You can't lose what you never had. I believe this incident located this person in your life. Obviously not in friend category. Be glad you found out. You owe nobody anything.

Took me 3 months to lose 30 pounds so I'd say you are right on track. Losing slow is better for you anyways. I was thrilled with my progress and the rate of loss did not keep me from reaching, passing and maintaining below goal. Keep exercising, making good, healthy food choices, relax, and enjoy the journey!

I think that most of us here on the forum already knew someone who had complications with bariatric surgery. My oldest sister had a gastric bypass, and neary died from peritonitis, I did not let that stop me from getting a sleeve. Doctors and hospitals don't make any money with malpractice lawsuits. Your surgeon, no doubt, is just as interested in your post-op success as you are.
The trick to leveling out your weight loss when you reach goal, is to re-introduce some carbs and healthy fats. Finding a way to quit losing weight is a problem I would like to have.

I can't lie, its a sacrifice and you need to ask yourself all of those things. Sit down and " count the cost" and ask yourself what is most important. Are there other alternatives? What's the better plan for you at this stage in your life? Like someone said, if you decide to move ahead, talk over your issues with I your psychologist. Most of us had to. Best wishes on your quality decision!

Blue Sky reacted to Ladiec2 in Had my surgery. What a ride.
I had my surgery on Wednesday and it went well. I had some pain so dilauidid (sp) pain meds was my best friend. I have not passed gas at all; just been doing some burping. I had a slight fever but nothing they were too worried about. I didn't have a drain either. I did walk a lot. Thank God my sister was here with me to push me when I didn't want to do anything but sleep. I'm heading home sometime today; can't wait.

I don't know what it is......Everyone has an opinion for everything.....I find it entertaining now as at first it bothered me..Now just this past week a neighbor told me that they (neighborhood) all knew what I did and not to hide it.She said it like she was accusing me of something!.. Hide what...What I decide to do for myself. Do I tell my neighbors anything I do. No..They mean nothing to me and so they can shove it where the sun don't shine...
I did this to better my life and if it causes them issues the issues are theirs.....Personally I think she should look into the surgery herself...Just saying.....lol

You should call your insurance company. Some policies will cover post-op complications and others will not.

My doc encouraged me to get my Protein from real food, not shakes. The shakes made a good source for protein when I wasn't able to eat enough real food, but he said Protein Shakes are missing many of the trace minerals and nutrients you get from eating real food.

It is preferable to get your Protein from food rather than shakes. For me, I still have shakes for Breakfast sometimes because it is convenient.

Actually at 4 weeks my NUT was encouraging me to get my Protein from food rather than shakes. She said as soon as I could get 60 g through food I should drop the shakes completely.
It took me about a week to figure out how to get it in but now it's a rare occasion when I have a shake.

Congratulations! When I get to that point I believe I will stick to the stores that sell a nice collection for larger people simply because they respect all sizes in their store and always made me feel welcome. stores like Macys, Belks and most major department stores in general. Not saying that I would limit myself, or suggesting u should but I am gonna still patronize those stores that helped me out with their selections. To your question try them all and have fun cause u can! Stay free!

I have never posted in a forum for anything, hope I'm doing this right. I was sleeved on 2/9 and I am down 31 lbs as of 3/2. Walking on the treadmill everyday about 3 miles. Having issues getting to the 80 grams of Protein, and think that this might be the week the rapid losses begin to slow down. This surgery has changed my life, and hopefully prolonged it!!

Blue Sky reacted to cornhusker in Sleeved on October 8...update
I had my surgery on October 8. I weigh in once a week...every Monday morning. Anyway, as of this a.m. I've lost 102 pounds. Not too shabby. This procedure has literally enabled me to reclaim my health. Blood work is perfect. No longer have sleep apnea. Actually don't need to guess whether or not I'll fit into a booth at a restaurant. I bought jeans at the Gap the other day. To be able to walk into a normal store and buy something off the rack felt pretty darn good. But, I hadn't realized how expensive things at the Gap had become. $59.95 for jeans? Really? Anyway, not a day goes by the I don't get incredibly nice compliments from friends and acquaintances. I've still got about 35 pounds to go and have no doubt I'll get there. Hope everyone is well.
