I've been craving the "bad stuff" this week too. All we can do is climb back on the bandwagon and hold on tighter for the ride. I hope your appointment went well.

  3. Glad the obsession of getting surgery has died down a bit...it's making time go faster! Second diet appointment done!

@Sleeve_Sistah85 unfortunately I found out I have to wait until June for some extra things I have to do for the psychologist....but I'm over my bummed out phase

I still have to go see the psychologist and Nutritionist. Figured I have plenty of time...but Im glad I spoke to you, Id better look into it right away.

@Sleeve_Sistah85 yeah I'm glad I took my surgeons advice and saw my psych for the eval early because he had a whole list of crap he wanted me to do...which isn't always the case but better you know now if you need to versus at the end and delaying things!

  4. My surgeon feels rny gets better results with people who have been over weight most of their lives due to the malabsorption and the way it works...she is not against the sleeve but we decided I would better benefit from rny. So those are some things to talk with your surgeon about.
  5. My first support group was amazing! There were people pre op, a couple weeks out, a few years out and one man who was 14 years out! Great to have so many points of view in one room...a wealth of knowledge!

I agree...I also went to a support group at my hospital. So cool. Especially hearing from the dietician.

  6. Support group meeting #1 out of 8 tomorrow ...things are coming together!

  7. Passed my psych eval have a few things I have to complete but should be able to submit to insurance by June after getting my to do list done!!

@Sleeve_Sistah85 buuutttt I was actually planning on June anyway since I am moving apartments in April so I wanted to get settled before I did the surgery so it kinda is all happening the way it should!

@vmcelroy70611 that's exciting!! ...but I'm sure an excruciating wait lol I did mine very early since I figured I would have some extra requirements so hopefully everything will all kind of come in and fall together at the same time to turn in!

I did mine last wednesday. He said he will try to get it done within the week, but I called the dr today. Still doesn't have it. Ugh

  8. Hey everyone....I am still pre op and doing obsessive research about health eating and all that jazz. One thought kinda goes unanswered. I've been overweight my entire life so I don't know what a thin me looks like or feels like. For others who had never been thin before surgery is it a big adjustment looking at the new body that starts to appear and do you still physically feel big or do you just all of a sudden feel different. I don't know if this question makes sense...but I'm trying to imagine being thin and with no previous experience I don't know... Thanks for any answers if you understand what I'm asking!

    How did you tell people?

I had a little bit of a rough time getting my mom on board onnnly because she is a nurse and she freaks out about surgeries and medical procedures knowing what could go wrong.....but after she calmed down from her OCD nurse attack she was supportive. I only opened up to coworkers when I asked my boss how our fmla works and she asked do u mind if I akso what you are having done and I just blurted out weight loss surgery and was surprised I had no snese of embarrassment or regret for telling her i then told a few other coworkers that I talk with regularly. I am not having an issue telling people I think because I'm so excited to start my life that I should have had all along that I want to tell people!
  10. Psych eval tmrw! Another thing I get checked off my to do list!!

      Ladiec2

I'm still trying to find one that does less than 3 sessions in Washington, DC. Good luck!

Thank you! ....is three sessions like a regulation or something in dc? I only have one but was told could have follow ups if the psych deems necessary...

  11. I didn't have health insurance until this year actually so I feel your pain. Like the other person said just check any history of doctors visits even like an immediate care walk in clinic 9xs out 10 they take ur weight at those and my nurse advocate suggested I just scrounge up any and all visits I had in the last five years to make up for never having a primary physician. For the physician followed diet the program you get involved with May have a bariatrician to help with that the center I am using has an in house bariatric physician that does group monthly weigh ins and discussions to get us our 6 month supervised "diet" as long as the only thing talked about during the visit is weightloss ur fine 6 visits then u can submit to insurance! It is going by faster than I thought so don't fret lol! U don't want to lie though and get denied and risk not being able to do this at all! From what I've read there really isn't any way around the six month diet if ur insurance requires it unfortunately but.....that will be the time that u can use to educate yourself for after surgery start excercising so u can recover easier and get all of the other hoops and things that u will have to do to grat approved ...so look at it positive! I've recently started my journey as well so I'm in the same boat I've had one diet appointment and I actually end up having to do 8 vs 6 so I've had the same thought as you...I'm just thinkin I've been overweight basically my whole life 8 more months is nothin lol

    Psych appointment help

@@docbree great! Thanks for updating! I'm glad to hear everything went well you put me at ease about mine to since you have some mental health element as do I. I was concerned that that could hinder me but I'm glad to see it didn't seem to hinder you! Congrats! One step closer!
  13. @@Ladiec2 I think it's just human nature to be obsessive about this kind of stuff but I think it puts a whole new element when you take people who have dealt with something like weight for so long and imagining a whole new life! Its crazy!
  14. My boss at work makes us write down three very specific things that we are grateful for every morning before we start work. You are supposed to do it once a day for 21 days and you will change your mindset. Every morning I write one good thing about my WLS journey and it is making me feel great! Something to try!!

  15. @@amiclvrt welcome and congratulations on your decision for wls! I am in the beginning phases as well...and waiting is the hardest lol. I think I super obsessed about 2 wks before my seminar and died down a tad about 2 wks after....I had my seminar the 1st of October and had my first supervised diet appt yesterday I have six months of that and an additional 2 months for some specific stuff until I can submit to insurance so congrats on maybe January or February surgery lol!! If you need a journey buddy I'm in the beginning stages with ya so feel free to holler at me! I am scooping up all newbies like me for support haha
