose the large bougie I just do not want to risk it. I am prepared to lose slower than I did with my band, I was told revisions lose slower but your averages sound great. See you on the other side in a couple of weeks!

I had my band to sleeve revision in one surgery. This was one of the deciding factors in choosing a surgeon for me. I did to want to go through 2 surgeries when i knew that a surgeon with revision experience could do it in just one surgery.
My surgery went very well and I am back home toughing it out on my liquid diet.

JakeLancaster got a reaction from OCSlim in ARE THERE ANY SLEEVER'S WHO WENT WITH DR GABRIEL ROSALES IN MEXICO?
I did not run into his name in my research, I went to Mexico for my band removal and sleeve surgery and researched doctors and hospital for a while before deciding. I chose my surgeon because of his ability to do the procedure in one surgery, it speaks of his skill and experience. I am very happy and extremely impressed with the quality of the care I got, the hospital was impeccable and the doctors attentive and professional.

Dr Wilhelmy sutures over the staple line, I just had my surgery with him last week. He does 3 lines of staples plus the sutures. I had a revision from band ro sleeve which increased my chances of a leak. I passed all 3 leak tests.

Good luck, I had reflux with my band, not diagnosed with barrette's but bad enough that I was nervous about having the sleeve and it getting worse. I just had my sleeve last week so it is too soon to really know if it will get better or not. From what I was told if my reflux problem was too bad the sleeve was not the best option but rather the bypass. Have you discussed this with your doctor, did he give you any options?

React as if they are acting appropriately. Keep repeating it until they get the point.
"I appreciate that you are willing to take an interest in my health. Your support means a lot to me."
Eventually they will get the idea that you are not interested in debating with them, that they are, in fact, acting like unsupportive jerks; and that their continued hurtful comments and questions are not going to get them the result or debate that they want. And they'll either shut up or decide that they really *should* be supportive.
