  1. Good luck Jen I was more nervous about the before surgery stuff than the actual surgery itself too. Let us know how you make out. Hugs
  2. Wholey smokes, only 24 hours on liquids? I was on them for 3 looooong weeks.

  7. Geeze louise.... that is strange. Well I'm awfully glad your going to be okay
  8. COOL !!!! They are funny birds. Early one morning I was driving down a main street in a very busy town and there sat 5 wild turkeys on some ones lawn. They looked fake and I thought OMG what ugly statues ROFL I nearly rolled out of my car from laughing so hard b/c it was just so unexpected. My dog would go nuts if we had them in our yard too. Thanks for the pictures
  9. Hi Michelle, I know how you feel, I went for my first scheduled fill in January and my doctor wouldn't do it b/c I had lost some weight. I told him I was losing on my own willpower and not the band because I could eat a horse...I told him I didn't know how much longer I could do it, and I was really struggling...he still said NO! Come back in 1 month... oy, I was PO'd. So I gained 2 lbs and in February when I went for my monthly checkup he gave me my first fill. He said I could come back in 2 weeks for another fill, but I really thought about it and decided I wanted to wait and heal inside or do what ever it does inside and that I would wait until my next months visit. I can still eat like a horse, 1 month later so I know I am ready for fill #2. Its hard when your anxious to think rational but you need to slow down and take a look at things. Believe me, I know you are frustrated, so was I. I waited 4+ months for my 1st fill. I'm kinda glad I have a doctor who goes slow and puts my health first. Hang in there, your gonna be okay. HUGS!!!
  10. I believe there's a support group at Valley Hospital Ridgewood and I know there's one in Hackensack as well. I've only gone to the hackensack one once, it was okay.
  11. I am scared too Margo, when I had to wait 4 months for my first fill, I started getting really depressed and started to give into my old eating ways again. I can't seem to shake this feeling and I'm also picking inbetween meals....sigh. Hang in there, we'll both get the hang of this
  12. Welcome and Congratulations !!!!
  13. Isn't meat tenderizer mostly salt? So for an emergency.... your sitting in a dinner eating with your family or friends and you feel that golfball in your chest. Couldn't you take some table salt and sort of do the same thing? Has anyone tried this? whadda think?
  14. Wholey smokes, thats just awesome Carrie !!! Congratulations
  15. The first time going out after surgery surely is an experience. I'm glad it was a good one for you. Congrats.
  16. My friend who had gastric bypass said that jerkey is very bad for WLS people because it swells inside. To bad b/c I love the stuff, but seeing what you went through, I doubt I'll ever touch the stuff again. Glad your feeling better !!!
  17. OY VEY!!! I am so sorry that happened to you....frig !! I have 1 cc in a 4 cc band, I can eat pizza, bagels, you name it and I don't have to chew all that well (yeah I know, its gonna backfire). I'm really glad I read this because it scared the chit out of me. I know my day is coming and I better take heed. I think we should change PB to Productive Bubble (sounds like a rock band) lol. I gotta ask this... how in the hell does meat tenderizer help if your PBing / or have that golf ball feeling ??? what does it do? can you take if for both? Learn something new every day dang gum it.

My doc gave me 6 weeks. I was not ready to go back even after the 2nd week. IMHO if you have the time to take, take it. I'm glad I did.
  19. Oh gosh Janet, you should have told them to go suck on a life preserver. What a rude instructor to say the least. Your a good sport.
  20. How creepy is that.... YUCK!
  21. Hi Heather, I only told people very very close to me. I feel this was a personal decision and I don't want people watching me eat under a magnifying glass. If you feel like the folks around you can't understand your decision to be banded, than don't tell them. Just smile and say thanks GOOD LUCK !!!
  22. The support group at Hackensack NJ does not charge a fee. Do you have to use your doc's support group or can you go elsewhere? I'd be floored too.
  23. Hi Bill and Welcome !! What are you nevous about? the actual surgery or what your going to have to do after the procedure (diet, exercise, etc?). Everyone gets scared before the procedure, some folks are afraid of the actual surgery (raising hand here), and some are afraid they won't be able to lose after surgery, these feelings are VERY normal. What helped me decide to have the surgery was the fact that I wasn't getting any younger, and I WAS getting fatter by the day. I didn't and don't want to spend the rest of my life sitting on the couch watching my life go by. No one can make this decision for you, but you. Obviously you've come this far so that tells me you feel you need it. Good luck Bill with your decision, I know you'll make the right choice for you. Hugs !!!!
  24. Do you eat fruits? I would be worried about not getting enough Fiber in your diet. You might want to look into Fiber drinks, this might be the way to go until you can aquire a taste for the real thing. Check out your local GNC or Health food Store and see what they say about a fiber supplement. Make sure your taking your daily Vitamins Good luck. BTW, I never liked veggies until I was in my 20's. I started eating them mixed in w/my food so I couldn't taste them. They had to have sauce or butter on them or forgedaboudit lol, now I LOVE them, plain even :biggrin1:
  25. She's probably out showing off that new sexy body of her's and doesn't have time for us anymore (I hope lolol ) We miss you Angie.
