  1. Are you getting anymore Protein neomie?? You may want to up that a bit put some Protein powder in things or have a few Protein shake each day!!
  2. HAHAHA I'm a picker too so it is probably a good thing he stapled me
  3. I had a bad taste that came and went during my preop...It occured when you started to get Ketosis....drinking more water is supposed to help!! They also suggested during the preop to chew Chewing Gum but there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I will do that again given the stories I've read of Chewy getting stuck! So I say drink more Water. See if that helps and if it doesn't you may want to call your doc because I don't know how healthy it would be for your body to be having ketosis for an extended period of time.
  4. I'm the same as Kiz!! My liquids were whatever will fit up a McDonalds straw...now it is whatever I can puree (1/2 cup)...so tonight it was Mum's YUMMY Spaghetti Bolognese ! I have also had mashed potato (pureed potato mash from scratch) with a bit of Campbell's Chunky Butter chicken Soup blended...for lunch I had Chunky Campbells Beef and Potato Soup pureed. I am kinda feeling lazy about making from scratch at the moment. But I'll get there :lovechoc: I much prefer fresher foods (plus there is less salt!!)
  5. That was my thought. My doc said he used the staples because the stomach needs something more to hold it shut than tapes.
  6. Ahhh not yet but being that 1cm, does it look like it needs stitching instead of the butterfly? I'd maybe chat with your doc anyway because the infection may need some antibiotics to clear it up even if you are using the saline! I'd call your doc, nurse or not :lovechoc:
  7. Lost: 4.4kgs (about 9.86lbs) since the last weigh in 2 weeks ago....which included some in the preop. Exercise: Walking every day for all up about 30 minutes or so (Can't wait to get these staples out!!) In the past few days though I have come to a screeching halt and now I'm on mushies, it will be interesting to see what happens...
  8. I'd call your doc! It may be that they already had some fill in when they put it in. You may have too much restriction at the moment.
  9. Yay! Just had my first 1/2 cup of pureed food for dinner tonight!! Went down fine and I'm feeling kinda full. One thing that sucked though having to eat it over 20 minutes because I kinda lost interest in the flavour because I wasn't chewing and I wasn't swallowing much which I am sure my tummy appreciated but it was kinda bizarre. Looking forward to some Vitabrits with warm milk in the Morning!! :tt2:
  10. OMFG!! My hysterical laughing has to stop!! My mum and I have on several occasions had hysterical laughing fits that have caused me pain and which we just can't seem to stop!! First one was when she helped me sit up on day 2 at home and her thumb really cracked loudly we both looked at one another in shock and then cracked up laughing with me gripping my belly and crying with laughter and her on the floor almost! Second one was last night when she was helping me get the pressure stockings on my legs and she didn't put them on properly and I had really loose toes in them and I asked her to pull them tighter around my toes. This brought back to me as a child and how I'd always say make sure my socks are pulled up and my shoes are done up tightly (to the point I got the nickname 'little miss tight') so this set us off into hysterical guffawing again. We COULD NOT STOP and were both crying . She was laughing so hard she couldn't leave the room to try and help me stop laughing and when she finally did the moment she came back in we started up again. It wasn't as painful as the first time, just really uncomfortable and made me feel like I'd done WAY TOO many sit ups afterwards. But I felt so SICK afterwards and my belly was grumbling and gurgling and I couldn't get to sleep I was SOOOOO Uncomfortable all night and for most of today. I felt sick and my belly is sore. Has anyone else experienced this??
  11. Glad to hear you are feeling better. It does get better every day!! I have had similar things happening to me and every day I get better! I didn't have my second protein drink for two days in a row and I felt like CRAP and was getting head spins and stuff! So look after yourself! You will get better each day!
  12. Congrats Bernie! That is great news!
  13. Hey Bindi, Congrats and welcome!!! I was banded on 27 AUG and live in Melbourne!
  14. Glad you are feeling better Silverband!! I was and overdid it by going to the shopping centre and walking a bit too much! Take it easy and don't overdo it!

So dad and I were done the same day and dad's recovery is going a LOT better than mine. I ended up staying 2 days at the hospital so they could manage my pain a little better and to ensure that I didn't react to the pain meds. Although I am feeling a little better everyday but still have pain in the port site! I am not really overly hungry whereas dad is and I have been trying to get down more water but am finding it hard! I am getting up and walking though the gas pain hasn't been that bad. I just wish the Port Site pain would go and I wouldn't feel so tender!!!

  17. Congrats Amanda!! It is great to hear people doing well do you still have the stomach pain (is it at the port site??) And silverband, I hope you are doing better soon! I didn't have Morphine at the hospital due to the reaction I know I have to it and I don't think that helped much with the moving around either. I have started feeling better every day but do get some pain which the panadol usually keeps on top of! Just don't rush yourself but try to walk as much as possible.
  18. That is great news you and your wife are doing well dwrd :w00t: Hope you are feeling like your old selves sooN!!
  19. Wohoooo!! That is cool Innotu! Glad it went so well!
  20. Congrats everyone...I'm not jumping on the scales this week; a) coz i forgotton to do it in the am and coz I am still pretty bloated etc Next week
  21. Congrat Luv2prayz glad to hear you are going ok! I am feeling much better today ...forcing myself to have the 2 Protein drinks and Water though and some Soup....I really am not that hungry!! I have no issues with my other incisions except the itch factor it is mainly my port site giving me grief but I am finding it easier to get in and out of bed. I have been walking around and usually get up at least once in the night for a walk although I really don't feel that much gas pain. Occasionally get a bit sore in the shoulders but it doesn't stay long and just feels like I have been headbanging a bit too vigourously My sites are covered with a waterproof covering so I am able to shower easily which is great! I was talking with the girl in my room who had to get the replacement and she was telling me that she was in hospital 3 days the first time and this time she was really good, able to move and went home the next day no problems! She was also mortified at the bitch of a nurse who came into our room and started to have a go at me saying "Why haven't you been up walking the halls yet? The seven other people who had surgery the same day as you has been out there walking!" She was really nasty about it too. I had been walking to the toilet numerous times, in fact more than the girl who had had the replacement. She was horrible to me about taking pain meds too because I was a bit nervous about the whole will they make me vomit factor. I do wonder why people become nurses who have no compassion for people or really just common decency. There was one other bitch of a nurse who when I got my second roommate came in once saying "What now?" when my roommate buzzed her for some pain meds! Her demeanor was downright 'grumpy nasty cow!' Luckily the other nurses were nice. My cousin who is also a nurse was mortified by these nurses behaviour and said I should have said something to the nursing supervisor but when you are feeling like crap, I had no energy to do this! I did revert to a childish behaviour later when I was walking the hall a few hours after the bitch had had a go at me...as I walked past I poked out my tongue. :tt2: I couldn't believe me as a 31 year old would do that but it was all that I could manage and it did make me feel better
  22. Thanks Lellow!! I can't wait to feel no pain! I just wished I'd pulled up like Dad did!
  23. Good luck emilyr629, heather113076, hfalola, leslieann and her husband, Kegra, lisamarie818, missnikkie0514, okiechick, Lezlie and anyone else being banded on 29th August!! Also Goodluck to BernieDoc, gerard3906 and bellybellend!! Wishing you all a speedy recovery!! And that is all of us!!! :cursing:
  24. So I'm done. Not the most pleasant experience I've had but I'm getting there. Dad stayed overnight and went home the next day almost running down the halls! He has pulled up really well. Me, well, not so much. I had a LOT of pain at my port site and found it REALLY hard to move, so the hospital kept me in a second night so they could manage the pain. There were a few absolute cows working the day and afternoon shifts. If I had the energy and inclination I would have said something to their supervisor. Today it is a lot better and I'm home to mum's now :cursing:. Been walking as much as I can. Roomed with a girl the first night who had to get her band replaced because she didn't listen to it and ate too much causing vomiting which she didn't tell anyone about and had a slippage! She had lost 40kgs in 9 months though which was great but the slippage was a timely reminder to me about working with your band! Well going to go for a little wander in the fresh air.
  25. Congrats Lanakila! Glad to hear you've come out of it ok! My dad did too...he looks like he could go for a run! Me....not so good, but hey I'm getting there
