Telling about surgery
I've been very open about my procedure. There are three women in the office I work in who have had it done, and I went to them with questions and concerns about everything, even when I was nervous about certain tests I had to get done, and each of them shared their own story of what requirements they did and didn't do, compared to myself. One of those women even covered three of my days have I took. I worked until the very day before my surgery, and I had so many people telling me they were very excited for me and my new start of a new life. Nothing but positiveness from people at work; even my boss told me he was happy for me and that I deserve the surgery. This surgery is something I've wanted for at least 10 year, so there was no way I was going to keep my mouth quiet about something so exciting.

What's on your bucket list?
Disneyland. I've been there twice in my life and have obviously been obese both times, so I never felt comfortable. Yosemite National Park. I went there this year for my birthday, but I want to go back and walk on a long trail or something!!

A Week Out and Terrible Heartburn - HELP!
I'm not here with helpful advice, but I wanted to tell you that I hope you find some relief!!

constipation
Eat prunes or drink prune juice. My mom doesn't have a very healthy diet and eats lots of bread products, so she gets constipated on a regular basis and loves to eat prunes. I prefer prune juice.

how has your diet changed since surgery?
I'm not going to lie, I still regret NOT ordering a small pizza for myself before my surgery! When I went to the group Nutrition class, the psychiatrist was VERY serious when he was telling us that our surgery could be cancelled if we gained too much weight between the start of our process to the day of, so I was traumatized and didn't go ALL OUT like I wanted to. Anyways, back to the topic at hand... I'm 10 days post of and when I went for my pre-op appointment on 10/27, I ate at this Soup & salad buffet called Sweet Tomatoes. I had a big salad (with plenty of ranch dressing), 3 bowls of chilli, 2 pieces of cornbread, fettuccine alfredo, pumpkin pie, and chocolate mousse. Today, after my first post-op appointment, my mom and I went back to the same place. I had some decaf coffee, waited a bit, then got myself a bowl of chilli and some chocolate mousse; I had three tablespoons of mousse and half the bowl of chilli. THAT WAS IT! Huge difference.

Money out of pocket day of procedure
Well, I ended up not having to pay anything. Whew!! When the hospital had called me (for about the 3rd time) to confirm my surgery, I brought it up, and the woman said that if I were going to have to pay something, they would inform me; said they try to be good about that stuff so I don't show up to a surprise! lol

Can I take Zzz Quil?
Elode, I enjoy it too!! I had been taking Advil PM, but was advised to stop once I had my sleeve done. Thanks for your input Susan!!

Can I take Zzz Quil?
I plan to ask at my first post-op appointment but, I was just wondering if anyone might possibly have an idea if I can take this?? I'm heading back to work next week and after being off for 2 weeks, I know I'm going to have a hard time going to bed at 7 pm. I have to be up by 3 am to get ready for work, and be there by 4:30. Thanks in advance

Thoughts on sugar free?
Sugar free popsicles are amazing! I love them sugar free jell-o hasn't been so bad either!

First day back to work!
I'll be returning to work this coming Wednesday. I work Wednesday-Saturday; wednesdays are about an 8 to 9 hour shift, and the other three days I work ten hours. I have a sitting job (I'm a weigh master at a Cattle company), but it's been VERY busy there lately, so I'm hoping I won't have too much discomfort when I have to lean forward to give each driver his/her weight ticket to sign.

What are you excited for?
I'm excited about.... losing 100 pounds wearing a size Large! Not having to get my cute clothes from Torrid (that place REALLY makes you "pay" for being fat) Being able to eat one cookie or one scoop of ice cream and STOPPING after that there's more, but that's what I can think of now

Out of the 300 club!
Yesss!! Kick that 300 club to the curb!

Something different!
I'm right there with you...I'm so over my diet too. I bought a case of Chicken broth yesterday, but it was disgusting!! My mom looked at the packaging and said it was 100% fat free, so maybe that was why?? I don't mind the sugar free jello and popsicles, but these broths are gettin on my nerves LOL

Worried for surgery tomorrow
Good luck on your new journey!! I was only nauseous once. I'd say the gas caused me more discomfort than my actual incision sites.

5 Days Post-op Constipation! Help!
I got lucky, I had my first stool since Halloween surgery, but....(sorry TMI), it looked a little too dark? Not sure if I should mention it to the Nurse practitioner on Monday.

What do you order when you go out to eat with your family?
I know several people who say they refuse to give up soda. I'm the total opposite though; I gave it up last year and it has been easy! My addiction has never been carbonated drinks though, it's all the delicious processed/fried foods!!

What do you order when you go out to eat with your family?
I'm just a little baby here...6 days post op. Yesterday though, my mom & I went out together and did some shopping. I didn't expect her to go the entire time without eating just because my diet is so restricted right now, so we decided on Denny's. I ordered a cup serving of their chicken noodle, a decaf coffee, and small cup of Water. I won't lie, it was hard sit there with my little Soup, while my mom ate her eggs, bacon, and pancakes. She had told me while we were looking at the menus that she felt bad eating in front of me! So needless to say, I do try not to make comments in front of her, because she shouldn't feel bad for eating in front of me. I told her, "mom, I made the choice to have this done! You shouldn't feel bad!!"

I can smell the lasagna in my house!
My mom has the same meals she's been making for YEARS; one of them is Spaghetti. Well, I don't know what happened, but about a year ago, I stopped liking it; the smell, the taste, everything! I've told her multiple times I don't like it. Last night, guess what she made?? I know she made it with good intentions because she didn't wanna make something that would tempt me (4 days post op here), but I kid you not, I WOULD'VE EATEN SOME IF I COULD'VE!!!

Initial weightloss
I'd say you're losing it pretty steadily. Be happy, girl!!

Vitamins
How does everyone feel about those gummie Vitamins?? Some woman on this baratric facebook page was kind of rude to me after I'd posted that my surgeon said they were OK to take, and she went off and said they AREN'T ok, that people can die from taking them, and that I need to do my research.

Refried beans and cheese
Mmmm, cheese!! I've always loved cheese, so I already know I'm going to have to gradually reintroduce myself to it. I've got a ways to go before I can have beans & cheese though.

Stomach binder?
I had talked to my doctor about this at my pre-op appointment and he flat out said I wouldn't need one; that bypass patients tend to need one, but I'd be fine. WELL, I had the hardest time moving around in my hospital bed and my bed, so I think getting one would've definitely been beneficial!!

Catheter during surgery
Yes it is!! They put one in my toilet too, and said I needed to fill it up.
