Curious -- could you have done it without Weight Loss Surgery?
Yes, I can lose weight, but never without gaining it back and never enough to bring me to a weight considered in the healthy range. I really want the surgery as a tool to get me where I need to be so that I can live a longer and healthier life.

Anyone had bypass with sleep apnea?
The surgery itself leaves one with worry. Will I wake up, have a heart attack, have issues etc. Am I making the right decision etc. It is a lot of pressure and not considered lightly by me. The thing i keep holding on to is that I am doing this to improve my health.

Anyone had bypass with sleep apnea?
I will be having the surgery on the 8th and have a CPAP. I am supposed to bring it to the hospital for after the surgery. This part is the least of worries to be sure.

What did you say?!
Wow. That is about the dumbest thing I think someone could have said to you.

How are you eating pre-op?
I have to be on the liquid diet for two weeks. It is boost and boost alone! Ugg. I hate the taste of it as it is really sweet. Anyway, I think that yes, it will be more mentally challenging than anything else. I started yesterday and to remind me of why I am doing this I keep telling myself that nothing tastes as good as being slim will feel. It is my new montra!

Day 5 Post - Op - Struggling: Afib, Upset Stomach, Anxiety, and Scared.
@@gabrielle It is probably hard not to blame yourself. I would probably do the same. However, one thing to remember is that in all likely hood, if you had stayed at the weight you are you would likely have heart issues at some point. In a way, you are preventing something worse from happening. I am one of those people who thinks everything happens for a reason, and in this case, you may have prevented a worse adverse affect by starting to take control and have surgery to get your weight and health under control.

What are you most anxious about/excited for?
I am worried about: Heart attack during surgery or after Not breathing during surgery Not waking up Not being able to have the surgery due to some issue or other I am excited about: Living a healthy life Loving my body better Crossing my legs CLOTHES that fit and do not drape over my body Clothes from a regular store Always buying shoes or nightgowns when I am out with my friends because I know it is all I can fit into without being in the big lady store Not having my joints ache Not struggling to breathe when exercising Not having my legs rub together when I walk Possibly not having to take blood pressure medicine DITCHING the CPAP forever NO more snoring NO more GERD Not being the FAT girl MOST OF ALL...seeing my reflection in the mirror and not being disgusted!

Sharing very little with very few
This is a funny thing for me. For some, I have openly discussed and for others, I choose to let them wonder. It isn't that I am trying to be cagey, its that I just don't want to have them openly express concern as I don't believe it to be genuine. In short, I just don't care what most think, but I also don't want to be their sounding board about it either. Most people I am around on a daily basis know and I am really comfortable with that. In the end, most will guess anyway, so who cares?

Going thru Withdrawal! Any helpful ideas?
Try to get through this. The diet is preparing you and your body for a drastic reduction in calories and is also shrinking your liver so that surgery is safer.

January RNY Surgery
Anaxila...My doc says 4 weeks and this is non negotiable which really is a drag. He says two weeks to heal and two weeks to learn to eat. Apparently, it is like starting over as a baby! Anyway, thanks for sharing about your fears and excitement. Part of me worries that it still wont happen and the other part can't wait!

January RNY Surgery
For me I worry about the surgery itself. I am scared I won't wake up. I don't have a good reason for this, just fear itself. I am so looking forward to next summer and not being fat. It will be awesome to shop in a regular store.

Anxious yet excited!
You can do this! It will be well worth it in the end!
