    Need some female advice please

You should report any type of bleeding to your doctor and take their recommendation..whether your bariatric surgeon or your obgyn.. Bleeding is serious.

    Do you regret surgery?

I posed-that same question to others before surgery! I am happy to report based on my own experience... No regrets.
  3. It sure isn't the easy way out but if that's what people want to call it, so be it. There are too many ways to get help in this day in age without having to suffer it out. I'm about living life smart and not hard. It's about life choices and what works for you, and makes you a better person. IMO.
  4. If you don't want to share this, it's your choice. It's okay to have boundaries. They protect.

    Pre op fail

My sleeve, I don't think it will kill your chances. Just follow the plan from now on. I believe you have enough time to empty your stomach. Salonboi my doctor has cancelled surgeries the day of surgery if patients have eaten too much. They know and put us on the pre op plan for a reason. Mainly to prevent complications and shrink the liver. The size of your liver is determined in proportion to your body. They assess the situation beforehand when they put you on your plan.

Getting sick and the picc line

Mindy, try holding up on solid foods (if that was the problem) and go back to soups and full liquids. Listen to your own body and reintroduce food slowly. That's what we did b4 surgery! You may be trying to do too much. Rooting for u to feel better soon!

Things men say when told about WLS :)

One thing I've learned in general is not to share too much too soon in any relationship. People need to earn your trust and vice versa.

    really struggling

Not sure how far out you are, but I had similar feelings early on. You will get thru the process. Just take one day at a time and concentrate on getting well. Your outlook will improve after you get thru this pureed phase. It gets better.
  11. Hi. I used Dr David Kim of Dallas. I chose him because of the great number of surgeries he performed and lower level of risks for leaks because of the inverted sleeve he devised for his patients. Website is Drdkim.net. It speaks for itself. I was a traveling patient but have access to support group meetings thru website. Lots of support from his office and patients. I have had no complications or issues at all and feel great about my choice!

    Venting About Poor Forum Etiquette

Personally, I need logic. Even when it's written " correctly" people still misinterpret. It goes both ways. So your 1st point negates your second point. Also, it takes time to learn the site so some people don't know about questions others have had. As u stated, its a public forum so there should be an understanding that people come from all walks of life and express themselves in all manner of ways.
  13. Just don't take it. It's gotta be something else out there!

    Scared and unsure

Apart from your Dad I don't know why these folks are so vested in what u do. Watch who us talk to. Your dad is coming from a place of fear. Do your research. weigh the pros and cons. Pray about it and make your own peaceful decision. After that, stand on it and share only with those you think need to know and have your best interest at heart.
  15. Nobody from work. Only told closest family members and friends.
  16. Make sure you are on the solid proteins if your diet allows. Yogurts, ricotta and all that are slider foods. I was told by docs office to get solid proteins in with three meals and that has made all the difference. I think we are still figuring this thing out as I had my surgery 2,weeks before u... Learning what works and what doesn't. Drinking water helps also and I had to up my carb intake ( complex) to curb hunger and do more exercise to speed metabolism and burn it off.

My instructions were explicitly two weeks.

    Hi All!

    Welcome!
  19. I went walking this weekend and when I saw my shadow it was such a marked difference from before surgery. I was amazed at the smaller size of me! I didn't expect that NSV and it was such a sweet victory. New blessings every day.
  20. Big Opie u may as well take the Big out of your name because you won't be there long. See yourself at the end of your weight loss journey. You will get those 136 pounds off and are already making strides toward that end.

    NSV for tonight

That is wonderful, Lauranella!! It's amazing how the results of this surgery can be so lifting! It's literally and figuratively like a weight has been lifted. Our ability to enjoy ourselves at a club or out to dinner is greatly impacted by our perception of ourselves and I also am grateful for the difference this surgery has made.
  22. I understand your concern Lipstick lady. I want to encourage them , too. For myself I think weight loss surgery as in any type surgery should be the answer only after you have exhausted all avenues. I don't know that a teenager has lived long enough to make a decision to lose weight on their own and try the different methods out there. I made the decision because I have done so and am ready to focus my energy on something else. Ultimately it's up to the person though, after they have been informed.
  23. I was sleeved about a month before you on Feb 9. I was allowed 2 to 3 meals a day on pureed with 2 power ups between. (1-2 oz of poultry, fish, pork, etc). I stuck to that for two weeks. . Did notice tuna filled me up more than Soups, etc. I did yogurt or cottage cheese for Snacks. -- So I would do a shake or yogurt for breakfast; a cottage cheese/ fruit for snack; tuna /chicken salad or blended ham for lunch; string cheese snack; and chili or some meaty soup for dinner. Not that this is recommended, I would slip in a cracker or 2 somewhere because they melt and slide down okay and helped me feel satisfied. If I went to a restaurant in evenings (i spend a lot of time in hotels) I would get creamed spinach or a soft casserole dish like at Boston market to accompany my blended chicken. Dark meat worked best for me. Again the tip of the cornbread helped me fill full. ( my docs plan allows minimal carbs last, but most on here don't recommend them at all during this first phase). So far so good. Had a stall but pushed through. I was told I was right on schedule by my doctors office and got the all clear for regular foods and exercise last week. Hope this helps and sending positive thoughts your way!
  24. Okay, I was told by my med team that it is easier to get down larger quantities of full liquids, yogurts, etc because they are prescribed so to speak for the healing stage. They are slider foods. When I started my solids a week ago I had the same concern as you. I was told to eat solid proteins ( meat) with every meal first and I would not be able to get in much more than a half a cup. I complied with excellent results. Started to immediately fill restriction... Meantime just follow your doctors orders with whatever stage you are in. Measure your foods and you will do great! Go progressively thru each of your stages.
