Icky Protein Drinks!
From the RTD the most popular on this forum are probably the premiere Protein and the isopure. The isopure you can purchase just one bottle from GNC and that way you can try different flavors to see if you prefer one. If you are preop make sure you don't buy too much. Every Protein Drink I liked preop I couldn't stand post op.

Nervous and not sure what I should be doing to prepare
I take the flinstones multivitamin and bariatric advantage brand b12 and calcium. The unflavored un jury protein powder isn't flavored so it isn't likely you'll get sick of it. Every protein that I liked pre surgery I couldn't stand post surgery so be careful about buying anything flavored in bulk. There are a couple of forums on here where people have posted long lists of protein drink recipes so that should help you out.

Gatorade
I have difficultly getting in enough calories (4 months out) and I cannot tolerate artificial sweeteners. My doc said its fine to drink regular Gatorade which I water down because otherwise I find it much to sweet. Before when I was just drinking water I found myself getting very lightheaded and low energy, the Gatorade has helped me a lot.

Can you take melatonin to sleep 7 weeks post...
I can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to take melatonin. My dr never mentioned anything about it. If you're worried though I'd just call your Drs office and ask so that you'll have peace of mind

Calcium chews...when did you start taking them?
I stopped because I was instructed not to take anything for 72 hrs or so before surgery. I'm not sure what the rationale is behind it, and I'm sure this varies from surgeon to surgeon. Hope this helps answer your question.
