I have decided at the ripe old age of 45, that I am going to wear a bikini this summer! In fact, I have thrown out my tummy-covering tankinis and ordered 2 bikinis....my tummy and thighs look a bit like melting silly putty, but, like you, it is an article of clothing that I have NEVER worn and, by God, I am not going to let a little saggy skin stand in the way of my first tan on my belly
One thing I love about losing 90 pounds is that I am no longer constantly thinking about/obsessing on how I look in clothes....wearing a tank top would give me anxiety all day...I was never comfortable in shorts, form-fitting dresses had me in tears and the bikini? I never even considered it! In fact, when I would see them at stores I would be filled with sadness knowing that it was never something I could even consider. These days, the relief of no longer obsessing about my image is a gift! I not only bought a bikini, but two pairs of "cheeky" panties, dress slacks that are form-fitting rather than loose, a tank top with a built-in bra, leggings that I am willing to wear outside my house and more.
Just my two cents...but Enjoy the freedom! I guarantee no one but you cares about a little tummy sag

I had surgery 11/4/14 and I stalled the second week also. It lasted about 5 days. Our bodies are adjusting and healing. Hang in there it will get better

So I stepped on the scale this weekend, 3 lbs away from my 200 lb first goal hoping to of lost those 3 and to my surprise I lost 5!! I was down to 198 back in the hundreds!! OMG OMG OMG, I was so excited I did a little dance in the bathroom.
122 lbs down, I can't even believe I am saying that. it will be 8 months tomorrow and I am down 122 lbs!

Today I Celebrate 2 months post-op. I started the journey at 192 and am now happily weighing in at 156. The last week has been a little tough. I'm finally feeling less restriction and I have to be a bit more conscious of what I eat. I'm able to eat less food but learned that I still definitely need to watch the carbs, they are the devil!
Life is so much better. The holidays were just great. I didn't worry about what to wear and how it felt. Instead of celebrating with food, I am learning to Celebrate with fellowship -- really learning to enjoy people! I'm still getting used to all the attention I'm getting but it's way better than the attention I used to get. "You have such a pretty face, have you ever thought about losing some weight?". Yes, I've heard that a few times.
These days life is good. I'm learning to love the new me. Shopping for clothes that are not plus size is so much fun. Just after Thanksgiving I cleaned out my closet and now I'm slowly buying all new clothes. The Christmas sales were great.
If you are considering gastric sleeve, take it from me, it's the best thing I've ever done for my health and my self-esteem. Did I mention I am prescription medication free? Yep, after 13 years of diabetes and high blood pressure, I am completely free from both. Well, that's my story and I can't wait to see what the next two months will bring.

I want to be able to see my passing reflection and not cringe. I want to be able to go into any store to shop for clothes, not over-priced, plus sized stores. I want to feel comfortable in my own skin...12/29, my life will change forever!

Hello everyone. I hope you all are doing well. I had surgery 11/4/14 and I had no problems with my sleeve surgery. Everything has been going great and I feel really good.
Did anyone else have other medical problems uncovered due to this surgery? My surgeon told my husband after my surgery that he saw a "very large cyst in the area of my right ovary and that I should get it checked out." I got through my first week pre-op and the second week I had an appointment with my PCP. She ordered an ultrasound which showed a large 10 cm cystic lesion on/around my right ovary. They could not even see the ovary due to the cyst being so large. The following week I had an MRI which showed 2 large cysts in the adnexal/upper pelvic area. The largest cyst has a smaller cyst within it. I had an appointment with a new GYN the middle of December (my old GYN had a baby and decided to be a stay at home mom). I called them after my MRI and they moved my appointment up to this Thursday. I am very nervous as the NP that called with my test results would give me very little information. She just said that the GYN would talk to me about everything but that I would require surgery due to the size of the cysts. I asked about the chances of them being cancerous and she said again that the GYN would discuss all of this with me. Now I am nervous and am going to have to go through more surgery. I just hope it can be done this month as my deductible has been met.
Any words of encouragement would be appreciated or if anyone else wants to share their experiences... Thank you for listening (reading).

I needed new jeans....So I went to Macy's women's plus size section to get size 18W.....down from my baggy 20W's. Well they didn't have any that I liked. So I went over to the "regular" women's and misses section across the store.....haven't been there in years! I walked out with a size 18! not a 18W. I am a "regular" woman now! They may be 18's but not having that W on the tag just about made me do cart wheels out the door!

My personal choice was to be open about it and in most cases I have been happy about my decision. People do treat me very different though. I definitely have been in a bit of a struggle with this on occasion though. I can't help but be what I feel is a bit negative because inside my head I say "you wouldn't have said that a year ago" or "I would've been invisible to you a year ago." It's hard not to think that way but I know it's the truth. I don't want to be the poster child for weight loss surgery, but I also want people to know it's a great option and not to be so afraid of it. I heard many positive things preop but also negative things which I took with a grain of salt. Nobody can hold me down!! If I had it to do over again, I would still choose to share it as I have. I also wouldn't want something serious to come up with me and the people around me not know my medical history and have my sleeve damaged.

I was sleeved on 9/4/14 and when I weighed myself tonight at the gym I found that I have lost 93 pounds. I was hoping to lose 100 pounds by my 5th month and now I have a chance to hit that mark before the 4th month. It has taken a lot of hard work, but I am proud of the decision I made. It has been years since I felt this well.

I joined a gym over a month ago and started working out about 5 days a week. I think I have a new addiction!
