wannabe banster questions
I've been banded now for 7 weeks and I feel great! I have returned to a strenuous job and I have begun exercising daily. Today I went for a 18 mile bike ride in 100 degree temp. I was afraid about what I would and wouldn't be able to do after the Band. There is nothing I can't do, that I did before the Band. I feel better than normal! At times, I feel like I still overeat, but nowhere near as much as before! Another fill in a couple of weeks will help out. Take Care,

Serious Question
Okay.......when a Bander is filled to the "sweetspot", the stoma is ideally the size of a straw or at least the size of one's finger. Anyway, this is what I've heard. My question is, if it was necessary to vomit (not PB), how can the vomit (gross I know) make it's way back up through the narrow stoma? I know that when I hurl (not often.....but boy when I do), I violently call for "Ralph" and "Roy". I've been known to break blood vessels in my eyes! I was just wondering about his. I hope that I don't have to find out, but I'd like to know what to expect. Sorry for the gross subject, but I was just curious. Anyone had any experience with this yet? Thanks Everyone,

Venting! ......Long post.........
Jess, One pound at a time! One day at a time! I was banded on 8/9/05 and I took 5 weeks off from work to recovery. I just returned to work a few days ago, and even though I have lost 26lbs.... a few of my "friends" at work have commented that I should have lost more! Not in a mean way, but in a subtle way....like, "Oh I thought that you'd have lost alot more weight that 26lbs by now! How stupid! Everybody compares the LapBand to RNY! They are completely two different procedures! Just remember....people are ignorant! I know that I have enjoyed some success, in a small amount of time, due to the fact that I exercise daily. NO IFS ANDS OR BUTS. Admittedly, I have cheated with food (amounts and types), but have found a way to exercise every single day. Jess, I know first hand that it is very difficult to exercise while being overweight! It's a task and it hurts. But it's not impossible! A 5min. walk is a start. Graduate to 10, 15, 20, 30mins. The more consistent you are....the easier it becomes. That's ofcourse, if your back is up to it. Don't aggrevate your injury. Good Luck, Ray 8/9/05 280/254/180 Fort Worth, Tx 1st Fill....3CC's

Old Gall Bladder scar...problems?
I too have the "old" type of gallbladder removal scar! About 6" long. I was only 20 years old when I had mine removed (runs in my family). I wasn't really overweight....just a genetic thing! Anyway, my Lapband doc told me that there was no significant scar tissue present. He said that my old surgeon did a really great job. I've heard that old scar tissue could potentially pose problems for the lapband surgeon. Ray

Port Pain
Hey Sue, My port site is still kinda sore. I was banded on 8/9/05 and I still get a little sharp pain if I move or jerk quickly! During the Dallas Cowboy game today, I kinda strained the port site.....since I was yelling and hollering like a mad man!! Ray
